Time for an update. After years in engineering management at Snapchat, I didn’t expect real estate to humble me faster than tech ever did.
At Snapchat, I built large-scale automation infrastructure. Then I bought my first investment property. Now I dealt with clogged toilets.
What I thought was an investment turned into a front-row seat to vacancy, delayed maintenance, resident issues, and more evictions than I was comfortable with. Phone calls, firefighting, and a never-ending list of nuances, where the “workflow” is often a text, an urgent email and a vendor saying, “I can swing by sometime in the next few days.”
To be honest I had no idea what I was getting into.
After a lot of starter pain - and eventually running my own property management company - I realized just how much of the business still runs on manual work, patchwork systems, and sheer willpower.
I tried different software solutions and spoke with property managers across the industry. The pattern was clear: everyone was working hard, but the tools weren’t working hard enough.
That’s when my cofounder,
Mehmood Z, who is also a landlord, and I knew it was time to build something new for property managers and finally "save my day".
