This larger dataset allows for narrower confidence intervals and includes results from Austin, where we now have accumulated sufficient data to show statistical significant outcomes. This analysis confirms the strong safety performance of the Waymo Driver, making a meaningful difference in road safety in the communities we operate in.

One of the most effective things I’ve seen on large hardware programs is surprisingly simple: Create a single, clear source of truth for decisions, risks, and timelines and review it weekly with the right stakeholders. It cuts down last-minute escalations, builds real cross-functional trust, and makes launches far more predictable. Complexity doesn’t need more process. It needs clarity.

But here's the real question: What good is a 5-minute charger if the grid can't support it? While we obsess over hardware breakthroughs—bigger batteries, faster chargers—we're missing the bigger picture. A single ultra-fast charging station can draw as much power as a small neighborhood. Waymo in Complex Traffic Conditions. I had the pleasure of testing Waymo again—this time in dense evening traffic in Santa Monica, Los Angeles. And honestly, I keep getting more impressed. Many drivers in LA push the limits—ignoring rules and driving aggressively just to get ahead.Waymo handled the situation with ease. It made confident lane changes in tight traffic when it could speed up the ride—just like a highly experienced taxi driver would.At this point, I actually feel safer with Waymo than with a human driver—even myself. And that says something, considering I’ve driven nearly a million kilometers without ever causing an accident. Meanwhile, Waymo is rapidly expanding across the U.S.—already operating in Phoenix, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Miami, Austin, and Atlanta. They’ve even begun testing internationally in Tokyo. But there’s no rollout planned in Europe yet, simply because the legal framework isn’t in place. That’s a real shame.The technology is here. It works. It’s safer than most people realize. But until European legislation catches up, we’ll be watching this future unfold from the sidelines.
