The current project, which I’ve been hooked on developing: a cozy tower crane GTA on a rooftop parking lot. It’s probably going to take me months to get any of these games finished, but it feels cool to have multiple projects to work on, and 3D games in different scales, so there’s lots of 3D modeling to do and to practice on. I’m still posting on Bsky, which you can check out to see more GIFs of my progress.
Finccer, version 1 (Win, Linux)
The downloadable versions of Finccer (for Windows and Linux) are now on itchio: https://ottoojala.itch.io/finccer.
It’s a 1-4 player one-button random finger soccer experience, and a result of me trying to learn the basics of Blender :–) It’s got lots of fun little details, the kind I very much enjoy adding to my games, and might be a fun little game to try out playing against a friend. You can also just play the piano and let the bots do the playing!
I made a font, pirkkala
I’ve never tried making a font before – it is way harder than I thought it would be, but also quite fun. I still might tweak this a bit, or add more characters (now it’s just the lower case English alphabet plus the Finnish ä and ö), but you can download it on itch, and use it as you please, for free.

Trying out Loops.video
I’m giving another Fediverse thing a go – Loops! https://loops.video/@oivoi
I’m not really into watching short-format videos, but I do like recording them, and making all kinds of videos in general is something I enjoy, so let’s see if this will be a better for me (than Lemmy, which I haven’t gotten into at all, sorry for that). I think the videos are going to be similar to my gameplay GIFs on Bsky, so mostly just simple, low-effort recordings of my screen as I do stuff. Let’s see how this develops!
New side project
I like starting projects as excuses to learn new things, and it had been a while I had worked on a local multiplayer game, so here’s the new game: a one-button physics-based finger soccer thingy. The finger is my first ever Blender model, but it looks just fine in this low-res setting, which I really like using anyways. This also feels like a perfectly complementary project to the other one I’m working on, and I’ve already found new ways to improve on the main project while designing this.
For more GIFs on this project, you can check out my Bsky, where I’m still posting almost daily, or if you’re on the Fediverse, and would like to leave a comment or whatnot, you can head on to my Lemmy community – you’d be the first one to post, it has not been very active :–)
Now on Lemmy!
If you have a Fediverse account and would like to be kept updated on my games (or perhaps share a screenshot or whatnot!) you can head on to https://lemmy.world/c/ottoojalagames and subscribe to the community! Bsky will still be the place to see my (almost) daily gamedev videos, and I’ll try my best to keep this website, as well as my Ko-fi page, up to date, too :–)
(Almost immediately after my first post on Lemmy I got my first down-vote, proving the social media platform is at least somewhat active!)
Otto’s Basketball Game now done and on Itch.io
The one-button basketball game is now done! I’m still updating it with any bug fixes it might need, and tweaks to make it even nicer feeling, but I think this turned out fine :–) Go give it a try: https://ottoojala.itch.io/ottos-basketball-game
Since Google still allows side-loading, I’ll probably make an Android version of this, too. And a maybe stripped-down version for PortMaster!
Otto’s Basketball Game v.0.9.2 on Itch.io
The side project is closer to being done and you can already play it on itch.io! Maybe leave a comment if you find the time to try it out? :–)

A basketball game side project
I’ve been taking a break from the main project to, of course, work on a side project :–) I’m trying to find the kind of games I’m best at making, and what feels the nicest for me to develop. As an exercise, I started this simple one-button basketball game, which has a lot of the elements I like in a game project: something simple, that I can add tons of details to, and fun physics. I’m still figuring out the details on this basketball game, but I’m planning on getting it done soon, in a week or two. I’d also love to work on new local multiplayer games, too, so perhaps after this, and the current main project, it’s time to get back designing more of those!
Otto’s Tennis game on PortMaster
Otto’s Tennis game is now live on PortMaster’s game catalogue, ready for you to download straight from your handheld console. I made this version of the game especially for these cheap little Linux handhelds – it has pixel perfect graphics and proper gamepad controls :–) Thanks Tabreturn and the rest of the PortMaster team for handling the PortMaster side of things. I’m using an older version of Godot myself, but if you’re into making your own games for these devices, and you’re a Godot 4 user, you might want to take a look at Pyral’s guide and and/or go to PortMaster’s Discord server.
