And honestly, I’ve rarely seen it being the bottleneck. Most companies aren’t struggling because of their tech stack. They struggle because they can’t deliver fast enough or adapt when needed. The oddly ignored reality of .NET development in 2026: You're not just writing C# anymore. Instead, as a modern .NET developer, you have to be something of a Swiss Army knife. I remember working on a feature that included: - Implementing a scheduled job to populate the DB with data - Using that data in a Power BI report - Using Azure DevOps and Azure Functions to deploy the report to 100s of customers worldwide For 1 feature, I needed 4 different skills. This is what backend .NET development looks like in 2026: 1) You still need the fundamentals: - Building REST APIs that don't break under load - Writing Entity Framework queries that perform well - Understanding async/await without creating deadlocks 2) But the job has expanded into cloud architecture: - Choosing between Azure App Services, Container Apps, or Azure Functions - Designing database schemas for CosmosDB vs SQL Server - Setting up Service Bus for reliable messaging 3) DevOps isn't optional anymore: - Your CI/CD pipeline needs to deploy without manual intervention - Containerization with Docker is expected, not a nice-to-have - You're responsible for monitoring and logging 4) And security? That's on you too: - Implementing OAuth 2.0 flows correctly - Understanding Microsoft Entra ID integration - Knowing how to protect sensitive data Oh, and make sure to add a bit of AI. This shift from "code writer" to "system builder" is both wild and exciting. At college, I was googling: "How do I implement X feature?" These days, I ask AI: "What are the long-term implications of this architectural decision?" They say: When you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail. Exploring Edge AI through a personal project: I built an offline Android voice assistant specifically for Serbian language. Using C++ NDK with Whisper.cpp, it features fully local speech recognition and synthesis - no data leaves the device. The project combines Whisper.cpp with Silero VAD for speech recognition (outperforming traditional DSP pipelines) and includes Jaro-Winkler/Levenshtein algorithms for better Serbian command matching. Architecturally, it's hybrid - using Android's built-in ASR/TTS as fallback but designed to work 100% offline. While currently on Android, the core is portable to Raspberry Pi and other embedded systems. Current status: Working offline ASR/TTS for Serbian, Android integration complete, focused on enhancing Serbian query understanding and natural language processing. Stop Using WebSockets for Everything 🛑 If you are building a notification feed, a stock ticker, or a progress bar in Symfony, you probably don't need WebSockets. I see so many teams adding the complexity of Socket.io or Pusher when their requirement is purely unidirectional (Server → Client). What I Learned in 2 Years as a .NET Developer Two years in C# and .NET have taught me that software development is much more than just writing code. Here are some important lessons I learned: 1️⃣ Debugging is more important than writing code. 2️⃣ Clean architecture is better than quick fixes. 3️⃣ Understanding business logic matters more than just finishing tasks. 4️⃣ Communication is also a technical skill. Vue Is Not a Framework. It’s a Reactivity Engine. Most developers think Vue is about: • Components • Templates • Directives • Single File Components That’s surface level. At its core, Vue is a reactivity system. And if you don’t understand that system, you’re coding by coincidence. What Reactivity Actually Means Reactivity is Vue’s ability to: • Track dependencies automatically • Detect state changes • Update only what depends on that state When a reactive value changes, Vue doesn’t “re-render everything.” It tracks: • Who depends on this value? • What computations use it? • What parts of the DOM rely on it? Under the hood (Vue 3), this is powered by Proxy-based dependency tracking. That’s why it feels “magical.” But it’s not magic. It’s a well-designed graph of dependencies. Where Developers Get Into Trouble Most Vue bugs happen when: • You destructure reactive objects incorrectly • You misunderstand ref vs reactive • You mutate state outside Vue’s tracking • You rely on watchers instead of computed properties • You forget that reactivity has boundaries When something “doesn’t update,” it’s usually not Vue’s fault. It’s a misunderstanding of the reactivity model. Why This Matters for Scalable Apps Understanding reactivity helps you: • Avoid unnecessary watchers • Prevent performance issues • Structure state correctly • Debug confidently • Write predictable UI logic Small apps forgive misunderstanding. Large apps amplify it. And once your component tree grows, reactivity mistakes become architectural problems. A Mental Shift Don’t think: “How do I update the DOM?” Think: “What state drives this UI?” In Vue, the UI is a projection of state. Control the state correctly, and the UI behaves predictably.
