As people realize that Google can handle their real questions – no matter how specific or complex – they ask even more of them. Some insights we shared on today's Alphabet Earnings call: 1️⃣ AI is broadening what people ask. We’re seeing AI Overviews continue to drive overall Search growth, AI Mode users and usage growing, and Search queries at an all-time high! 2️⃣ Search is becoming more intelligent, personalized, and agentic. Personalization is making Search more helpful than ever, and we’ve been shipping more agentic and multimodal capabilities to help people really get stuff done. 3️⃣ Google Maps got its most significant upgrade of the past decade (...maybe of all time?!) with Gemini. If you haven’t tried Ask Maps and Immersive Navigation, you’re missing out! 4️⃣ Our Gemini models are also fundamentally transforming advertising: helping us improve ads quality and relevance; enhance campaign tools like AI Max; and reinvent ads formats for our new AI experiences. 5️⃣ It’s also been amazing to see the ecosystem come together with the open-source Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP). We recently welcomed new members to the UCP Tech Council (s/o to Amazon, Meta, Microsoft, Salesforce, Stripe who joined founding members Shopify, Etsy, Target, Wayfair, Google), and have been really encouraged to see several partners start rolling out UCP in action! So much progress, still just beginning… a huge thank you to our teams building the future. 🚀

Asked Ulta AI to help me, got a thoughtful comparison across a handful of options, landed on one that actually worked for my skin. The whole thing took about three minutes. And I work here. Ulta AI is translating the expertise from millions of real beauty conversations happening across our 1,500 stores every day into a user-friendly, intuitive shopping assistant. That’s a capability only Ulta Beauty can deliver, because we have those conversations every day. On Google, Ulta Beauty assortment is now shoppable within AI Mode in Search and the Gemini app, rolling out over the next month. When someone asks Google a beauty question, Ulta Beauty products show up with reviews, details, and a streamlined way to buy right there in the conversation. AI is becoming the starting point for how a lot of people shop, and this is a real extension of where guests can find us. Both launches come back to the same idea: trusted curation and expertise, in the places beauty discovery is actually happening. Our first-party models now process more than 16 billion tokens per minute via direct API use, up from 10 billion last quarter. To support this growth, in 2026, just over half of our overall machine learning compute investment is expected to go towards the Cloud business to benefit our customers and partners. This week at Cloud Next we’re sharing an extraordinary range of new partnerships and innovations, including our new Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, the new mission control to build, scale, govern, and optimize agents. We also unveiled our eighth-generation TPUs, including TPU 8t for training and TPU 8i for inference, to provide the massive throughput needed to run millions of agents (great to get my hands on these!) To be the best partner, we always want to be “customer zero” for our own technologies. This helps us imagine, test, build and scale the best Google technologies for our cloud customers, for today and tomorrow. Our database service Bigtable, which powers so many Google services, and our TPUs, which have been so important in training and powering our Gemini models, are great examples. We’ve been using AI to generate code internally at Google for a while. Today, 75% of all new code at Google is now AI-generated and approved by engineers, up from 50% last fall. And teams across the company — from marketing to security — are using AI to work more effectively. We’re firmly in our agentic Gemini era. Amit Pande liked thisAmit Pande liked thisIn the morning, I joined our Prime Minister for lunch with the CEOs of Samsung, LG, and Hyundai among others - a powerful conversation on deepening the India-Korea economic partnership. That evening, I had the honour of attending a State Dinner at Rashtrapati Bhavan with the President of India and H.E. Lee Jae-myung, President of the Republic of Korea. And the setting? Breathtaking. Rashtrapati Bhavan is, without question, the most magnificent Presidential residence in the world. 17 years to build. 340 rooms. 2.5 km of corridors. A dome modelled on the Sanchi Stupa, with pillars echoing the bells of Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain temples. A building designed to project imperial power — now a symbol of the world's largest democracy welcoming the world. At a time when the world is getting fractured, it is time to come together. India is doing exactly that - finding partners with deep complementarity. In technology, manufacturing, infrastructure, and innovation, India and Korea are natural allies. The future is built in partnerships. And moments like these remind me how much further we can go together. #FICCI #IndiaKorea

I was honored to write the new Preface for “Showstopper!” by Gregg Pascal Zachary, which was re-released last week. Revisiting that chapter of my career brought back vivid memories of what it took to build something so ambitious, a team learning, adapting, and inventing in real time. Glad to see Microsoft partnering with Pascal Zachary to publish a new edition of this book as a part of their 8080 book series! What strikes me now is how relevant those lessons still are, especially as we build the next generation of systems. Amit Pande liked thisAmit Pande liked thisSomething big happened last year: LLMs got good at math. In turn, Duolingo engineering got good at using LLMs to build out our math course. Prior to this pivot, our machinery for scaling math was really quite bespoke. It was partially automated, but at the rate we were going, it would have taken years to build a full curriculum for grades 2 through 12. So we did something bold last year: we threw out what we had built and started from scratch. We took what we learned from scaling language courses and pushed it further to invent an entirely new approach for building our math course. We had two main challenges to address. The first was generating hundreds of thousands of exercises across the thousands of math concepts covered in grades 2 through 12. We moved everything into a single monorepo and used custom scripts to generate exercises. On top of that, we have multiple layers of evaluators (e.g., to check for math correctness, clear instructions, valid LaTeX and grade-level appropriateness). Centralizing the prompts and assembly logic allowed our engineers, learning designers, and product managers to "vibe code" together, iterating incredibly quickly and building custom tooling on the fly. The second challenge was generating visualizations of math concepts, some static and some interactive. Math problems require precise diagrams, like graphs, number lines, and angle transversals. At first, we tried giving an LLM a style guide and some examples, but the unconstrained freedom led to highly inconsistent and sometimes nonsensical diagrams. To solve this, we constrained the LLM by creating a visual library. We built an API of small, handcrafted visual components that the LLM could compose together. We spent 6 months on the pivot and it has already paid off enormously: one year later, Duolingo Math now covers grades 2 through 12, including statistics and calculus. This is a great example of how strong engineering systems, combined with AI tooling, can unlock entirely new ways to deliver learning at scale. Check out Duolingo Math here: https://lnkd.in/e2zCSzb4

I met Jensen Huang, Founder and CEO of NVIDIA, at GTC in Washington DC two days ago. We explored how Syntasa has been leveraging NVIDIA technologies to solve some of the toughest data and imagery problems for clients in retail, media & entertainment, intelligence community, govt etc. What started as conversations with reporters about our open architecture approach turned into something bigger. The feedback was clear: open architectures aren't just the future, they're necessary. And the market is proving it. Large organizations are increasingly moving their data and AI workloads to Syntasa precisely because of our open architecture at the enterprise level. No vendor lock-in. No silos. Just innovation at scale. My conversation with Jensen reinforced this vision. We discussed how Syntasa is pushing NVIDIA GPUs to their limits, solving problems that don't have textbook solutions.
