Whatnot has thousands of live shows running at any given time, and each one only lasts a couple hours before it's gone. Vintage denim, Pokémon cards, snacks and more, all happening at once. What's available shifts constantly, and so does what you want to shop for. The feed has to keep up. Our Discovery team just published a post on how they make the feed keep up, moving the system behind feed ranking from daily updates to hourly ones. They cover what went wrong along the way (one process quietly ran half as often as it should have for a while) and how they keep things reliable now. They're working toward updates in under a minute, so the feed keeps pace with you in real time. We're hiring engineers who want to build this kind of real-time tech with us: careers.whatnot.com https://lnkd.in/gyyJC7gR #MachineLearning #LiveShopping

What happens when you put people back at the center of commerce? That was one of the questions our co-founder and CEO Grant LaFontaine discussed with retail expert Alexander Graf yesterday at OMR in Hamburg, Germany's largest digital and tech festival. On Whatnot, sellers interact with buyers in real-time, show their products live, and build deep customer loyalty. In Germany, that model is turning into something bigger. Brick and mortar stores are finding audiences they could never reach from a storefront and converting them into customers. Established businesses are opening new revenue streams. A new generation of entrepreneurs is building live-first businesses from the ground up. Our business in Germany more than tripled in 2025. Behind that growth: 3 in 4 German buyers chat with the seller before they purchase, the highest engagement rate of any Whatnot market globally. When buyers know who they're buying from, they come back. Thanks to OMR for having us. #OMR26

Momentum is what separates good shows from great ones on Whatnot. We’re seeing it play out in real time. Sellers are adjusting their pacing by category, with nearly half of auctions now running at 10 seconds or less. Shorter formats can drive more sales per hour in faster-moving categories, while others benefit from more time. To support this, we introduced a 7-second timer as another option. In just one week, 17K sellers used it to drive $14M in sales. At the same time, discovery is getting sharper. This month, we expanded and refined categories to better match what buyers are already searching for, from movie memorabilia to vintage bags to men’s formalwear (wedding season anyone?). And the best sellers are consistent. They show up often, run structured shows, and keep energy high from start to finish. Plenty of tech companies say they "eat their own dog food." We make it a real requirement. Every Whatnaut, from a new hire to our CEO Grant LaFontaine, has to buy and sell on Whatnot, and answer support tickets. And as we've grown past 1,000 people, we've doubled down, not eased up. It gets easier for people to drift from the community at scale, so we lean harder into staying close. It works. When people across the company have run a show, shopped the app, and handled support tickets, everyone has better judgment and can fix what's broken for our community. Product builds features that solve for friction they've felt themselves. Category and community teams give better advice to sellers. Marketing tells truer stories. Grant talked with Fast Company's Stephanie Mehta about why this only matters more as we grow. Read it here: https://lnkd.in/g_9iAdj7 #Dogfooding #LiveShopping

Whatnot has been named one of TIME's 100 Most Influential Companies of 2026. To assemble this list, TIME polled its global network of contributors and correspondents, as well as outside experts, to identify companies highlighted for their work across impact, innovation, ambition, and success. Whatnot was recognized on the “Innovators” list, highlighting how we stand out: by helping small businesses grow. Last year our sellers sold more than $8 billion in live sales on our platform, more than double the year before. For 1 in 8 of them, selling on Whatnot is now a full-time job. None of that happens without the people behind it. The sellers who go live, build communities, and turn passion into real livelihoods. The buyers who keep coming back because live is a more joyful and trustworthy way to shop. And the Whatnot team that’s building the future of commerce for them. Thank you to TIME for this acknowledgment. We're just getting started. https://lnkd.in/gsHjWisa #TIME100Companies

Whatnot 🤝 Shopify Today, we announced our new integration with Shopify, bringing live commerce into the workflows sellers already rely on. Live commerce is the fastest-growing channel in e-commerce because it adds something traditional online shopping can’t: human connection. Sellers can answer questions in real time, build trust instantly, and create the kind of urgency that drives conversion – all in a single live show. For many businesses, the question hasn’t been whether it works, but how to make it fit into the operation they’ve already built. Now, retailers of all sizes, from those just getting started to those with 100s of million in sales, can plug Whatnot into the same systems they use to manage products, inventory, and fulfillment. You get the speed and energy of live selling while your business keeps running seamlessly. Eluxe sells thousands of fashion items a week on Whatnot. They do it in front of a live audience, not one buyer at a time. Holli and Jason launched in July 2022 after 20 years of online reselling and $1M+ in lifetime sales. They had the inventory and the expertise. What they didn't have was a way to sell fast enough to keep up with what they were sourcing. Boxes piled up, and growth stalled. Their first Whatnot show cleared $1,500 in one sitting. Within months, they were hosting multiple shows a day. Today Eluxe hosts 100+ hours of shows a week, does $2M+ in monthly sales, and employs 46 people across warehouses in three states dedicated to their Whatnot business. The community they've built shows up every time they go live. "If I'm not live for two or three days, I start getting messages asking when I'm coming back." — Holli Sellers who go live daily on Whatnot earn 100-250x more than those who go live once or twice a month. Eluxe shows what the top of that curve looks like. #LiveSelling #LiveShopping

On Saturday, hundreds of sellers came to Austin for our first Whatnot Seller Summit. There's something different about a room full of people who've bet on the same thing. Everyone who showed up came with the same goal: to get better at building a business with live shopping, and it showed up in every session. Sellers who've scaled on Whatnot got on stage to share how they've done it and what they've learned along the way. Our Marketing, Product and Seller Education teams shared what's coming next and how seller feedback is shaping it. And attendees from multiple categories spent the day trading notes with peers building alongside them. Whatnot sellers did over $8B in live sales last year, and 1 in 8 now sell full-time on the platform, up 20% from 2024. Live commerce isn't a trend. It's a career path and a serious business channel, and Saturday was a room full of proof. Thank you to our sellers for a great day. This was our largest seller event yet, and it won't be the last. #WhatnotSellers #LiveShopping

If you're on Whatnot, you already know. Live shopping isn't coming, it's here. On the latest Retail Remix from Retail TouchPoints, our CRO Armand Wilson sits down with Nicole Silberstein to talk about why the rest of the U.S. is finally catching up. His take: the version that's working in the West is built on community, seller expertise, and trust. That's how Whatnot passed $8B in GMV last year, more than doubling 2024. He also gets into why beauty and food are opening up the next wave of categories, what makes a great seller, and how trust and transparency shape the whole experience. Whatnot started in a Phoenix garage in 2019. Seven years later, we're the largest live shopping platform in the U.S. and Europe, ranked #1 on Forbes America's Best Startup Employers, and still deeply rooted in Arizona, where it all started. Last night we opened our Phoenix office and loved meeting so many new folks interested in working at Whatnot. We heard from sellers who've grown real businesses on the platform, from a registered nurse in Surprise who built a six-figure pet supply business to a Mesa store owner live selling international snacks from his convenience store. They're not alone. About 1 in 200 people in Arizona sell on Whatnot, and over 40 small businesses in the state have crossed $1M in sales on the platform. Behind them is a growing team right here in this office, and we're actively hiring across customer experience, trust and safety, fraud, operations, IT, engineering, and more. Arizona is where Whatnot started, and it's still a big part of how we're growing.
