Another big week at
Meridian International Center, and we are starting it with some exciting news.
We are thrilled to welcome two exceptional new members to the Meridian team.
Elizabeth M. H. Newbury, Ph.D. joins as Senior Director of our Center for Technology, Innovation and Space, bringing a remarkable background bridging the technical and policy worlds across AI, cybersecurity, and space — including serious games and esports research. We cannot wait to see what she builds here.
And
Diego Scharifker joins as Senior Director for our
Meridian Center for Corporate Diplomacy. From leading global business engagement at the
Tony Blair Institute for Global Change to corporate partnerships at the
Atlantic Council, Diego brings exactly the kind of experience and perspective this work demands. How very fortunate we are to have them both on board.
On the programming side, we opened the week at Meridian House with a closed-door U.S.-China Briefing featuring our own Board Chair-elect
Deborah Lehr, ahead of her upcoming travel to China with Secretary Hank Paulson. The conversation provided a candid and timely off-the-record dialogue that senior leaders need right now as U.S.-China dynamics continue to reshape global markets, supply chains, and the technology landscape.
Mid-week, we joined the Friends of Blair house Spring Party — always a highlight on the Washington calendar. Wonderful to connect with Deputy Chief of Mission for the Embassy of Egypt, Chahinda Emadeldin,
Mimi Burke, and
Natalie Jones Hallahan.
Next week, the 2nd Annual North Capital Meridian Diplomacy Forum on April 15 and
The Lauder Institute - University of Pennsylvania Corporate Diplomacy Training are both just around the corner. More to come!
