We can change the world when we change our approach to technology.

About us

We're a community of nonprofit professionals who recognize that technology is integral to our work and lives. We've seen firsthand in our communities that access to technology and using it effectively is a consistent barrier across all forms of inequity. Together we can dismantle existing systems of oppression and create new ways for our organizations to approach technology strategically and deploy it in racially equitable ways.

I’m glad to see research focused not just on AI tools, but on how nonprofits are actually making decisions about using them. If your organization is experimenting with AI or still figuring out your approach, I’d encourage you to participate! The more honest perspectives given helps strengthen the sector’s shared learning around AI.

NTEN has partnered with The Bridgespan Group to launch the State of Nonprofit AI Governance and Adoption survey, focusing on how organizations are actually making decisions about AI. We’re looking to hear from nonprofit and foundation staff at all levels, whether you’re setting policies, testing tools personally, or still figuring out your approach. There are no right or wrong answers—just your experience. 🕒 Takes about 15 minutes 📊 Open to staff at all levels at nonprofits and foundations 🔁 Multiple people from the same organization may respond Your input will help build a clearer, shared understanding of how our sector is navigating AI in practice. 🎁 By completing the survey, you will be entered in a drawing for a free 27NTC registration or a free NTEN professional certificate! When a security researcher finds a vulnerability in a large company's systems, the path forward is well-defined. The tools and processes that make organized disclosure work were built for organizations with dedicated security staff, legal departments, engineering resources, and enterprise software budgets. Those conditions do not describe most nonprofits. Jared Medeiros outlines actionable steps #NonprofitCybersecurity teams can take to set up responsible disclosure systems. #NPTech #Cybersecurity #NTENBlog https://lnkd.in/gzSkYbYg

I published an article with NTEN examining the responsible disclosure gap in the nonprofit sector and outlining some achievable steps that organizations can take to address it. Read it here: https://lnkd.in/emdqPb5z Harbor Project helps to close the loop addressed in this article, by providing a standardized Vulnerability Disclosure Program and Bug Bounty platform that connects nonprofits to responsible reporting channels. The waitlist for Harbor is still open, take a look!

We’re seeing some interesting data trends as we study early results of the 2026 Donor Management Survey led by Karen Graham: 🔵 A growing portion of organizations seems to be using online fundraising tools in addition to a donor management system. 🔵 Some organizations even use an online fundraising tool AS their donor management system. 📊 We can't wait to dig into this data! Help us make it stronger by dedicating 15 minutes of your time to answer the 2026 Donor Management Systems Survey. 🔁 Not your domain? Your nonprofit's annual report page used to get 5,000 visitors per month from people searching "climate change statistics." Now it has dropped to 1,200. Google's AI is answering those questions directly, without sending anyone to your carefully researched content. Relatable? These changes to website traffic and search are happening right now to nonprofits everywhere. Read Rosie Gladden's guide on how to keep your website traffic up in an AI-first search world on the NTEN blog. https://lnkd.in/gYUtDsAH

🎣 Phishing tests are a staple of most nonprofit cybersecurity teams—but the way we design them matters more than ever. This piece by Atish Kumar Dash on the NTEN blog explores how organizations are rethinking phishing simulations—not as “gotcha” moments, but as a way to actually build trust, learning, and long-term cyber resilience. If your organization is running phishing simulations (or considering it), put this 10–min read on your list! 📚 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gdWcA4tz

One thing I’m appreciating more in my nonprofit AI and technology learning journey is this: before adopting new tools, organizations need to understand their current level of readiness. That is why I find Tech Accelerate by NTEN so valuable. Tech Accelerate is a free assessment tool that helps organizations evaluate their technology adoption, practices, and policies. I see this as an important step for nonprofits that want to make thoughtful decisions about digital transformation rather than jumping straight into tools without a clear foundation. What stands out to me is that readiness is not only about having access to technology. It is also about the systems, habits, and policies that shape how technology is used across an organization. For nonprofits, tools like this can help spark important questions: Are our current practices supporting our mission? Where are the gaps in our technology use? What do we need to strengthen before scaling new digital or AI initiatives? In a time when more organizations are exploring AI and other digital tools, assessments like Tech Accelerate remind us that effective adoption starts with reflection, not just implementation. For me, this is another reminder that meaningful innovation in the nonprofit sector begins with clarity, readiness, and purpose. Here is the link, in case you want to get your organization assessed: https://lnkd.in/eJbfAv-M #NonprofitTech #DigitalTransformation #AIForNonprofits #TechReadiness #NTEN #NonprofitLeadership #InnovationForImpact
