Most supplier collaboration tools work. Until they hit real scale. Portals, viewers, and review platforms reduce friction. But they still assume collaboration happens after the model has been exported. As supplier networks grow — especially across multi-tier global programs common in aerospace and defense — coordination layers multiply. More checkpoints. More oversight. More manual alignment. We expect the 800VDC architecture to be adopted in Rubin Ultra Kyber racks in 2027. Also, in our view, this will lead to significant content value growth for the power-supply industry, driven by (1) expansion into total solution offerings from single PSU modules; (2) high-power components and increasing customization; and (3) bargaining power with limited supply and higher barriers. Expansion into total solution offerings: Instead of supplying PSUs within the compute rack, power-supply vendors offer total solutions, including power racks/SSTs/rectifiers, PDUs, and integrated cooling systems (Exhibit 6). High-power components and increasing customization: The high-power density requires the replacement of traditional silicon-based components with advanced SiC/GaN power semis and high-power components. Besides, as power conversion moves towards the facility level, we expect to see more customized requirements from customers (especially CSPs) to better align with data center layouts and back-up needs. We believe this could bring ASP/margin upside. Bargaining power with limited supply and higher barriers: The SiC/GaN power semis industry is highly concentrated with complex production process and limited supply. Power-supply leaders could enjoy greater bargaining power, supported by higher tech barriers and long-built supply-chain relationship.

As AI workloads eat up global computing supply, DRAM prices are surging like never before—creating major challenges for teams trying to plan out their data center spend. One of my portfolio companies, Mext, is addressing the largest cost component in the datacenter: server memory (DRAM). From being on the board of Redis for the last twelve years, I’ve learned a lot about the various aspects of this problem and approaches to solving them. Mext found a breakthrough, using new AI techniques, for dramatically reducing the amount of server-DRAM required to run applications, all while maintaining performance. It intelligently manages the server’s memory, keeping hot pages (i.e., those in use by applications) in fast DRAM and offloading cold pages (i.e., those less used) to a much less expensive memory tier (e.g., NVMe Flash). Key to the approach is ensuring cold memory pages that are about to be accessed by an application are back in DRAM before the application needs them or notices that they were gone. This is done without modifications to the application or the OS – so it can run in the cloud or on-premise. Mext thus allows applications to either run using less DRAM or keep their DRAM footprint but do more with it.
