In February of 2020, the Utah State Legislature merged the governing bodies of the Utah System of Higher Education (our 8 state community colleges and universities) with the Utah System of Technical Education (our 8 state technical and vocational education colleges) into one new governing body called the Utah Board of Higher Education. This board is chartered to oversee the next generation of a unified higher education offering, focusing on the needs of students and our community, developing clear educational pathways for students to choose both technical education offerings and academic degree opportunities to maximize their learning and earning potential in a cost-effective way for the student, their families, and the state. The Board is tasked with implementing and overseeing a "pay for success" public/private partnership to enable underemployed and unemployed citizens with opportunities to obtain real-world workforce skills and secure high-wage/high-skill opportunities while reduce cost/dependency on welfare programs accordingly.

Supporting the effort of 47G to promote and strengthen the Utah Aerospace and Defense industry through stronger connections to our public and higher education industries, building a pipeline of skilled IT students ready for entry level jobs in coding, cloud, AI, and web-development technologies.
