Ara Ohanian shared thisTariffs are no longer a short-term disruption for many SMBs. They’ve become part of the operating environment teams are working in every day. A year later, Netstock's Tariff Impact Report reflects that reality. 72% of SMBs are dealing with cost-related challenges, driven mainly by higher landed costs. More than half say the impact is worse than it was 12 months ago. What stands out is how responses have shifted. 97% now have at least one tariff strategy in place. One in three has changed suppliers in the past year. 73% are planning further ahead. Nearly half say a tariff refund would still meaningfully affect their operations. There’s a clear move away from waiting for stability to building plans that can pivot in the face of uncertainty. I’ve been thinking about this shift in practical terms. Grateful for the experiences and teams I’ve worked with at Infor — a strong foundation for what’s next. At Infor, I led globally distributed teams (~45 FTE) and owned multi-product enterprise platforms used by hundreds of customers. More recently, I led the design and productionization of a multi-tenant, high-performance real-time communication platform with horizontally scalable nodes reaching upto ~1000 calls/sec, leveraging AI-assisted workflows across the SDLC to accelerate iteration and debugging. I've spent the last few years talking to hundreds of leaders: CEOs, CHROs, fractional CPOs, and org design consultants. Almost all of them can tell you exactly what their strategy is. Almost none of them can show you where it lives on a Tuesday afternoon. That gap, between the offsite and the day-to-day, is where 90% of strategies quietly die. Not in a meeting. Not in a decision. Just… gradually. The goals get vague. The accountability spreads thin. The transformation deck gets filed. And six months later, everyone agrees it was a great strategy. That just didn't quite land. We built Spark.work because we got tired of watching good thinking go to waste. Strategy and people management shouldn't live in separate systems. They shouldn't require a consultant to translate between them. They shouldn't depend on whoever updates the spreadsheet. If your strategy can't survive the Monday after the offsite, it's not a strategy problem. It's an infrastructure problem.
