Art Basel Launches “Zero 10” #DigitalArt Section. Art Basel is introducing a new section at the upcoming December 2025 Miami Beach fair which will place digital art from #generative works, #NFTs, #algorithmicart on the main floor, elevating it from a sideline category to a central one. This signals that major #artfairs are recognising digital/algorithmic art as core, not peripheral. It impacts #galleries, #collectors, and artists working in digital media who will now have higher visibility at mainstream venues. This may accelerate adoption of technologies like #generativeAI, #blockchainart, and #digital display systems in #highend gallery contexts. Traditional galleries may need to adapt to new formats (digital screens, blockchain provenance, interactive works). Artists working in AI/digital mediums may gain greater presence and market value. Collectors/curators will need to engage with tech‑specific issues: display hardware, software formats, digital ownership, stability of digital works. There are a few reasons why Art Basel Miami Beach was chosen as the debut venue for Zero 10. Miami Beach has a dynamic art scene and growing culture of innovation. The fair in Miami draws a large, international, and tech‑aware audience, including younger #collectors and those interested in digital art. Art Basel views digital art as shifting from the margins to being central in the #artmarket so launching at a major fair like Miami sends a strong signal of legitimacy. The Miami edition is one of Art Basel’s high‑visibility fairs in the Americas, offering strong exposure for the new platform before expansion elsewhere. According to the Art Basel and UBS Art Market Report, “film, video and digital art” made up just 3% of total #fineart expenditure by #highnetworth individuals in the first half of 2024 — down from 11% in 2023. Last year, the global art market sales dropped to an estimated USD 57.5 billion, down ~12% from 2023. The online‑only art‑sales segment for major #auctionhouses (Sotheby's, Christie's, etc.) was approximately USD 392.7 million in 2024, down about 10.8% from 2023. Brenda Adams and the team at Adams Design developed the identity and logos for Makor Capital and Makor Management. The companies required a unified brand system that could clearly articulate distinct roles within the same organization. Makor Capital leads investment strategy and capital deployment. Makor Management oversees operations, tenant experience, and long-term asset performance. The identity needed to express a shared foundation while making each function immediately legible. The challenge was systemic, not decorative. We designed a single, recognizable mark built to do more than identify. It needed to carry the brand across multiple entities, properties, and future growth without losing clarity or structure. At the center is a core geometric form that acts as both signature and framework. A mark with range. It reinforces recognition, but more importantly, it creates a visual language that can expand, adapt, and hold together as the portfolio evolves. Typography and color establish hierarchy across the system. Makor Capital, Makor Management, and individual properties each take on a distinct position, while remaining part of a cohesive whole. The result is an identity that works as a family. Consistent, flexible, and built to extend well beyond a single application. A little history for architect fans: Architectural photography is a genre of photography focused on capturing buildings and other structures. The goal is to create images that are both aesthetically pleasing and accurate representations of the subject. This type of photography can involve capturing both the exterior and interior of a building, and often requires a focus on details, lines, and shapes. Key techniques and tips include: Perspective Control: A key aspect is keeping vertical lines parallel and non-converging, often achieved with specialized tilt-shift lenses or in post-processing. Lighting: Lighting is a crucial element. Photographers often use natural light, but supplemental lighting is also common, especially for interiors. Angles and Composition: Experimenting with different perspectives (worm's-eye view, bird's-eye view) and compositions, such as leading lines and symmetry, can create a more dynamic image. Post-processing: Editing tools like Photoshop or Lightroom are used to correct perspective, enhance contrast, and refine colors. Some of the most notable architectural photographers include: Julius Shulman: Famous for his documentation of Mid-Century Modern architecture, particularly in Los Angeles. Iwan Baan: Known for his unique approach of capturing the human element and how people interact with architectural spaces. Hélène Binet: A Swiss-French photographer who often works with monochrome film and a large-format view camera, focusing on the interplay of light and shadow. Kevin Shuck: A Louisville photographer who loves capturing architecture at sunset and has great humor.
