The uc2c.ai team will be at CERAWeek on Wednesday. I want to share why this work matters to me personally. I spent nine years as a process engineer - designing offshore production systems and later operating an FPSO in Brazil. The consequences of getting it wrong were never abstract. Looking back, there were three situations where better hazard awareness would have changed how I worked. Capital investment decisions. Safeguarding design is a tradeoff, not a ratchet. Too little protection leaves real risk unmitigated. Too much creates spurious trips, operational complexity, and the very downtime you were trying to prevent. Getting it right requires knowing how similar configurations have performed elsewhere. That global context was the resource I didn't have. Process upsets. The calculus is unforgiving: every minute of downtime has a cost, and the team will not move until it understands the hazards. Speed and safety are not in conflict - but both depend on assembling a complete, reliable picture of the situation immediately. In my experience, that picture took far too long to assemble. Hazard study quality. The experts I worked with in those rooms knew more than any database could capture. The limiting factor was never their expertise - it was the information available to apply it to. Time spent reconstructing what was already known elsewhere in the company is time the industry's best technical minds are not spending on the work only they can do. I co-founded uc2c.ai because the technology now exists to close these gaps in a way it didn't before. That is what we are presenting on Wednesday. #CERAWeek #ProcessSafety

The uc2c.ai team will be presenting at CERAWeek on Wednesday 3/25. I wanted to add some context on what makes this technically distinct — and why that distinction matters. The process safety domain has not been well-served by general-purpose AI. The reason is fundamental: large language models generate fluent, confident outputs that may or may not be grounded in the source material. In most applications, that is a manageable tradeoff. In a safety-critical environment, it is not. An answer that sounds right but cannot be verified is not useful — it is a liability. We built uc2c.ai around a different architecture. Our system extracts and links information only from what it can directly trace to source documents — HAZOP records, incident reports, equipment histories, procedures. It does not infer. It does not interpolate. Every output carries a direct reference to its origin. The constraint is intentional. Reliability in this domain requires that the system know the boundary between what it knows and what it doesn't. That design decision unlocks something that has not previously been achievable at scale: the ability to surface the specific hazard context — relevant incidents, barrier status, procedural requirements — for a given piece of equipment or operating scenario, in the time available to act on it. The operational and financial implications are significant. Unplanned downtime in process industries costs the sector an estimated $50 billion annually. A meaningful share of that is preventable with better hazard intelligence. We are building the system to deliver it. #CERAWeek #ProcessSafety
