Nolan Church shared thisCassie Chao Leemans is the tip of the AI Recruiting spear. And with some light cajoling, she came on this week's episode of 10X to talk about her AI journey :) A few things we discussed: -> How she went from experimenting with AI to launching products with real utility -> Showing us what she's building (and why) -> Why going straight to Claude Code vs Cowork is the move (huge unlock for me) -> Why you need to abandon perfection as a goal when vibe coding I learned a ton in this episode. You will too. Link in comments - enjoy!

Nolan Church posted thisFirst impressions matter. Nail your career story, and you'll nail your first impression. I talked to 3 *incredible* people yesterday. Stellar backgrounds. All struggled to articulate a compelling career story. And they lost me. I started daydreaming, checking X, and scanning my texts. What didn't work: -> Leading with things that don't matter ("I just got finance to approve a new tool!") -> Rambling + corporate jargon -> Not directly answering my question What works: -> A 60–90 second overview. Give me a slice of the greatest hits, not the whole album. Make *me* ask the follow-ups -> Open with a strong sentence that drives my curiosity -> End with: “That’s the high-level. Happy to go deeper on anything you find interesting” -> Share something I can't already see on your LinkedIn -> Truth. When I ask a follow-up question, say things like "That wasn't part of my mandate" instead of word salad Make me want to ask the next question. Career storytelling is a skill, not a personality trait. Practice. Record yourself. Run reps with a friend or an AI until your 60-second version is tight.

Nolan Church shared thisTaste is the moat in the Agent era. And recruiting will be one of the few durable careers going forward. But not the recruiting of 2012-2021. Outstanding, white-glove, deeply human recruiting will endure. Mediocre recruiting is already dead. On this week's episode of 10X Recruiting by Metaview, Scott Bianco and I discussed: * Why taste is the moat (and how to acquire taste) * The importance of leaning into vibes hiring * How AI is killing bad recruiters and making the great ones lethal And much more. Scott is outstanding. Hope you enjoy this one as much as I did! Link below :)

Nolan Church shared thisRobinhood has a futures bet on more tech layoffs in 2026 than 2025. 84% believe it will be higher (me too). But do we really live in a world where people bet on this?

Nolan Church posted thisWhen you recruit exceptional people, you’re not just closing the candidate. You need to close their family. Mike Moriarty told me how the Founder at Human Capital closed him. Before extending the offer, Baris sat down with Mike and his wife Nikki. He acknowledged what was being asked of Mike, answered Nikki's questions, and made sure *the family* was aligned before day one. Genius. And it was just a taste of what I learned from Mike in this episode. A few standout ideas from this episode of 10x Recruiting: -> The best recruiters are more human, not more transactional -> Events are an underrated recruiting weapon -> You can't recruit well from a distance -> Great recruiting attracts the right people and repels the wrong ones -> The future of recruiting belongs to operators This is one of the most insight-dense conversations we’ve had on the show. Everyone will learn something from Mike. Link in comments. Enjoy!

This year I got to spend time in the literal dugout with the Ashby team and some incredible folks in the recruiting ecosystem at an SF Giants game. I can't make it this time around, but I'll be refreshing the feed for updates from everyone in the building. There hasn't been a more critical moment to get together and share what's actually working with AI in recruiting. We are very much still in the first inning… ⚾️ Heard there are some big announcements dropping too. 👀

Nolan Church liked thisNolan Church liked thisWhy is Korea our first international Sovereign AI initiative at Reflection? Several Reasons: 1. AI Front Line: Korea is the front line of a global race to build Sovereign AI infrastructure either on top of Chinese or American AI Tech stack. We are committed to making sure our ally has the best technology available (including frontier open-weight models) to build their own AI Factories and Korean models. America cannot afford to lose this race. 2. Ahead of the Curve: Korea is pushing the pace in AI adoption in government and in the enterprise. 3. Trusted Partner: Shinsegae, our Korean partner, is an innovative, forward thinking company re-thinking how AI can transform their operations and how they can share this knowledge and technology with the rest of the Korean economy. If you are committed to making sure the AI ecosystem is open, and driven to see our global allies build their AI infastructure on the American tech stack consider joining us: https://lnkd.in/gt2rerNb

Once again I learned that you simply cannot keep AJ Thomas ⚡️ down once a vision has a hold of her.She and her team have recruited some outstanding speakers that I can't wait to see on stage. If you haven't heard of Human+Tech week, it's an offsite for people building what comes next across health, work, and cities, with the human stakes kept front and center. This topic of how AI will change the nature of work has been something we've all been thinking about for a few years now, but 2026 feels like the one where the real impact -- good and bad -- is starting to really come through. (For me, 2025 was the year people kept asking "but can you show me any real problems you've actually solved". Those questions seems to be fading away). If you're curious about resolving Human+Tech= ..... That's what we'll be discussing. There is a wide range of industries showing up for this. I'm excited -- Come find me there! Nolan Church liked thisNolan Church liked this“Wait…this is actually really good!!!” – the feedback for SOLZI Espresso Tonic is in!! THIS is the first milestone Sophy and I have been building towards with SOLZI, and what an exhilarating thrill it is to be at this stage. The past few weeks have been nothing short of a wild ride: 1/ We ran our first production day! Then we shipped some (3 Pallets!) of that run to our own garage 2/ We had the door of that “SOLZI HQ” garage painted LIVE by the incredible Alix Futrell during the most fun and fabulous launch party ever. (Expect nothing less from Sophy C. 3/ Shipped out our first 1000+ DTC cans and counting. Thank you so much to everyone who bet on us before day 1. We’ve been loving the feedback pouring in, which is keeping us energized! 4/ And… we’re now in our first retail stores! But the milestone moment that really stuck with me? Getting to stand behind our sampling cart, offering tastes of SOLZI to complete strangers. What better feeling than capturing the “aha moment” of “wait how is this so refreshing and delicious!?” over and over and over again. This immediately brought me back to to handing out 20% off vouchers for DoorDash in the early days, or handing out fried chicken sandwiches at a Local Kitchens launch. The reaction of giving someone something they love that they’ve never had before just doesn’t get old. We’re still at the very beginning, and now it’s one step more real. People discovering SOLZI for the first time, out in the wild. If you’re in LA, you might just run into us sampling soon! More to come. A lot more. With gratitude, – David

My focus is always on our people, and decisions of this magnitude are never made lightly. To those leaving Coinbase today: I want to express my deepest gratitude. You helped build this company, and your contributions have been vital to our mission. Thank you for everything you poured into your work here. We are committed to supporting everyone who was impacted today through this transition. US employees will receive a minimum of 16 weeks base pay (plus 2 weeks per year worked), their next equity vest, and 6 months of COBRA. Those outside the US will receive similar support. I can personally attest to the high caliber of talent they brought to Coinbase. Others would be lucky to have them. While these departures are painful, the changes we’re making are designed so that Coinbase can navigate the current market swings while becoming a leader in the AI era. We have to adapt to the world as it is today, which means becoming a flatter, more focused organization that uses AI to its full potential. Our mission remains unchanged. We are building the future of the global financial system, and the changes made today ensure we have the speed and agility to lead that charge for years to come.

Weather delays. Compliance gaps. Lost days and lost dollars. Every contractor knows the pain. Pavewise, based in North Dakota and built by operators who’ve lived it, has just raised a $2.5M seed round led by C2 Ventures Fund II, alongside Connetic Ventures, Service Provider Capital, M25, gener8tor 1889, and Broadwater Capital. Their platform brings real-time compliance, weather, and production tracking to road construction, helping crews make better calls, cut rework, and keep projects on time. This is exactly what we mean when we talk about our thesis, Dirty, Dull, and Dangerous innovation: solving real operational problems in essential industries with durable tech. https://lnkd.in/eecPMHdN

Startup hiring is becoming more competitive than many people realize. Ashby’s latest Talent Trends report analyzed over 1,200 venture-backed startups, 32,000 hires, and 11 million applications to understand how hiring is changing across early-stage companies. - The average startup hire now attracts ~340 applications per role. - Remote roles receive about 42% more inbound applications than in-office jobs. - Roughly 15 candidates are interviewed for every hire, highlighting how selective the process has become. https://lnkd.in/gRRKwSZK

From Zero to Rockstar: Building a Scalable Recruiting Engine for Startups BZ is still working on building out program guides for all facets of foundational HR for start-ups. This week we'll get into a bit of the recruiting space and what it takes to get something off the ground that isn't job board spray and pray. Part 1 – Hiring Mindset: From Panic to Strategy What it covers: 🎯 Why “just fill the seat” always backfires. 🎯 Defining the company’s talent philosophy (mission, values, culture add vs. culture fit). 🎯 Building a headcount plan aligned with budget and business goals. 🎯 Introducing the Talent Scorecard — a tool to get everyone on the same page about what “great” looks like. 💯 Key takeaway: Hiring is a strategic lever, not a fire drill.

Shields Group Search

Fractional executives are quickly becoming the secret weapon for Series A founders. Why? Because these part-time leaders bring deep expertise, strategic insight, and immediate impact: without the commitment or risk of a full-time hire. Early-stage teams need heavyweight experience, but also flexibility to shape their leadership for changing needs. Fractional execs step in to build processes, mentor teams, and drive growth goals, typically for a few days a week. Founders stay agile, make stronger decisions, and avoid costly mis-hires. At Shields Group Search, we specialize in matching startups with seasoned fractional leaders. We know where to search, how to assess for cultural fit, and what it takes for a part-time exec to deliver outsized value from day one. Thinking about your first executive hire? Don’t default to full-time. Let us connect you with part-time leadership that can transform your next phase.
