Jose Vidal posted thisIn only two days I received the exactly same message from two completely different supposedly IT project manager based on completely different US location. Weird, for not saying another more specific word. Please be carefull. Here is the text: I am a manager at web development team. My team is a software development firm/outsourcing company. We do provide dedicated software developers for web/mobile development roles primarily. We do have our offshore team as well over the world. We do have many clients coming every week, every day and we have very limited resources to handle interviews with the clients. We have very special, straightforward job hunting pipelines. We do usually get jobs from online platforms like Upwork, Guru, etc. The position we are going to offer you is a so-called "interview support" role. So once clients reach out to us and conduct interviews, we will have you join the interview and go through the interview processes. Your responsibility would be to take care of these interviews, across the line and get the job offers. This is 100% remote, schedules all depend on your availability. You can let us know your available time of the day and will book interviews with the clients based on your schedule. We are very flexible on that. We pay higher rate for this position. You will get a salary based on the time you spent on the meetings/interviews. If you work from home, this will be much easier for you to take spare time for meetings/interviews. That's a huge plus. If you are looking to be more productive and do not want to waste even your spare time but earn more, this will be a great advantage.

Jose Vidal posted thisHello and good day everyone! I have a question to all my peer Laravel developers, or any developer indeed: What CI/CD tools yourself or your team use?

Jose Vidal liked thisJose Vidal liked thisLaravel tip. Location-based filtering is a common requirement: - “find nearby” - “within X km” - “order by distance” Eloquent scope helps avoid repeating Haversine queries. You may put it into a Trait to use it in many models. Or maybe even a Package to use in many projects.

Legacy Ruby on Rails apps don’t fail because of bad technology. They fail because business decisions around them get delayed for too long. We’ve seen this pattern repeatedly: • The product still makes money • Customers are active • The app technically “works” • But every change takes longer than it should • Releases feel risky • And growth starts exposing cracks no one planned for At that point, the real question isn’t “Is Rails outdated?” It’s: “Is our application still helping the business or quietly slowing it down?” That’s what this article is about. Not rewrites for the sake of rewrites. Not chasing trends. Not fear-driven modernization. Instead, we break down: – How to tell whether a Rails app is truly legacy (from a business perspective) – When modernization creates real ROI and when it doesn’t – Why incremental modernization beats full rewrites in most cases – What a low-risk modernization process actually looks like – Lessons from real companies that scaled Rails responsibly Modernization is not a technical project. It’s a capital allocation decision. If you’re a founder, CTO, or product lead sitting on a Rails product that still matters to your business, this framework will help you think more clearly before pressure forces a rushed decision. We’ve published the full guide here 👇 (link in comments)

Stop writing Mockito scripts for your Spring Boot integration tests. 🛑 Our new guide covers how to test your service end-to-end: boot the real Spring context, stub only external APIs, and verify the full internal chain. Plus, see how BitDive replaces manual mock setups by capturing real runtime data and turning it into deterministic tests that work on the first run. No hallucinated assertions. Prepared by Jairo Cabrera, ECF In software development, quality should always outweigh quantity. Shipping fast means nothing if what we deliver creates bugs, technical debt, or future rework. Writing more code, closing more tickets, or meeting an aggressive deadline doesn’t automatically mean progress — sometimes it means postponing problems. Deadlines matter, of course. But they are not the end of the world. In reality, most clients are far more flexible than we assume. What they value most is: Transparency Clear communication A well-reasoned explanation of trade-offs When we take the time to explain why something needs more care — whether it’s stability, security, scalability, or maintainability — clients usually understand. They prefer a solid solution delivered slightly later over a rushed one that fails in production. Quality-first development leads to: More reliable systems Happier users Less burnout for teams Stronger long-term client relationships As engineers and leaders, our responsibility isn’t just to meet dates — it’s to build things that last. Sometimes that means pushing back, explaining risks, and advocating for doing things right. Good software is not about speed alone. It’s about trust, clarity, and craftsmanship. #SoftwareDevelopment #QualityOverQuantity #TechLeadership #EngineeringCulture #Deadlines #CleanCode

Jose de Cabo flipped the model: → Developers set their own rate. Remotely doesn't touch it. → A fixed, transparent fee goes on top — not a percentage. → Give your developer a raise or bonus? Remotely doesn't get a cut. The second-order effect? The best senior talent flocked to his model. Because the best engineers aren't just choosing based on rate — they're choosing based on respect. Transparent pricing isn't just ethical. It's a competitive moat for attracting top-tier talent. --- 🎧 Listen here: https://lnkd.in/enveyCF4 --- #HumanCloudPodcast #FutureOfWork #TransparentPricing #Staffing #TalentStrategy

🖥️ In part two of ''Optimizing your applications on OpenStack'', Alberto Molina Coballes picks up where part one left off: looking at what it really means to evolve your applications in a cloud environment. If you didn’t catch part one yet, you’ll find it here: https://lnkd.in/esjeHvgg This session focuses on the practical shift from monolithic to more modular, cloud-friendly designs. It covers the architectural trade-offs, the steps teams can take to gradually modernize, and why OpenStack gives you the flexibility to run anything from traditional setups to near cloud-native stacks, all without forcing a container-first mindset. If your infrastructure is ready but your applications and workflows still need to catch up, this talk is for you. #openstack #opensource #openstackapplications #vmwaremigration

🚀 Just Released: Código Postal Mexico API I'm excited to share my latest project - a RESTful API that provides comprehensive access to Mexican postal code data, including states, municipalities, and neighborhoods. Built with .NET 9 and following Clean Architecture principles, this service implements CQRS pattern with MediatR, features automated web scraping using Playwright, and includes full Swagger documentation for easy integration. The API is production-ready with Docker support, complete health monitoring, and enterprise-grade features like FluentValidation, custom exception handling middleware, and standardized snake_case JSON responses. It's containerized with multi-stage Docker builds and includes both development and production configurations. Check out the project on GitHub and feel free to contribute! 🔗https://lnkd.in/evEgAPT9 #dotnet #aspnetcore #api #cleanarchitecture #docker #cqrs #softwaredevelopment #backend #scraping
