Today I challenged 15 lawyers at the Westchester County Bar Association to rethink the conversation around stress and burnout. Most people treat stress like it’s purely negative. There’s a zone where stress helps performance and a point where it starts to harm it. The key isn’t eliminating stress. It’s learning how to regulate it. Two ways leaders can start: 1. Model recovery behavior Set boundaries. Take real recovery time. Show your team it’s allowed. Culture is modeled top-down. 2. Normalize the language of self-regulation Talk about focus. Talk about energy. Talk about recovery. When leaders change the conversation, behavior follows. We over-index on one habit as if it solves everything. In reality, well-being requires multiple levers: physical, mental, emotional, occupational, spiritual, intellectual, and social. Your well-being is your responsibility. While the idea that influencers must disclose payments and other compensation received from brands or risk FTC enforcement is nothing new, a recent wave of class actions and NAD challenges shows that the risks --to influencers, brands and agencies--may go beyond FTC enforcement.
