I wrote about how product managers should deliberately decide which features should be built to an A grade and which ones should be built to a B or even only a C grade. Making the resource tradeoffs to optimize business outcomes is a core job of product management, and building every capability to an A grade is a poor use of scarce resources. https://lnkd.in/gTXBfNYE

🎙️ From Square to Mercury: How Rohini Pandhi became one of fintech’s top product leaders—and how velocity of learning at high slope companies shaped everything. Rohini dropped so many gems in our first episode of First Builders: 💎 Generalist → Specialist: In her early career, she was a generalist and tried everything. This led her to critical discoveries. She specialized in product and fintech when the “time was right” 💎 Follow the Engineers and Designers: Square was a high slope environment for Rohini, packed with talent density and learnings. She finds high slope environments by studying where smart engineers and designers are going. 💎 Fake News about PMs: PMs don’t just “move fast and break things.” Her team runs 30-50 customer interviews per quarter, providing rigor behind every decision. 💎 It’s Usually Too Early to Hire a PM: A top question she gets from founders is whether they should hire a PM. She usually says: “it’s too early.” 💎 Hiring a World Class Team is Like Tennis: When finding a tennis partner, you want someone a little better than you who can challenge you to improve your game. If you are anywhere near Fullerton, California this week, join us for the next "I Build with AI" meetup, where Mark Warrick, AI Strategist and App Developer, will be presenting and running a workshop on how to Turn Your Domain Expertise into a Mobile App with AI! Instead of focusing on code or technical implementation details, the session centers on understanding intent, decision-making, and real-world judgment, and how AI can help translate that thinking into software. To make the concepts concrete, Mark will walk through a real example called Trail Palette, a mobile weather app designed for outdoor photographers. Drawing on his experience spending countless hours in mountainous terrain as both a guide and photographer, Mark brings an intuitive understanding of how weather, light, and landscape interact, and how that domain knowledge shapes the logic and behavior of an app. This session is designed for knowledge workers and domain experts who are non-developers that want a clear mental model of what it takes to build a mobile app using AI. Along with a hands-on workshop, you’ll gain an understanding of the tools involved and inspiration to see how your own domain expertise could become the foundation for software. RSVP for the event at: https://lnkd.in/gCj-GTD5

Talking to users and thoughtfully integrating their needs and wants was woven through everything we did at IDEO—threaded through every prototype and product decision. Reading my colleagues Joanne and Leo's latest work brought that to mind. They describe a future where research runs continuously, with AI agents recruiting participants and instantly surfacing insights. Synthetic personas, carefully trained on consumer signals, mirror human behavior closely enough to extend live studies and compress timelines from weeks to hours. Today user research mostly runs in fits and starts, prohibitively expensive and locked away in dedicated project cycles when it could be a constant companion, seamlessly integrated into the product development process. Joanne and Leo lay out the full vision here: https://lnkd.in/gEUBSG_J

Launch day! Continuing the drum beat on new provider integrations: today we're announcing a native integration with Anyscale! Anyscale kicks off a series of AI-specific provider integrations we're going to be announcing for the remainder of the year. When I started Vantage, I had a belief that companies were going to be using more and more third-party providers beyond the main three hyperscalers to run their infrastructure. Today, AI has materially accelerated that trend. Each of these AI providers has their own bespoke pricing structure that we need to work with to provide the single pane of glass view into total cost of ownership for an organization. As companies leverage these AI providers, they expect that their Finops platform has support accordingly. As with the ~25 other native integrations Vantage currently supports, Anyscale costs will support all the #FinOps features you know and love across cost allocation, budgeting, forecasting and beyond. Getting starting is as simple as providing an API key and we do all the heavy lifting from there. To see all the details, check out the blog post below.

There is a lot of AI doom-posting in the news right now with narratives focused on displacement and "doing more with less." At Addepar, we reject that premise. The investment industry doesn’t have a talent problem; it has a time problem. The global ecosystem is massive, fragmented, and increasingly complex. The "noise" of manual workflows and data silos shouldn't be the ceiling for what’s possible. Today, we are officially unveiling Addison. Addison is a native AI experience built to deliver actionable intelligence across investment workflows. We didn’t build it to replace the human element, we built it to accelerate it. In an industry built on trust and strategy, the human judgment remains irreplaceable. Our vision is simple: AI finds the patterns; you make the judgment calls. AI processes the "what"; you own the "why." We believe AI is the tool that finally allows investment professionals to get back to the high-value, high-impact work that actually moves the needle. The future of finance isn’t about automation for the sake of efficiency. It’s about empowerment for the sake of impact. Let’s go build the future. #Addepar #Addison #WealthTech #AI #Innovation #InvestmentManagement

We at Foundation Capital been closely tracking the shift from software-as-a-service to services-as-software for over a year. In my latest with Jaya Gupta, we distill a year of learnings into three high-level trends: ➡️ Features aren’t your moat anymore - differentiation comes from how deeply and effecitvely you integrate your product into the customer’s world. ➡️ The traditional pre-sales vs. post-sales divide is gone - customers expect a working solution during the sales process. Selling and implementation have fused into a single, continuous effort. ➡️ Pay for outcomes, not seats - pricing is moving from per-seat or per-API charges toward alignment with business outcomes (you pay when the AI actually delivers value). There's lots of complexity in pulling this off, but it's where the strongest AI startups are heading. Why do these shifts matter? Because beyond the $200B SaaS market lies a $4.6T pool of spending on labor and services that this wave of AI companies is poised to absorb. Our full piece here: https://lnkd.in/gyBKXcit
