Benny Gold reposted thisBenny Gold reposted thisBack in university, Benny Gold was one of the ones we looked up to. A lot of how we approach design today traces back to his mindset, clean, intentional, always in the details. When we were just starting Ageless Galaxy, we flew to LA and made our way to SF to meet him. We were excited, ready to learn, ready to build. What we didn’t realize at the time, he was actually in the process of shutting his store down. On the flight back, that moment stuck with us. He was closing a chapter and we were just opening ours. It made us think about how fragile this journey can be, and at that time it hit different. But we kept going. We stayed in touch, and Benny always showed love and shared game when it mattered. Years later, what started as a what if became real. Benny Gold x Ageless Galaxy. Even with his brand not active at the time, we came together and built something honest. He flew out, connected with the community, and we designed side by side. You can see it in the details, Terry the Space Shuttle in a BG colorway, the golden tooth hidden in there if you know you know, and that last graphic taking SF fog energy and blending it with our batik cloud language. San Francisco to Jakarta. Two cities, one respect. This one was special. We also have a podcast episode from that time that hasn’t dropped yet, a lot of gems in there for designers, founders, anyone building something from nothing. Stay tuned.

Benny Gold shared thisI usually don’t follow trends, but I’ve been loving seeing everyone share their logo work. Big thanks to @logoarchive for posting some of mine. It’s always fun to look back on what we’ve created and share it with people in hopes it sparks something in their own work. Curious if anyone can name the logos in the post. Drop them in the comments. ⬇️❤️

Benny Gold reposted thisBenny Gold reposted thisIncorporating a skating ethos from stickers to stadiums. ⭐🛹 Benny Gold (B.F.A., graphic design, 1998) builds brands that stick — and he knows how to translate good energy into timeless design. As a SCADstyle 2026 guest, design director at Goodby Silverstein & Partners, and freelance artist for the Golden State Warriors, Benny’s work moves from identity systems to stadium-scale activations, always grounded in one concept: make it feel right for the client, and right for you. Benny met with Bees and SCAD ATL skateboard club members Sharissa Thomason (B.F.A. fashion), Jamal Evans (B.F.A. film and television), and Theron Brown II (B.A. illustration ), to chat design, skate culture, and the importance of maintaining your vision. Benny Gold shared thisLast week was a whirlwind. My son and I headed to Atlanta to visit my alma mater Savannah College of Art and Design They invited me back to speak on a panel about the intersection of fashion and sports. How cool is that. It was inspiring to see how much the school has grown and even more so the level of work coming out of the students. I sat in on a few portfolio reviews and loved seeing the energy curiosity and passion from the next generation. From there we went to Miami to see family and squeeze in some pool time before his spring break wrapped up. The kids are alright!

Benny Gold shared thisNew project for YPO Presidio Gold Chapter in San Francisco. The ask was pretty straightforward: create a mark that speaks to the Presidio while also representing leadership. A crest felt like the right place to start. It’s timeless and carries meaning about values, legacy, and leadership. From there, I explored the Presidio itself, drawing inspiration from architectural details already present in the environment. The goal was to build something that feels native to San Francisco, like it’s always been there. Not added, just revealed. Presidio Gold. Thank you Leslie Barrett for bringing me in on this!

Benny Gold shared thisBeen quiet, but building. Not streetwear this time, a vitamin brand. Reaper’s Remedies isn’t another sunshine, live forever wellness brand. It’s built on a simple truth, we’re all going to die, so the goal is to Die Slower. No miracle claims, no fluff, just honest messaging and a properly made product. I handled the full identity, here’s a look. Big thanks to Zach Canfield for bringing me into this. Live now at reapersremedies.com 💀 ⚡

Benny Gold shared thisThe tools will always change, but good ideas and great craft are what make the work matter. Huge thanks to Adobe and California College of the Arts for having me review student portfolios. Always inspiring to see what the next generation of creatives are building.

Benny Gold shared thisThe new kits just dropped for BayFC this season, and it’s great to see them bring back one of the sleeper marks I created for the club. The custom lettering draws from classic heat-pressed type originally used on military jackets and vintage athletic uniforms. Over time, that same utilitarian technique was adopted and reinterpreted by punks, street crews, and B-boys. From function to rebellion to the pitch. Grateful to see this mark find new life.

Benny Gold shared thisRoots Tonic records told me this graphic’s been doing really well and now they want to drop a black tee version. I saw it as a good moment to share a quick design tip: Stop inverting. Start designing for the background. Small adjustments. Big difference. Stay Gold.

Benny Gold liked thisBenny Gold liked thisNew work from Play SF for Stripe! In the decade-plus since its founding, Stripe has evolved into more than an indispensable payment tool. It’s become a sophisticated infrastructure that massive corporations run their entire financial operations on. With a landmark rebrand underway to reflect this identity shift, we were brought in to extend that vision into two critical systems: product UI and data visualization. We designed a UI system able to accommodate all that data at any scale without sacrificing clarity. We leaned into the details. Refining border radius, type scale, spacing, and color, we created a language capable of directing focus wherever the story required. In a space where enterprise typically means white space and studied restraint, Stripe chooses optimism. Their brand carries a genuine ethos of positivity, and color is the clearest expression of it. Building on Stripe’s signature Blurple, we expanded the palette into a suite of gradients designed to grab eyeballs and not let go. Data visualization presented a different challenge. How to make charts and graphs that are technically rigorous and visually compelling without letting the design get in the way. We found a solution in a system spanning four visualization types: part-to-whole, distributions, geographic, and diagrams. Built to accommodate the same macro—and micro—levels of storytelling as the product UI. Geography is everything for a company of Stripe’s scale. The dot map and 3D globe bring their global reach to life, from entire regions to single data points. The 3D globe renders the macro brand moment, while the dot map plots the micro performance across regions. See the full case study here: https://lnkd.in/gC33mmiG It was a privilege to work with the Stripe Brand Studio team. Benny Gold liked thisBenny Gold liked thisI have spent the last three years in conversations about chelated mineral bisglycinate ratios with people who have PhDs. I cannot make any of those conversations sound interesting at parties. About a month ago, I launched a vitamin company. The minerals are Albion chelates because ingredient forms matter. The folate is Quatrefolic. The B12 is methylcobalamin. The K2 is MK-7. Most of you do not care about any of that, which is fine. But here’s what is messing with me a little: I’ve spent most of my career thinking about how much the brand shapes what people feel. Then I made a product where the formula is genuinely serious. And now I don’t know how much to talk about it. Or if I should at all. I do not know what to do with that information yet. I’ll let you know when I figure it out. A month in: strangers keep sending me very nice emails about a multivitamin with a skull on it. People are subscribing. The reviews are good. If you’re reading this and you have an idea you’ve wanted to go after but haven’t, I’d 10/10 recommend making your life more complicated.

It’s time to get back to basics… When your head is down in a design business for more than two decades, it’s easy to become complacent and stick to what’s worked. Referrals, word of mouth, and previous clients coming back for more has always kept the work flowing and the bills paid. However... It’s time to make a shift from simply reacting to whatever offers are coming in to going out and finding only the work we want to do. This year, the plan is to… _ redefine our positioning to be laser focused on our ideal client _ craft a new portfolio including only the work we want to take on _ reframe what we say yes to and start saying no more often We do not progress without the intention to do so… The less we change the more things stay the same.

I’ve heard a lot of talk about the Affinity versus Adobe debate. When the going gets tough and you really need to get some design work done, people tend to gravitate back to Adobe. I’ve heard this rhetoric before and respectfully disagree. Unfortunately, in our industry, many designers are proficient in using software but lack the essential design skills. I’ve had the privilege of designing for the world’s largest companies for over 25 years and have been in the industry for nearly three decades. Throughout my career, I’ve observed the rise and fall of various software tools, but ultimately, they’re just tools. The true skill lies in the designers’ understanding of the fundamental principles of design. I’ve faced numerous deadlines, and the software I use has never seemed to matter. What truly matters is the designer behind the tools. In the past five years, I’ve used Affinity (and Figma ) for most of my projects and have never considered switching back to Adobe. However, if your workflow or company requires a specific plug-in or workflow that only Adobe offers, then it’s understandable to stay with Adobe. But for independent designers who have the freedom to design as they please, I believe Affinity has made significant strides in recent years. I hope this innovation pushes our industry forward and elevates the creative craft.

Creatives think in color. Explaining it? Exhausting. Creatives craft products based on insights, innovation, and challenging the status quo. It's a fluid process. Analyzers bring products to market based on data, margin, and sales tracking. It's a defined process. I've watched brilliant creatives burn out trying to explain the "what if" to analytical minds that need definitive answers. "But what about this possibility?" "Here's an idea to think about!" "What if we tried..." To an analytical mind, this sounds like indecision. To a creative mind, this IS the work. The exhaustion comes from constantly trying to open someone else's lens in a system that needs fast answers, not exploration. Understanding different thinking styles isn't a nice to have. I believe it's essential for cross-functional success. Creatives: Your curiosity isn't a flaw. It's your superpower. Analyzers: Those "what ifs" really aren't delays. They're innovation. Now over to you, friends - I’m curious how this dynamic has shown up in your workplace?
