NAR has a BIG image problem Among real estate agents surveyed by Zoodealio and ResiClub, National Association of REALTORS® has a net favorability rating of -51. This net favorability rating is calculated by adding up agents with a "very favorable" or "somewhat favorable" view of NAR minus those with a "very unfavorable" or "somewhat unfavorable" view of NAR. Among the 238 real estate agents who took the survey, half (50%) have been real estate agents for 15 years or more. This situation raises questions that should concern all of us, regardless of settlement outcomes. Yes, my brokerage was covered in the NAR settlement. But watching large brokerages - who've contributed significantly more in dues over decades - left unprotected makes me wonder: what exactly are we all paying for? The irony isn't lost on me. Today, smaller brokerages like mine benefited. Tomorrow, the formula could shift, and we could be the ones outside the umbrella we thought we'd paid to stand under. This isn't about celebrating coverage or lamenting exclusion. It's about asking fundamental questions: How does NAR determine who gets protected? What value are membership dues actually purchasing? Is this organizational structure sustainable when protection feels arbitrary? The lack of transparency makes it impossible to assess whether the system is working as intended - or who it's truly designed to serve.
