Leo Versola reacted on thisLeo Versola reacted on thisThis is one of my first headshot photos from 25 years ago, where I packed up a suitcase, left the UK, and took a chance on building a life in the USA. No guarantees—just curiosity, ambition, and a willingness to see where the journey might lead. Since then, this country has given me opportunities I’m deeply grateful for. I completed my MBA, started my career in a PR agency, moved into tech, and ultimately found my home in cybersecurity. Along the way, I’ve challenged myself outside of work too—learning to sail (and now owning my own boat), learning to ski (and turning that into vacations across the US and beyond), and traveling extensively, including visiting 23 U.S. national parks in just the last year. Perhaps the most meaningful part of this journey has been becoming a parent. My son is proudly, unapologetically American—and watching him grow up here has been one of the greatest adventures of all. I’ll always love my British roots and remain thankful for my family and friends back in the UK who have supported me from afar. That connection will always be part of who I am. As I look ahead, I’m excited for what 2026 has in store—new challenges, new places, and whatever adventures come next. Sometimes, all it takes is one packed suitcase and the courage to say yes.

This script produces randomized alphanumeric captchas with multiple obfuscation layers, including rotation, color variation, spacing irregularities, varied fonts, and noise lines. It is suitable for web applications where strong anti-bot protection is required while remaining readable to human users. Features: * Generates 6-digit alphanumeric captchas. * Randomized fonts for each digit (8 included). * Per-digit rotation between -30° and +30°. * Random horizontal spacing between digits. * Fully randomized RGB color per digit. * 18 random noise lines per captcha with random color and position. * Dependencies: PHP 7+ and GD library. * Obfuscation and Security Analysis This captcha script has been designed with entropy and OCR resistance in mind. The following breakdown demonstrates how each obfuscation layer contributes to overall resilience: 1. Random Digit Sequence Each captcha has 6 characters (0–9, a-z), giving 36 possibilities per digit. Entropy formula: H = log2(N^L) = L * log2(N) Calculated entropy: H_digits = 6 * log2(36) ≈ 31.02 bits Baseline entropy comes from the alphanumeric sequence alone. Font Variability 8 fonts randomly selected for each character. Entropy per character: log2(8) ≈ 3 bits For 6 characters: H_fonts = 6 * 3 = 18 bits Rotation Each character randomly rotated between -30° and +30° (61 possibilities). Entropy per character: log2(61) ≈ 5.93 bits For 6 characters: 6 * 5.93 ≈ 35.58 bits Color Variation Random RGB values per character (256 possibilities per channel → 24 bits) Entropy for all characters: H_color = 6 * 24 = 144 bits Adds complexity for OCR tools that rely on uniform contrast. Horizontal Spacing Variability Random spacing ±10 pixels between characters → 21 possibilities per gap Entropy per gap: log2(21) ≈ 4.39 bits For 5 gaps: 5 * 4.39 ≈ 21.95 bits Noise Lines 18 random lines with random positions and colors Positions: 260×90 pixels → ~23,400 possibilities per line Combined entropy per line: log2(23,400^2) + 24 ≈ 53.07 bits Total for 18 lines: 18 * 53.07 ≈ 955.26 bits Primary obstacle for automated solvers, as lines interfere with segmentation and OCR. Total Approximate Entropy Sum of all layers: H_total ≈ 31.02 + 18 + 35.58 + 144 + 21.95 + 955.26 ≈ 1205.81 bits Ignoring color and noise lines: 31.02 + 18 + 35.58 + 21.95 ≈ 106.55 bits 106 bits is highly resistant to off-the-shelf OCR or AI attacks. https://lnkd.in/egUvWhX4
