He calls it the paradox of #medicalAIimplementation. AI in #radiology and #ophthalmology is outperforming specialists. Detecting pancreatic cancer 3 years earlier. Identifying 15+ conditions from a single retinal scan. And almost none of it is being used clinically. Meanwhile, LLMs with far thinner evidence are being deployed by 35% of #physicians, with almost no prospective validation. His conclusion: we are deploying the least proven AI the fastest. This matters for #homehealth and #hospice operators right now. The #documentation problems that cost #agencies the most are not complex #clinical decisions, they are workflow failures: missed fields, inconsistent scoring, #QAteams catching the same avoidable errors week after week. That is an operational infrastructure problem, not a clinical intelligence problem. #IOHealth was built for exactly that layer. Sessions like “AI in the Wild – #AI Applications That are Improving Care and Quality of Life at Home” highlighted how real-world AI deployments, from care coordination to condition monitoring, are beginning to deliver tangible outcomes, while “Care Transitions – How AgeTech Innovations Are Driving Better Outcomes” underscored the persistent fragmentation between settings and the opportunity for smarter, tech-enabled handoffs. The candid dialogue in “AgeTech Adoption – A Conversation About Overcoming Implementation Friction” reinforced that the biggest barriers are not innovation, but workflow integration, trust, and #changemanagement. After an excellent networking session, the conversation sharpened further with “Hidden in Plain Sight – Opportunities to Serve the Needs of #OlderAdults Living in Affordable Housing,” where the intersection of #housing and #healthcare was positioned as one of the most underleveraged levers in the system. Finally, “Growth Strategies – New and Innovative Revenue Streams for Home Care Agencies” brought it all together, emphasizing that sustainable innovation must tie directly to economic value- unlocking new models for agencies navigating workforce constraints, reimbursement pressure, and rising demand. I use BirdsEye more than any other birding app on my phone, and that is saying a lot. They have a wonderful product and I reached out to them because I wanted to make it better. A large part of the value in their app comes from crowd-sourced information (cool!). The most obvious example is bird sightings, but BirdsEye also crowd-sources the photography that they use (very cool! and right up my ally).
When I approached BirdsEye the site they used to accept photo submissions was a little…I use BirdsEye more than any other birding app on my phone, and that is saying a lot. They have a wonderful product and I reached out to them because I wanted to make it better. A large part of the value in their app comes from crowd-sourced information (cool!). The most obvious example is bird sightings, but BirdsEye also crowd-sources the photography that they use (very cool! and right up my ally).
When I approached BirdsEye the site they used to accept photo submissions was a little clunky and difficult to use. Having already written BirdingBuddies and my own photography portfolio I thought I could contribute a considerable amount to a redesigned and rewritten photography site.
Having finished the project I'm happy with the results, and I think the client is even happier (see testimonial below). The site is slick, easy to use, and, most importantly, it's encouraging more photo uploads and community engagement. It's a very neat community and I'm excited to have my own profile on the new site.Other creators -

💡 How it all started! Back in 2015, AMS was asked by a number of leading consulting engineers that included Hazen and Sawyer, Corona Environmental Consulting, LLC, Black & Veatch, Carollo Engineers to support their evaluation of different legacy technologies for hexavalent chromium treatment by providing them with high-frequency, real-time data on the performance of those systems. That gave us all an up-close insight into the multi-points of failure, unreliability and high costs of those systems and it was not pretty 🤮 . That problem (where all innovations start) motivated us to develop a completely novel approach to the removal of this toxic contaminant that was based on the well-understood and documented chemistry of stannous, a safe, clean chemical, that because of its properties can only be made on-site. In the intervening period we have proven this technology, secured its designation as Best Available Technology and demonstrated at numerous sites across California (without a $ of taxpayer or ratepayer money) that it can deliver safe drinking water at a fraction of the cost and far less environmental impact than those legacy technologies. And so for any consulting engineer, city manager or engineer here is why it should be seriously considered. And it begs the question, why are those legacy technologies still being exclusively proposed when delivering safe drinking water at an affordable price and minimizing the burden on taxpayers and ratepayers, many of whom live in underserved communities, is surely our professional goal and obligation as responsible citizens? The Water Council has invited us to talk about Green Steel Environmental and our work to build a circular economy in nutrient management in wastewater treatment.
