Migrating Big Data Workloads to HDInsight
Microsoft
See publicationMany existing customers run Hadoop clusters to handle their big data workloads. These clusters require continual monitoring to ensure good performance, and maintenance to keep them patched and running safely. Running services in the cloud can alleviate many of these tasks, effectively offloading responsibility to the third party hosting the services. Azure HDInsight provides one such set of services for running big data workloads. The purpose of this guide is to describe how to migrate your…

Big data streaming: Choices for high availability and disaster recovery on Microsoft Azure
Microsoft
See publicationThis guide is relevant for any real-time streaming scenarios that use sensors to manage and monitor complex systems in industries such as smart buildings, communications, manufacturing, retail, and healthcare. The scenario is a fictitious use case based on actual big data streaming customers encountered by the author. Arnab also provides several options for improving high availability and disaster recovery.

Enabling Intelligent Intent Driven Conversational Interfaces (CUI) in Enterprise Applications to drive user experience
Intel Whitepaper
User interfaces are still the primary way with which humans interacts with machines. An average American adult is exposed to screens — TVs, cellphones, even G.P.S. devices — for about 8.5 hours on any given day (STELTER, 2009). From the push button based Human Machine Interface (HMI) to the sophisticated and artificially intelligent touch screen interfaces, user interfaces have come a long way. Today user experience is predominantly determined by the features and capabilities of the user…
Today user experience is predominantly determined by the features and capabilities of the user interface which frees a person from the complexities of computing. Intelligent conversational user interfaces(CUI) improve the user experience substantially by providing the user with an option to simply speak (”converse”) with the application just like another human being and use simple human gestures like a head nod or shake to express agreement or disagreement. Intelligence in this sense signifies that the application interacting with the user should not merely act as a spoken text translator internally but must understand the intent of user’s communication. This paper presents a framework for building a conversational user interaction model in a corporate enterprise application on the lines of an established CUI framework (James Glass, 2004). The paper proves a business case that companies who pioneer and enable technologies in intelligent conversational user interfaces in enterprise applications for their businesses will lead the user experience curve which in turn will enable their businesses compete better in the marketplace.
