  • Today, we’re excited to share that the MarketStreet team is joining Anthropic. Over the last few years, we've watched AI reshape what's possible for small business owners. This has gone from helping with emails and small tasks to agents that can now run major parts of their businesses. It's been an honor to work alongside small business owners navigating this shift. Along the way, we heard from these owners about how they’ve felt left behind by previous technology shifts. Anthropic shares our conviction that AI should be useful, responsible, and accessible to everyone. We're excited to contribute to that work. The MarketStreet network will go offline on May 31st, 2026. Our 2025 and 2026 research reports on the state of US small business remain freely available at https://lnkd.in/geuJk5Vf Thank you to all of our investors, partners, and friends. It has been a privilege to build alongside you. A special thank you to our small business owners. Your businesses are the backbone of the US economy. Keep building. Adam and Rich Founders, MarketStreet

Small business owners are some of the most engaged, most passionate entrepreneurs I’ve ever met. Here’s a quick example: When they sign up for MarketStreet they get an automatically generated welcome email, just like you would for any product. In this email, we welcome them to the network and ask two questions: * What kind of business do you have, and why did you start it? * What's something you love about being a business owner? Pretty standard stuff, right?  This is the start of an onboarding email campaign, and in my experience, response rates to emails like this are usually very low. Boy, was I wrong. A huge share of owners are replying — far more than I've seen from any onboarding email I've run. It’s also not just that they respond, but what they say. I’ve got some graphs below, but the tl;dr is that these folks run their own businesses because they're helpers — they're motivated by supporting their families, friends, and communities, and they find real joy in it. That’s not something I would have guessed as a top motivation before spending time with these owners, but now, I’m starting to get it.

    • "Desire to help others" is the runaway #1 motivation, appearing in 35% of all responses.
    • "Helping people" dominates again - 43% of those who answered this question cite impact as their primary joy. But creative fulfillment runs surprisingly strong at 35%.

  • Happy MarketStreet Monday! Today we're excited to introduce you to Bonatarte, a cottage bakery crafting small-batch, handcrafted French tartes in the heart of Phoenix 🥐🌸🎀 Here's owner Joana's story in her own words: "My mother was a private chef to Orson Welles, famed Hollywood actor, when I was a kid, so I grew up with a master chef at home, as well as my maternal grandmother, from Barcelona, who was the family matriarch and a force in the kitchen, to be sure. Together, we were always cooking, baking, listening to music and dancing around in the kitchen. During my childhood and early into my 20's, I was a classically trained ballerina, dancing on scholarships at the Boston Ballet...an unfortunate injury ended a promising career. When I was 18 years old, I met world renowned French Michelin star chef Alfred Schilling, with whom I developed a life-long friendship; Alfred has always been instrumental in shaping my passion for finer culinary creations and for teaching me the art of creating something special from very few ingredients. I was fortunate to work at Matt Carter's Zinc Bistro at the Kierland's in Scottsdale as a pastry chef — one of the best times of my life. Eventually, I launched BONATARTE, and that was that. As a home-based cottage baker, BONATARTE is churning out a lot of tartes, and selling weekly at the Arrowhead Farmer's Market in Glendale, AZ. We keep busy with private events and parties, working with event/party planners, and corporate businesses." Find out more about local businesses like Bonatarte on MarketStreet!

  • Happy MarketStreet Monday! Today we're excited to introduce you to Justa Grazin', a woman-owned charcuterie and event cart business serving the Denver Metro area. 🧀🍇✨ What started as a passion project has become one of Denver's most creative catering experiences. No two setups ever look the same. Here's their story in their own words: "Justa Grazin' is a woman-owned charcuterie and event cart business serving the Denver Metro area with artisanal culinary experiences that are as beautiful as they are delicious. From handcrafted charcuterie boards loaded with cured meats, cheeses, and seasonal accents, to their signature event cart — a rolling, interactive grazing station that becomes the centerpiece of any gathering — Justa Grazin' brings creativity, quality, and a personal touch to every occasion. Whether it's an intimate celebration, a holiday party, or a large corporate event, their team is committed to making every bite and every moment memorable. Based in the Denver area, Justa Grazin' is redefining what it means to graze. I started Justa Grazin' because of my love of charcuterie and the creative outlet it gives me. No two of my boards ever look the same because I never know what I'm going to do until I start putting cheese on the platter, and that's exactly what I love about it. My cart is so cute and super fun to have at parties. They are popping up across the country but they are still fairly new and people love it. Also, I only do private events or individual orders. I'm always open to being a preferred vendor if a local venue needs a small bites caterer." Happy MarketStreet Monday! Today we're excited to introduce you to Lentl, a modern seasoning brand born in Houston and rooted in South Indian tradition. 🌿🫙✨ Rathi noticed something was missing from the mainstream food conversation: the rich, complex pantry staples that South Indian kitchens have relied on for generations. So she built Lentl to close that gap, one sprinkle at a time. Here's her story in her own words: "Lentl is a modern seasoning brand inspired by South Indian flavors and built for everyday cooking. Our blends are made from slow-roasted lentils, herbs and spices that add crunch, warmth, and depth to simple meals—eggs, vegetables, grains, and snacks. Lentl is plant-powered, made with 100% organic, clean ingredients, and each serving delivers 2–3grams of plant-based protein and fiber, making it nutritionally meaningful as well as flavorful. I started Lentl because South Indian food and culture are still largely missing from the mainstream food conversation. Many people recognize dishes like naan or butter chicken, but far fewer have heard of Podi—a quintessential South Indian pantry staple that brings depth, warmth, and balance to everyday meals. My approach is to introduce our artisanal blends in a way that feels approachable and familiar. Instead of presenting cultural foods as something separate or elaborate, I show how Podi can seamlessly integrate with foods people already love—like popcorn, eggs, or roasted vegetables. The goal is simple: to make complex, heritage flavors part of everyday cooking." Catch Lentl live at the Run for Rose 5K on April 11 and Puranava festival in Pearland on April 18!
