It's only been 2.5 days working on the⚡️bolt.new Hackathon...and we have a fully functional Supabase CSV-to-Database prototype working!!! 🤯 We dove into Anthropic Claude Code's parallel agents to help with the build-out and holy crap it's AMAZING! Vibe Coding = Punk Rock Software 🎸 As a music nerd, I loved this analogy from Rick Rubin on the a16z podcast. Just like punk rock lowered the barrier to making music, LLM-based tools are now doing the same for software. It’s scrappy and fast. You don’t need years of technical training, just like you didn’t need more than three chords (or the ability to sing) to start a band 😁 Why does AI-generated code or art trigger resistance? To draw another music analogy: this feels a lot like when hip hop producers first started sampling. The tools changed, and the gatekeepers pushed back. But a sampler (like an LLM) has no taste or intention. The creator brings that. If anything, having a strong point of view then matters even more now. Because the tools are available to everyone. But the ideas are still up to you. P.s. I know tools like Cursor or Lovable won’t ship production ready code. Just like punk bands still needed real engineers and studios for their albums, non-technical builders still need great developers to bring it all to life at scale. But the starting point is very different from a few years ago. And that's exciting to me. #innovation #vibecoding #nocode

Anecdotal, but with all the advances it still seems like 99% of the buzz in #AI filmmaking is coming from mediocre writer/producer/directors crowing about how they can now generate unlimited quantities of slop without hiring any trades (and you can, too!). For those of you who are humans, this will reduce the opportunity to participate in low quality output (the kind of stuff a lot of us cut our teeth on back in the day). But maybe that's fine. And if you're committed to quality in both output and process, I think there are still opportunities for you. I'm sure there are filmmakers who are doing truly exciting and compelling things with their prompt-writing (the other 1%), but they definitely aren't the ones posting about it here. This post NOT "rewritten with AI."
