With IBM’s acquisition of
Confluent now complete and team integrations well underway, my time leading
Confluent Microsoft GTM alliance came to an end last week. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished, including five Partner of the Year awards and one of the earliest ISVs to embrace the Microsoft/Azure Marketplace delivering results that surpassed those of much larger organizations.
We built a cosell engine that was integrated with our sales cycle, aligning Microsoft funding/incentives to support deal close while promoting consumption growth based on where customers were in their adoption cycle. We strove to be a leader in execution of these principles and the results were indisputable.
As this chapter closes, I’m excited to announce that I am moving forward as an independent consultant to help partners maximize the ROI of cosell, tap into the richness of Microsoft partner incentives, and become an engine for pipeline acceleration and growth, and customer success. I will be attending the Ultimate Partner Live Bellevue event next week and if you are there, I would love to meet with you. (more details coming soon!)
The key to our success was a tightly integrated high performing team. I want to thank everyone who came together over the last five years to make this happen, starting with
Michael Cooper who brought me on board for this journey and remains a good friend.
I also have to acknowledge my cloud partner friends,
Alice Dalby and
Sreejith Karuthody who remained loyal confidants through thick and thin. Two of the best and smartest people I know who will continue to deliver great results.
The execution of this alliance would not have happened without the best team in the business:
Marty O'Brien,
Shourya Bali,
Jacob Bogie,
Alexis Ruch,
Michael Worthington, and numerous others across Confluent leadership, product, engineering, finance, and professional services.
The support from Microsoft was nothing short of exceptional. It starts with a couple of Microsoft’s best PDMs, specifically
Carrie Ames and
Kim Brylle, both of whom represent the best of Microsoft. Across the partner landscape we had great support from many others including
Nina Harding,
Heather Deggans,
Lori Borg,
Tony Surma, Pat Primavera,
Carlos McKinley,
Anne George,
D'Arcy Lussier,
Mikhail Oza,
Deborah Stroud and so many others.
A heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to this outstanding chapter and apologies if I missed anyone's name!
