This a seductive idea; that organization's context fragments, decision logic gets lost, and an organization is prone to tackle collective amnesia. BUT this comes with a lot of caveats!! - MONOCULTURE: When one system becomes the authoritative interpreter of "why things are the way they are", it will collapse pluralism. An organization actually benefits from various "contested memories". An engineer and sales guy remember different things from a discussion and that helps. Employees can stop arguing with the system not because its correct but its "coherent". - OBSERVER's EFFECT: When people know that the reasoning within systems is being captured, they will change what gets recorded. The negotiations will become "safer" and will contaminate raw signals. - CENTRALIZATION: Interpretation gets centralized upwards. It may appear leadership or executives are gaining synthesis and becoming closer to the ground. But there is no comparison to living through the frictions, not even eclectic summaries. LEADERSHIP MUSCLE NEEDS TO PRACTICE LIVING THROUGH FRICTION OTHERWISE IT WILL TURN SENILE. - BIAS AMPLIFICATION: Model's inbuilt biases can combine with company's cultural quirks resulting in misinterpretations and distortions, worse they get reinforced over time. System will learn how the company thinks and then will optimize for continuity. AMNESIA IS SOMETIME A FEATURE. - SEMANTIC TRUTHS: Unlike objective truths this system will play on subjectivity and will build "causal" relationships that are based on semantics. This over time can form mythical decision norms with no external validity. The real question isn't "CAN IT BE BUILT?". Of course it can be. But "HOW IT SHOULD BE POSITIONSED". #llms #leadership #ai

The Equity team at TechCrunch put together one of the better breakdowns I've heard on the Google-Wiz close this week. If you're in enterprise tech and haven't listened yet, make 20 minutes for it. Shardul Shah (Index Ventures, early Wiz backer) reframed the deal in a way most coverage hasn't. He didn't position it as a cybersecurity story. He positioned it as what happens when AI, cloud, and security spend all converge on one company at the right moment. The part that landed hardest for me: Wiz became a $32B company because most enterprises moved to cloud faster than they built the controls to manage it. The governance layer got skipped. And then they had to buy it back at a price that made history. I support the teams who see this playing out with AI every week. Agents shipping, copilots rolling out, automation programmes kicking off — while governance, observability, and compliance are still somewhere between "next quarter" and "whose budget is that?" EU AI Act enforcement starts in August. That's not theoretical. The Wiz story is a reminder that the unsexy work — assurance, operating models, the governance no one puts in a keynote — is consistently where the value ends up. Seattle VC panels are not exactly known for being spicy, which is why my AMA with Brooke and Rolanda at AI House last night was so refreshing. We got into the questions founders are too embarrassed to ask out loud. How do VCs actually decide behind closed doors? What counts as traction when you have zero revenue? Is enterprise SaaS dead? Do Seattle founders actually have a shot against the Bay Area? A few takeaways that stood out: ✅ Associates can't get to yes without a partner sponsor — but partners often can't reach deals without associate diligence. Arm them with the facts to fight for you internally. ✅ Expect 50-70 investor conversations before a term sheet. Send your deck a day early but assume nobody read it 😎 ✅ Enterprise SaaS isn't dead, but it's shifting from seat-based to usage and outcome-based pricing. Large orgs still need governed software. ✅ Traction isn't just revenue. How excited are your customers? Would they advocate for you? Paying pilots with automatic, KPI-specific conversion > free trials, every time. ✅ Learning slope > starting background. The strongest founders they've backed adapted fast — not started perfect. Brooke and Rolanda WILL take a second meeting even if you whiff the first one! ✅ Seattle has fantastic enterprise buyers and founders with sales relationships into them. But the equity-vs-cash culture gap is real, and hiring against big tech is still hard. What made it different was how candid Brooke and Rolanda were about what actually happens after your pitch ends, aka the internal deal dynamics most founders never see. Shoutout to the room full of 100+ early-stage founders who went against the Seattle grain and asked hard questions live to the VCs. That energy is what makes AI House work. Huge thanks to Brooke B. In the San Francisco Bay Area, founders are relentless about growing and scaling their companies. They spot opportunity, scale through uncertainty, and create companies that redefine industries. Recently, we gathered a group of founders and tech leaders to discuss the intersection of company growth and long-term personal success. Eric S. Yuan, Founder and CEO of Zoom Communications, shared the inspiring story behind his company’s growth and eventual IPO. Eric reiterated that the founders who create the most impact don’t just plan for an exit – they prepare for what comes after. Too often, personal wealth planning lags company growth, and that gap can become costly at the most pivotal moments. The rest of the evening was focused on closing that gap. Some of the theme & insights I resonated with me. 🛍️ Digital Acceleration: Over the last 3 years, US e-commerce grew 30% while brick-and-mortar saw 5% growth (inflation adjusted). 🤖 AI Backbone: Stripe now powers all of the top AI companies, helping them scale at a pace we have never seen before. 🏢 Enterprise Trust: We are supporting 90% of the Dow Jones and 80% of the Nasdaq 100 as they modernize their financial stacks. 🚀 We're leading the way on agentic commerce, where AI starts to handle the heavy lifting of shopping. While we are currently moving through the first 2 levels, and building toward full anticipation: Level 1️⃣: Eliminating web forms (typing and clicking on your behalf).
