Matt and Ryan participated as students in this semester’s SMU Private Equity and Venture Capital Practicum, working with TCP to evaluate new investment opportunities and present recommendations regarding prospective investments for the Cox M.B.A. Venture Fund. Also, a big thank you to John Terry for including us as a partner for this year’s edition of the Practicum.

Watching Ruthie's Fueled by Good turn one has been one of the most meaningful things I've witnessed. What started as a food truck has grown into a place where people are seen, valued, and given a real shot. A first chance. A second chance. Whatever they need. The Dallas Morning News captured the magic of Ruthie's in their recent piece, and I hope it inspires others to learn more about what's happening in South Dallas. Thank you to everyone who has shown up for Ruthie's this year. Here's to many more. #RuthiesFueledByGoodCurran: In South Dallas, Ruthie's Café serves sandwiches with a side of redemptionCurran: In South Dallas, Ruthie's Café serves sandwiches with a side of redemption

The Louisiana banking landscape is home to a unique and compelling new partnership. This week, Morgan City, LA-based MC Bancshares, Inc. announced its banking subsidiary M C Bank would merge with DMMS Purchaser, Inc., an investor group led by Daryl Byrd, former CEO of IBERIABANK Corp. Performance Trust Capital Partners, LLC served as Financial Advisor to MC Bancshares Inc. in the transaction, continuing a longstanding relationship and a shared commitment to a disciplined process for evaluating capital opportunities. The new executive team additions, supported by the expected hires of client-facing bankers in multiple markets, will set up something meaningful and new for MC Bancshares shareholders. What will not change is the commitment to preserving a community banking model that the company has delivered to customers for decades. Founded in 1955 in the energy and seafood industry hub of Morgan City, M C Bank represents institutions that are the lifeblood of local economies, providing relationship-driven banking, reinvesting deposits into local businesses, and making decisions based on a deep understanding of their communities. In an era dominated by large national institutions, maintaining these local connections is critical for the longevity of small and mid-sized businesses across the Gulf South. This vision is shared by Chris LeBato, CEO of M C Bank, who has been instrumental in strengthening the bank’s culture and expanding its footprint since joining in 2021. “The combination of our associates and the DMMS team creates a powerful alignment of talent, experience, and vision that will propel the bank forward,” said LeBato. M C Bank's roughly 100 employees have all been invited to remain in their current positions and play key roles in the next phase of the company's growth. Chris will continue to play a pivotal role as Managing Director, Vice Chairman, and Chief of Staff, ensuring continuity and reinforcing the hometown spirit that defines M C Bank. His leadership, combined with Byrd’s proven track record and the ongoing partnership with Performance Trust, creates a unique and powerful collaboration that promises to be closely watched by the banking community. Performance Trust congratulates Daryl Byrd, Chris LeBato, and the entire M C Bank team on this announcement. To view all recent transactions, visit https://lnkd.in/gADG5Rre.

Thinking of buying a business with 13% EBITDA margins using an SBA 7a loan? Let’s do the math: SBA wants 1.25x DSCR (minimum) PE prefers 2.0x+ DSCR—because they actually care about margin of safety At 13% margins and 90% leverage, your debt payments will choke the business You’re one slow month away from default. This isn’t a spreadsheet game. It’s real cash, real payroll, and a personal guarantee. High leverage + low margins = you work for the lender. If you’re going to borrow big, buy fat-margin businesses—or don’t borrow at all.
