Cale Quasha reacted on thisCale Quasha reacted on thisEvery sales org I've been part of has had that one BDR the AEs fight over. Not just because they book meetings nobody else can. Because they've already taught themselves to run discovery. These BDRs don't hand off a meeting and move on to the next sequence. They shadow calls. They ask to sit in on demos. They pay attention to which accounts actually convert and why. Over time they get genuinely proficient: sharper on ICP, better at reading personas, attuned to the timing signals that actually mean something. Their sourced pipeline closes at higher rates than anyone else's because they're qualifying with AE-level judgment, not just booking to a quota. The AEs notice. They start investing back. They task these BDRs with owning the early stages of a deal, let them run the first few calls with support, loop them in earlier and earlier. By the time a promotion comes up, the transition isn't a leap. It's a formality. They've been doing the job for months. I've seen this across every stage of my career. The BDRs who crush the AE transition aren't always the ones who generated the most meetings. They're the ones who refused to stay on the outside of the deal. And when those two things combine, they end up contributing an outsized share of their AE's closed-won bookings before they've ever carried their own number. At incident.io, we've seen this enough that we're now formalizing it. We've just launched a structured BDR to AE transition program with our first inductees, and we're hiring a Head of BDR in San Francisco to build and lead this function. Cale Quasha reacted on thisCale Quasha reacted on thisA year ago I left Cloudflare to spend time with family and travel the world, and somehow it's already flown by. I miss my old colleagues, but the time away has been exactly what I hoped for: biking, gardening, traveling, reading, music, long stretches with family and friends, and yes — 8 hours a night of sleep. All the things that got pushed aside when I was onscreen 15 hours a day with co-workers and customers. Many times this past year I did not open my laptop for a week, and it was wonderful for my health and happiness. (Don't worry, I still had my iPhone.) Now I'm rested, recharged, and curious about what's next. I'll be honest though — I'm going to be selective, because my BATNA is biking and gardening. 😉 So if you know of an exciting Support Leader role that might be a genuine fit, I'd love to hear about it. What I'm looking for: * Senior support leadership, EMEA or NAMER * SaaS B2B preferred * A company doing something positive for the world — education, climate, security, journalism, art, progressive politics, or adjacent DMs are open, even if you just want to say hello and catchup.
