🌎 The global green economy is worth >$5 trillion annually and projected to exceed $7 trillion by 2030 ✅ Sustainable solutions for our industrial and food systems – which together account for >50% of global emissions – are proving cost-competitive These are two of the reasons why we believe the business case for investing in the next wave of climate solutions is relevant and robust. Just Climate’s Clara Barby shared her insights on investing in climate-focused assets and opportunities to scale solutions at the Milken Institute Global Conference. Clara, our Senior Partner, was a panellist at the Sustainable Asset Managers Caucus Meeting during the conference in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, this week. Afterwards she said: “The evidence shows the green transition is gathering momentum. Now is the time to be intentional about standardising and scaling climate solutions.” The Milken Institute is a non-profit think tank focused on how capital markets can help solve social and economic challenges. Its annual Global Conference brings together leaders across sectors to discuss practical solutions for a more sustainable world. Discover more about Just Climate’s mission at justclimate.com

We’re pleased to partner with Afresh, the AI platform for the grocery sector. Every day, billions of decisions determine how food moves through the grocery supply chain: what to order, how much to stock, when to mark down and what to produce. In a roughly $10 trillion global industry built on perishable inventory and razor-thin margins, those decisions are made under constant pressure, often across fragmented systems. “We’ve spent nearly a decade building AI to solve the complexity of grocery, and we’re now seeing that approach scale across the industry,” says Matt Schwartz, CEO and co-founder of Afresh. “Food waste is one of the most critical and overlooked drivers of emissions in the food system,” says Libby Spalding, Director at Generation Investment Management. “Afresh’s AI platform strengthens the demand signal at the retail and distribution centre levels, which have outsized upstream consequences. The results mean stronger margins for retailers and lower emissions for the system.” Discover more about our mission at justclimate.com
Grocery is one of the hardest AI problems in the world. It’s also one of the most underserved. Today we're announcing $34M to keep changing that, co-led by Just Climate and HighSage Ventures. Grocery is a $10T industry that runs on thousands of daily decisions about what gets stocked, what gets sold, and what gets thrown away. We started with fresh because it's where the margin for error is smallest — if AI works there, it works anywhere in the store. Where we are now: → 200M+ lbs of food waste prevented → 12,500+ departments across 40 states → 70% YoY growth The grocery industry sits at the center of the global food system. Every decision it makes shapes what's grown, what's eaten, and what's wasted. Afresh is the AI making those decisions better at scale. Next chapter: more decisions, more products, more grocers, less waste. Thank you to all of our investors, our grocery partners, and the team building this.

We are pleased to announce our backing of Zanskar, the AI-native geothermal energy company in the United States. ✅ Just Climate co-led the investment for Zanskar’s development capital facility, alongside Spring Lane Capital, with support from Tierra Adentro Growth Capital. This is an innovative non-recourse development capital credit facility for renewables outside solar and wind, with the potential to create a replicable model for scaling geothermal asset class. “Zanskar has built a differentiated, AI-powered exploration platform that improves drilling success rates and lowers development costs,” says Natalia Simakina, CFA, Managing Director at Just Climate. “We are pleased to partner with Zanskar on this flexible, purposefully constructed development capital facility which is designed to grow as the company accelerates the delivery of large-scale, dispatchable clean baseload power in a market experiencing rapidly increasing electricity demand.” With projects underway across the Western US, Zanskar aims to deliver reliable, clean energy and create hundreds of jobs, showing that geothermal can be predictable, profitable and scalable. Read the full announcement here: https://lnkd.in/eWHrBY63
Geothermal just got one of its biggest financing breakthroughs for early-stage development ⚡️ Zanskar has closed $40M in a novel Development Capital Facility, structured to scale to $100M. One of the first facilities of its kind, this deal represents a landmark financing moment for geothermal at large. Here’s why it matters: the earliest (and riskiest) stages of geothermal development — drilling, permitting, and field development — have always been the hardest to finance, relying almost exclusively on expensive equity. That bottleneck has suppressed the industry’s growth for decades: until now. This facility introduces non-recourse, scalable debt into the pre-construction phase, bridging the gap to traditional project financing and creating a replicable financing model for the entire sector. As CEO Carl Hoiland put it, Zanskar is “pioneering the financial infrastructure the entire industry needs to scale.” Co-led by Just Climate and Spring Lane Capital, with participation from Tierra Adentro Growth Capital, this facility will accelerate the deployment of clean, baseload geothermal power across the U.S. Read the full release here: https://lnkd.in/gEY5RbwP #Geothermal #GeothermalEnergy #EnergyInnovation #ClimateFinance #ClimateTech #BaseloadPower

We are pleased to announce our participation in Tropic’s $105 million Series C funding round, alongside co-leads Forbion and Corteva Agriscience. 2025 was a milestone year for Tropic, marked by the commercial launch of the first new banana varieties in more than 75 years. These innovations - including an extended shelf-life variety that lengthens green life by an additional 12 days - are already reducing transportation waste by up to 50 percent. "With the technology proven and the first products in market, the company is now at an inflection point. We look forward to partnering with the Tropic team to bring resilient, sustainable crops to growers worldwide," says Siddarth Shrikanth, Director at Just Climate. Agriculture drives the majority of nature loss, and food waste is a driver of global emissions. Tropic’s technology tackles these challenges at the source. Read the full announcement here: https://lnkd.in/eMeyqdnu
🌾 Tropic raises $105 million in an oversubscribed Series C 🍌 We’re thrilled to announce the close of our Series C financing, accelerating the global commercial scale‑up of our banana and rice portfolios and advancing our pipeline of climate‑resilient crops. In 2025, we launched the world’s first new commercial banana varieties in over 75 years — including a non‑browning banana, named one of TIME Magazine’s Best Inventions of 2025, and an extended shelf‑life variety that adds 12 days of green life, boosts field yields, unlocks new export routes and cuts transportation waste by up to 50%. With demand already outpacing supply, this investment will expand large‑scale plant production, strengthen global supply chains and support commercial partnerships across major export markets. It will also accelerate the development of disease‑resistant banana varieties — including resistance to TR4 and Black Sigatoka — expand our rice portfolio, and support entry into additional high‑impact crops. The round was co-led by Forbion through its Bioeconomy Fund and Corteva Agriscience, through its Corteva Catalyst investment platform, with significant participation from Just Climate and IQ Capital. The round was also supported by new investors ABN AMRO Bank N.V. and Invest International, and existing investors Temasek, Five Seasons Ventures, Sucden Ventures, Genoa Ventures and Polaris Partners who participated in the round. Our sincere thanks to our investors and partners — and enormous credit to our outstanding teams, whose talent, determination and belief in our mission make milestones like this possible and are transforming tropical agriculture worldwide. 🔗 Read the full press release: https://lnkd.in/eiNK3sCC #SustainableAgriculture #AgTech #Biotech | Gilad Gershon Eyal Maori

How can our food production system grow sustainably? 🌱 This was one of the topics when Just Climate’s Gustavo B. shared his insights at the FCC / FAC Future of Food conference in Canada. 🍁 Gustavo, Head of our Natural Climate Solutions strategy, was a panellist on a session titled The Power of Collaboration: Global Insights for Building Smarter Innovation Ecosystems, during the event in Ottawa on 10 February. Afterwards, Gustavo said: “Innovation in agriculture is abundant but to truly transform our food systems, we must solve the 'missing middle' – the lack of investment to scale solutions. Collaboration is key to ensure these solutions have the capital to scale from the lab to the farm.” Alongside Gustavo on the panel were Roger Van Hoesel, co-founder of Ecosystem Navigators, and Johnny Park, CEO at Wabash Heartland Innovation Network, while the session was moderated by Pamela Wallin, senator for Saskatchewan. The 10th edition of Future of Food took place on Canada’s annual Agriculture Day and brought together food producers, investors, policymakers and industry leaders to discuss how to grow the nation’s agriculture sector.
