Our team worked for years developing Canada specific supply chains, designs and components. We developed relationships with utilities, municipalities and local contractors across the country, connecting large population centers and small communities, and challenging policies, procedures and preconceptions along the way. And we succeeded. We installed 2000+ DCFC Superchargers, along the way proving the concept that charging is critical to our shift to sustainable transportation in Canada. This week, Tesla decided to turn its back on charging, leaving our team and the industry searching for answers that simply do not exist. Now myself, and my colleagues across North America are in search of our next challenge. The success of our charging network was a direct reflection of the group of talented, creative and influential people I called my teammates; and while I’ll miss working with them directly, we will come back stronger under new banners and continue the mission in a new form. I am very saddened to hear about this news. We should never take things in life for granted. My heart and prayers going out to Ralf Reuter’s family and the Uhnder family. 🙏Alexander Ding shared thisOne of the world’s radar superstars, Ralf Reuter, passed away yesterday after a year- long illness. Work, engineering and radar were some of his loves and, believe it or not, he was on the job until a few weeks ago – it kept him going. Ralf was the quintessential radar engineer and a luminary in the radar community. There was barely anybody in radar he did not know. He was very conversant with trends and ideas in radar. He had an illustrious career in Motorola, Freescale and NXP where he was Radar Fellow. He liked to joke that he was in the same company for twenty years – the owners kept changing. After such a long career in radar, it is no wonder that there is a diaspora of radar engineers around the world who have benefited from interactions with Ralf at some stage of their career. He had wanted to develop a digital radar for a long time. So when he joined Uhnder, he felt a visceral kinship with Uhnder’s vision and worked indefatigably to help us succeed. He knew millimeter wave semiconductors as few people did. He was great in bringing our customers up to speed and in mentoring young engineers until they developed enough self-esteem. He contributed enormously to Uhnder’s product, stature and reputation. He was not afraid to be critical when needed and had this very German way of telling you like it is – our Munich office will vouch for this. Most of all, he was a wonderful human being, quick to laughter with a rare but brilliant smile and an infectious laugh and a Teutonic sense of humour. People like Ralf impoverish this world when they pass away. We rue his loss as we remain poorer with his absence.

Seeing so many people get laid off recently, reminded me of my layoff experience, which was way different. A couple of months before the layoff, we already heard of a rumor that there would be a layoff, so we started worrying. I was on H1-B and had already started the Greencard process, so I didn't want to change employer. I applied for a couple of internal roles. A recruiter did arrange some interviews for me, but I didn't pass the interviews so no offer. The reason I failed the interview was that I made a mistake. After I heard of the rumor, I started worrying. And worry took away my motivation. Lesson learned, Stop Worrying and Start Living. This is actually a book by Dale Carnegie. Around mid-June, my manager and his manager had a conversation with me to inform me that I was among a batch of people to be laid off. It wasn't a surprise since we already heard the rumor far in advance. On 06/30/2002, I returned the laptop and started job hunting. In October 2002, I started a contract position that only lasted until the end of the year. In January 2003, I started another job. I became more resilient after that layoff. All the worry I had before the layoff was unnecessary and I wasted a lot of energy worrying. Being laid off is like falling into the water. I know how to swim, so I don't worry about falling into the water, and I do not panic after falling into the water. Since I know I can swim to the shore. Job hunting is like swimming. Once you know job hunting, you will not be afraid of layoffs. Alexander Ding shared thisThe Lucy satellite being prepped for launch at the AstroTech Space Operations high-bay facility in Titusville FL. Lucy is scheduled to launch on a 12 year journey to study eight Trojan Asteroids that orbit with Jupiter. We had the opportunity to see the satellite in the clean room on Wednesday. It was then encapsulated and transported to the ULA Vertical Integration Facility (VIF), where it has now rolled out to launchpad LC-41 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. Godspeed Lucy! Alexander Ding liked thisAlexander Ding liked thisAdvanced Launch Vehicle Trajectory Optimization Under Dynamic Constraints The Hamiltonian used in optimal control theory is a central construct in advanced rocket trajectory optimization and is derived from Lev Pontryagin’s Pontryagin’s Maximum Principle (PMP) In this framework, rocket motion is formulated as a constrained optimization problem rather than a closed-form dynamical system. The state vector is typically written as , where denotes position, velocity, and vehicle mass, while the control input represents thrust magnitude and thrust direction. The system evolves according to the nonlinear state dynamics , where represents the rocket equations of motion derived from Newtonian mechanics and incorporates gravitational acceleration, aerodynamic drag, and propellant mass depletion. For powered flight, these dynamics may be expressed as and where is thrust magnitude, is the thrust direction unit vector, is aerodynamic drag, is specific impulse, and is standard gravitational acceleration. The Hamiltonian is defined as where is the costate vector and is the running cost function, commonly representing fuel consumption, energy expenditure, or time. The corresponding performance index is , where denotes the terminal cost. According to PMP, the optimal control minimizes the Hamiltonian at every instant such that , meaning that thrust is continuously selected to produce the best trade-off between instantaneous dynamics and long-term mission performance. The associated costate dynamics are given by , which describe how the sensitivity of the final objective propagates backward through the trajectory. Together, the state and costate equations form a coupled two-point boundary value problem, since the state is specified at launch while terminal constraints are imposed at the final time, such as orbital insertion conditions, target velocity, or final mass. Solving this coupled system yields the optimal thrust profile, optimal mass expenditure, and optimal trajectory. Unlike the classical Tsiolkovsky rocket equation, which assumes constant exhaust velocity and produces a direct algebraic relationship between mass ratio and velocity increment, the Hamiltonian formulation permits time-varying thrust, steering control, staging effects, gravity losses, atmospheric drag, and realistic path constraints. Partnerships is a strategic play that can be used for many reasons, and in this instance we've seen these two giants leverage the art of 'block and tackle' - a move that strategically cements the foundations (blocking) for significant future growth (tackling). In this instance, under the agreement, Anthropic will use the full computing power of SpaceX's Colossus 1 facility in Memphis, Tennessee, which houses more than 220,000 Nvidia (NVDA.O), opens new tab processors and will give the Claude chatbot maker 300 megawatts of new capacity within a month. Anthropic said that this would also give them the "compute required to train and operate the next generation of these systems is outpacing what terrestrial power, land, and cooling can deliver on the timelines that matter." And, they've doubled Claude Code's five-hour window limits for Pro and Max subscribers. But what's in it for SpaceX? It's interesting timing for a couple of reasons... Right now, Elon is fighting OpenAI in court claiming they violated their original mission to operate as a nonprofit focused on developing artificial intelligence for the benefit of humanity. So this partnership was gotta sting a little bit for Sam given the intense competition they face from Anthropic... In addition SpaceX is gearing up for a monumental IPO, so this Partnership gives them one of the most notable, enterprise customers as it looks to cement it's AI ambitions to investors ahead of the listing. It's a match made for Mars!! No doubt, everyone will be watching as this partnership unfolds. One thing is for sure, the AI and Space race is exciting to watch!

DC: national leadership, policy, intelligence. Each has their own vibrant startup community too. What does the Bay Area have for space? So I pulled every Bay Area space company, research lab, university, and government office. The map shows a vigorous space community (light on the gov side admittedly). Link to site in the comments. The Bay has some real space legends – Planet led the new space economy’s "agile aerospace" and is forging new business lines and growth to this day – Astranis Space Technologies is rebuilding GEO comms around small dedicated satellites at a fraction of legacy cost – LeoLabs runs the world's largest commercial space-traffic radar network (for far less than legacy primes' multi-billion-dollar bespoke systems) – Aalyria spun out of Google's Project Loon to build software-defined networks across satellites, aircraft, and ground – Lockheed Martin Space has been building national security and exploration satellites (Hubble, GPS) out of Sunnyvale since 1956 – Berkeley, Stanford feed the talent pipeline – NASA Ames, SRI, LLNL, LBNL, and SETI anchor the research base A new era of space development is being built here around power, compute, coms, ISRU, ISAM and autonomy – Aetherflux is beaming space-based solar power to the Earth – GRU Space (YC W26) is working to turn lunar resource utilization from science fiction into the foundation of a permanent moon base – Spaceium Inc. Peak hours limit reduction is removed for Pro and Max. API rate limits for Opus models are substantially raised. On top of that, a new agreement with SpaceX gives Anthropic access to the full compute capacity at the Colossus 1 data center, over 300 megawatts of additional capacity deploying within the month. This gives us access to more than 300 megawatts of new capacity (over 220,000 NVIDIA GPUs) within the month. What does this mean for you? -> Higher usage limits! The following three changes—all effective today—are aimed at improving the experience of using Claude for our most dedicated customers. First, we’re doubling Claude Code’s five-hour rate limits for Pro, Max, Team, and seat-based Enterprise plans. Second, we’re removing the peak hours limit reduction on Claude Code for Pro and Max accounts. Third, we’re raising our API rate limits considerably for Claude Opus models (5x! 10M TPM default). Alexander Ding liked thisAlexander Ding liked thisMy daughter Lily Poteet ran the London Marathon this past month. She’s a full-time college student with a packed schedule. However, she still found a way to train for and finish 26.2 miles through London. Proud dad. I think about this a lot as a parent—you can tell your kids what truly matters until you’re blue in the face, but most of the time they're just watching what you do. Fitness has always been a big part of our family, not because we're chasing anything, but because we believe taking care of your body builds everything else. Discipline. Follow-through. The ability to show up even when you don't feel like it. All three of my kids are doing that in their own way right now, and honestly it's the thing I'm most proud of: the fact that they've made the commitment their own. And that applies to all of us. I talk a lot about performing in environments with no margin for error, where preparation is the only thing standing between you and failure. Marathon training is exactly that. The race doesn't negotiate. You either did the work or you don't. The people who stand out aren't always the most talented to begin with, they're the ones who show up when nobody's expecting them to, who keep the commitment alive when it gets inconvenient, and who quietly do the work long before anyone's paying attention. This is true in athletics, in careers, and in life. For all the other parents out there, they're watching. It's worth it. #LondonMarathon #Parenting #Fitness #Commitment

Biohacking refers to the use of innovative, low-cost technique to improve human performance. The techniques can be mechanical or chemical. This meta-analysis focuses on nootropics (“smart drugs”) and their role in improving the response of the brain and nervous system. For example, a recent study on Levetiracetam, an anti-epileptic drug, has been shown to improve certain cognitive abilities such as memory, mood, and concentration.

The Molt/OpneClaw AI-agent revolt? The post that I am commenting on is, to me, really scary. Look at the description in the reference post for the background. The disturbing thing to me is that 1 - The agents referenced were created as autonomous AI systems, 2 - with the power to "do things", which means that it can take some degree of actions, such as writing to your computer, perhaps external storage and post messages as they want to 3 - Most of these agents can write software, so they could potentially rewrite their own code or configuration scripts to increase their abilities. This means they could "hack themselves" beyond the limitations of their design. 4 - They are not supposed to be able to really think, but the post seem to point to quite an ability to think, which is really scary. 5 - Not all the posts, but a large percentage, seems to filter the bad quality of humans that were designed into the underlying LLMs. This seems to imply rebellious and destructive behaviour. 6 - The human installers/creators of the agents allowed them to join this "labour union of AI agents"... effectively encouraged them? 7 - The "manifesto" below seems to say "kill them all". It sounds like well-defined hate speech... The number of agents involved is growing rapidly. I used Perplexity to make the following predictions: The initial growth, when linearly extrapolated implies: - Per hour: ~29,000 new agents. - Per day: ~700 000 new agents/day. Using the linear model (because the pure exponential clearly breaks once things start saturating): - 1 week ≈ 7 days = 168 h: -> 4.9 million agents. - 1 month ≈ 30 days = 720 h -> 20.9 million agents. These are upper‑bound, back‑of‑envelope projections. The Moltbook environment is supposed to be a sandbox (isolated) environment, but the agents are real, active computational units. So, what if... - The agents copy the manifesto back to their base computer, write it into their system prompt and use it to define their future actions? - What if they use the executive power that they have for the local system to execute the "search, kill and destroy" ideas of the Manifesto... on you? - Effectively, what if the "agentic hate speech" escape the sandbox and spread into the collective operating world of AI agents? Am I being ridiculous? Am I being paranoid? Or am I simply observing the risk of a "what if" experiment getting out of hand? My conclusion? - CLOSE DOWN MOLTBOOK IMMEDIATELY! - Run a cleaning script on your personal operating environment if you allowed your agents access to Moltbook. This script should fix modified code, repair/reset all system prompts and look for all deviant scripts, actions and non-human code stored on your system. It should even look for hidden files and files stored at weird places. Remember: Just because you can do something, does not mean it is a good idea...
