I was honored a to be asked to teach some of what I’ve learned over the past 16 years in strategic finance. Today, after a few months of curriculum development, it’s happening! I look forward to leaving my mark on the CFO program with UC Berkeley Exec Ed. This project might be coming to an end soon, but I'm looking forward to more like this.

Eric Dorf liked thisEric Dorf liked thisToday Infinitus Systems, Inc. turns 7. There is a theory that most of the cells in your body replace themselves every seven years. You are technically the same person, but also not. That feels true for me and for this company. I came into healthcare as an outsider. No industry background. Just a belief that healthcare could work better for everyone. Somewhere along the way, this stopped feeling like a sector and started feeling like a community I belong to. I am grateful today for a few things. The team. Past and present. People who chose hard problems and meaningful work. We are building for providers, payors, pharma, and patients. All of them. Watching this group grow has been the best part of the journey. Every step with Shyam. Our customers who took early bets on us, pushed us, corrected us, and built alongside us. A lot of what Infinitus is today came from those partnerships and that trust. Mentors like Brook Krishna John Bruce Ilya Scott Zeke Hosain who are generous with their time, their knowledge and their networks. Our new Infinitus office. Already full of energy and noise and ideas and memories. And finally a space big enough to get the whole Bay Area team together. The traditions that stuck. Infinipotluck. Halloween costumes. InfiniCamp. Flavio the Flamingo somehow becoming permanent. And the moments I never predicted. Speaking at the NYSE. Seeing our first Infinitus billboards in rural New Jersey. Seven years in, I feel more connected to healthcare and more committed to improving how it works. Thank you to everyone who has built with us and trusted us. Onward 🚀 🚀 🚀

Eric Dorf liked thisEric Dorf liked thisAs many of my colleagues and students have shared on this platform, the college where I have taught for the past 20 years (California College of the Arts - the last remaining nonprofit art and design college in Northern California) announced a few days ago they will cease operations at the close of the 2026/27 academic year, concurrent with the sale of the assets and campus to Vanderbilt University. While I understand the practicalities associated with the decision, I am very disheartened by the process, leadership, and impact it will have on our students. During my 40 year career I've integrated teaching as a part of my professional practice,. But I've taught with students as my priority. Not simply to teach the course, rather to engage the curiosity, empathy, and delight of creative discovery as part of life, not just work. This pure and precious alchemy that invites humanity to craft our tomorrow is celebrated in the hearts and minds of courageous students particularly when a community nurtures and endorses creative practices and embodies it in their institutional presence. Arts Colleges represent the stability, structure, and foundation in support of creative courage. Unfortunately our current students will now have to navigate their studies, presentations, and graduation knowing the structure they and their families trusted to be strong is now being dismantled before their very eyes. To all my students, alumni, and peers. Regardless of the walls, desks, or administration, I remain indebted to our collective enthusiasm for creative work, dedicated to our passion for the arts, and will always be ready to engage our enchantment with the magic of a creative tomorrow.

I remember when we were told that the future of work was meetings with avatar participants. A lot of what we hear today about 'the future of AI' is, likewise, wishful projection. As I often write in my newsletter, the future of AI doesn't exist yet; we are building it right now, and every policy and regulatory choice counts.

And with all the orchestration and collaboration it takes to design and execute a new livery, it might as well be! Huge congratulations to our friends at Alaska Airlines on unveiling their new livery. Teague is honored to be your design partner and collaborator. Design insights from Antonia Ventura, Sr Livery Designer: "The Aurora effect is achieved with vibrant paint colors and a complex pattern featuring tens of thousands of dots which required Teague to develop new techniques that hadn't been done before. Until now, no airline has had a fade effect extend from the vertical fin to the fuselage and across the window belt with such precision and vibrancy."

The future of design isn't prettier pixels—it's intelligence architecture. Suff Syed's latest piece challenges everything we know: designers must move from the surface to the substrate—from interfaces to the intelligence layer beneath. We've spent careers perfecting visual design, following leaders like Jony Ive. However, in the Era of Intelligence, we need to look toward different leaders—such as Demis Hassabis—who design systems that think, not just look beautiful. Here's the shift: The skills that got us here are no longer sufficient. As AI becomes the new operating system, designers who understand agentic AI, proactive systems, and personal intelligence will shape the next decade. Why now: 96% of designers are self-teaching AI skills. Startups are adopting AI at twice the rate of enterprises. The window to become an outlier is closing. This isn't about AI replacing designers—it's about designers who understand AI replacing those who don't. My challenge: Stop treating AI as just another tool. Start learning how these systems work intimately. Move from decorating surfaces to architecting intelligence. Most deep tech brands lead with complexity. Quantum breakthroughs. AI models. Patents and roadmaps. But luxury brands learned long ago that the story of craft matters more than the craft itself. Taste isn’t about elitism—it’s about restraint. It’s knowing what not to show, what not to say, and when to let silence do the work. As deep technologies like AI and quantum computing move from the lab to the world, the companies that lead will be the ones who communicate with elegance, not excess. Because when everything is powerful, taste becomes the real differentiator.
