Matt George reposted thisMatt George reposted thisTIME named Databricks one of the 10 most influential software companies in the world. What an honor! It’s a good reminder of how far we’ve come. Six years ago, our founders had just introduced their vision for the Lakehouse category. Now it’s the industry standard. Today, we’re in the middle of creating a new category again, but this time it’s databases built for the AI era. #Lakebase To our customers and partners, thank you for trusting us. We wouldn't be here without your feedback and support. To the Databricks team, this recognition belongs to you. Thank you for the work you put in every day. There is still so much to build, and I couldn't be prouder to do it alongside this team. https://lnkd.in/eWRjsg6C

Matt George shared thisToday, we’re launching Lakewatch, the Open Agentic SIEM, replacing proprietary SIEMs like Splunk. AI-driven attacks now operate at machine scale, with mean time to exploit collapsing from 23 days to under 2 days in the past year. Defenders can’t keep up with humans alone. Lakewatch changes that! #DatabricksMatt George shared thisWe believe security needs to be open and agent-centric. 𝐋𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 is built directly on the open data lakehouse pattern. By bringing agentic automation directly to where your open data already lives, we're automating the heavy lifting in the Security Operations Center. As a result, you keep ownership of your data, your agents can operate on absolutely everything, and you get it done in a architecturally cost efficient way. https://lnkd.in/gHdPbF6a

Matt George reposted thisMatt George reposted this🚀 I just witnessed something live that rarely happens in a workshop a brand-new product being demoed publicly for the very first time. I attended 'AI-Powered Data Engineering: Techniques for Modern Data Professionals,' and Frank Munz Principal TM Engineer at Databricks, casually dropped mid-session: "This was announced 48 hours ago. You're the first people to try this in a live workshop." He was talking about Genie Code in Databricks' AI agent that writes your entire data pipeline from a plain-English prompt. Here's what it did live: ✅ Read a JSON volume it had never seen before ✅ Detected multi-line JSON + nested sub-structures automatically ✅ Proposed a Bronze/Silver/Gold medallion architecture ✅ Generated all 3 pipeline files in parallel ✅ Ran dry-run validation, then executed the full pipeline ✅ Gold tables with customer tier analytics — populated in minutes But the thing I respect most about Frank's approach? He spent the entire first half teaching the fundamentals — Streaming Tables, Materialized Views, Lakeflow's 3 pillars, Unity Catalog lineage — BEFORE showing the AI magic. Because as he put it: "If something goes wrong, you need to step in and correct things. The day you can't judge whether AI produced something sensible — that's the day you lose control of your pipeline." AI-powered data engineering is here. But the professionals who master the foundations will always be the ones who wield it best. Thank you Frank Munz ☁️ 🧱 for a genuinely next-level session 🙌 #Databricks #DataEngineering #GenieCode #Lakeflow #SparkDeclarativePipelines #AIEngineering #ModernDataProfessionals #DataPlatform #USA #AnalyticsEngineer

Matt George shared thisTwo things stood out to me when I was considering joining Databricks. My manager told me, “Databricks just works…and we’re just as obsessed with our customers as they are with Databricks.” Last week, we heard directly from one of our 20,000 customers, sharing their journey and outcomes. I’m fired up to help one of my own customers sit in that seat next to Ali Ghodsi this year and tell their story of what they’ve achieved with Databricks.Matt George shared thisThank you to Databricks for having me at their All Hands. It was a pleasure to share and discuss the technology we are building at Tonal. What I consistently appreciate about Databricks is the genuine attention to customers and feedback. I have seen it firsthand over the years, and again on Thursday while chatting with Ali Ghodsi about data and intelligence. That customer-first mindset is the reason people love the company, and why it continues to earn deep trust and strong support from its investors. Thank you Sara S. and Yulia Pavlova for the kind invitation.

Matt George reacted on thisMatt George reacted on thisRefining the future of tech means starting at the roots. I am incredibly proud to have helped in the inaugural AI Quest pilot, the newest expansion of our Quest program! We brought together 88 brilliant students across Fort Worth and Orlando to tackle real-world technical challenges. Seeing these teams navigate ambiguity and make critical decisions using evolving AI models was a powerful reminder of why we invest in the next generation of talent. This launch was a massive lift that required intense coordination, innovation, and adaptability. I want to extend a huge thank you to the 188 employee volunteers who dedicated their time to mentor these students and bring this vision to life. By fostering STEM engagement in our communities, we aren’t just solving problems for today—we’re showing the leaders of tomorrow that Lockheed Martin is the place to apply emerging technical skills to the world's most complex missions. Onward to the next one! 🚀 #LockheedMartin #AIQuest #STEM #ArtificialIntelligence #FutureTalent #Innovation #Leadership

Matt George liked thisAnother milestone for our AI Fight Club™ team, who completed the inaugural event in collaboration with Ansys Government Initiatives (AGI) and ATG recently. This event makes large-scale simulation-based AI agent testing a reality, without being constrained by limits of the real world. Matt George liked thisMatt George liked thisRefining the Future of AI I’m still buzzing from the energy at this week’s Frontier Operations Cohort Face-to-Face (F2F). It was an incredible opportunity to step away from the screens and dive deep into the strategic roadmap for our AI initiatives. One of the most rewarding aspects of the event was identifying the incredible AI talent within our organization. The brilliance on display during our sessions makes it clear: we have the expertise right here to lead the industry. These insights are directly shaping our upcoming AI Strike Teams, ensuring we have the right minds tackling our most complex technical challenges. A Heartfelt Thank You 1. Matt George liked thisMatt George liked thisMercedes-Benz AG is rethinking how data powers the shift to electric and connected vehicles. By moving from siloed systems to a cross-cloud data sharing model, they cut egress costs by 66%, improved data freshness, and made critical after-sales insights more accessible across teams. Warranty cases that once waited seven days for fresh data now get updates every two days, building a stronger foundation for the "data-defined vehicle." https://lnkd.in/gBymtzHz

Matt George liked thisMatt George liked thisI managed Microsoft's Data & AI business across the Southern U.S. Before that, I worked closely with many SAP customers helping them run their backoffice operations more efficiently. I've lived on both sides of this. So when I say most energy companies are running operational reporting on infrastructure that was never designed for AI, I'm not guessing. I've sold it, managed it, and watched it hit its ceiling. The pattern is the same everywhere we walk into. Production data in a historian. Financial data in SAP. Maintenance logs in a separate database. Field data in spreadsheets nobody trusts. Four systems. Four versions of the truth. Zero ability to run AI across any of it. This is the operational reporting problem nobody wants to talk about. Not because they don't know it exists. Because fixing it means rethinking the architecture, not just adding another dashboard. Databricks changed this for us. One governed layer across all of it. Operational analytics and AI on the same platform. SAPPHIRE is next week. Every energy CIO will be in Orlando talking about SAP's AI vision. But the real question is what happens to the 80% of your operational data that lives outside SAP. That's the conversation worth having.
