Jamie Karraker shared thisI was in NYC this week for the CNBC Disruptor 50 dinner, and it was awesome to see Alto get recognized in Times Square by Nasdaq. It's not the first time we've been on the big screen in Times Square, but it never gets old!

Jamie Karraker shared thisReally proud of the team for all the hard work that went into being named to the CNBC Disruptor 50 for the second year in a row, alongside transformational companies like OpenAI, Stripe, Databricks, and Anthropic. While these types of accolades are not why Mattieu and I started Alto, and not why Alicia joined us, it still feels good to be recognized for the impact we are making on the healthcare industry. Disrupting such a broken and antiquated industry is not easy, and we have a long way to go to accomplish our mission, but we've also come a long way since we bought that little pharmacy in San Francisco in 2015.Jamie Karraker shared thisWe’re honored to be named on the 2024 CNBC #Disruptor50 for the second year in a row. Alto is recognized for our work to transform the pharmacy industry by providing convenient, high-quality care and access to the medications patients need, and at the lowest possible cost. We are so grateful to the entire Alto team working each and every day to bring our mission to life. We are humbled to be included among other leading private companies committed to innovating and disrupting. https://lnkd.in/eKGK8Bwv

Jamie Karraker shared thisI’m excited to share that Alex Azar, the 24th Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, has joined the Alto Pharmacy Board of Advisors. Secretary Azar’s deep experience in public and private health, as well as his personal commitment to the health of all Americans, mirrors Alto’s mission and focus on patient outcomes. He was the architect of Operation Warp Speed, delivering COVID-19 vaccines and therapeutics in record time, and led a team of more than 85,000 employees. Before his role as Secretary of HHS, he was the longest serving president of Eli Lilly. I'm excited for our team to leverage Secretary Azar’s insights and expertise as we take Alto to the next level!Alto Welcomes Secretary Alex M. Jamie Karraker shared thisOur CEO Alicia Boler Davis sat down with Erin B. at Axios BFD yesterday, discussing a wide range of topics from how our technology platform adds value to healthcare stakeholders, fundraising in a tough market environment, how we think about acquisitions, and how Alto's strategy compares against incumbents. She reminded the audience: "We're just getting started!" Jamie Karraker shared thisI'm proud to share that Alto Pharmacy was named number 6 on the 2023 CNBC Disruptor 50 this morning. While this type of recognition is not why Mattieu and I started Alto, it’s always great for others to acknowledge the impact that we are making on the healthcare industry. Disrupting such a broken and antiquated industry is not easy, and I appreciate all the hard work and care that everybody on the team has put in every day to build a pharmacy that truly puts patients first. When Matt and I founded Alto - then ScriptDash - in 2015, I couldn’t have imagined all that this team would accomplish over the next eight years. From that one pharmacy in San Francisco, we’ve grown to locations in 13 cities, filled nearly six million prescriptions, and helped patients save over $100 million on their medications. We are still very early in our journey, and have a lot of work to do to accomplish our mission, but it’s important to occasionally step back and celebrate how far we’ve come.

A unifying thread throughout Alicia’s three decade-long career has been her dedication to people — the teams she’s led and the customers she’s served at GM, Amazon, and now Alto. What kind of mindset does it take to go from building data systems at Palantir, to leading engineering at Komodo Health, to becoming CEO of Particle Health – and suing one of healthcare’s largest incumbents? Jason Prestinario is a First Builder through and through. As CEO of Particle Health, his mission is to fix patient data interoperability, so your primary care doctor, specialist, and surgeon can all make decisions using the same complete health record. What a concept, right? And yet, it’s far from reality. That’s why Jason and the team at Particle are now suing Epic, one of the industry’s largest incumbents, to push for real change. We talked about how he approaches challenges of this scale, and what keeps him grounded in the process. We sat down with Jason to talk about this and much more. Hope you'll enjoy this spicy and insightful episode! Link in comments 🌶️ 👇

Too many startups assume: 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚’𝙨 𝙖 𝘾𝙋𝙏 𝙘𝙤𝙙𝙚 → 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚’𝙨 𝙖 𝙗𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨. Reality is rarely that linear. Viability tends to unfold in fits and starts, shaped by payer coverage, provider workflows, and the real operational burden behind reliable billing. ⚙️📉 Inspired by Matt Kamen's excellent post on CPT adoption curves & the recent ACCESS discussion, we’re sharing our internal framework: 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐀𝐬𝐤 𝐁𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐚 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐁𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐝𝐞 It goes deeper than payment policy — covering clinical and documentation requirements, enrollment and service mechanics, operational readiness, and the maturity of the CPT pathway. 🧠📋 If you’re evaluating a CPT-driven business model — or working with someone who is — comment “𝘾𝙋𝙏” below + DM me & I’ll share the document. 📄➡️ #startups #HealthcarePolicy #HealthTech #CMMI #ACCESSModel #Medicare #DigitalHealth

Thrilled to announce that Together Fund is investing in Sentra, alongside a16z speedrun! You track results in Jira. Decisions in Notion. Conversations in Slack. But the reasoning, the debates, trade-offs, and context behind why you chose A over B, disappears into what we call "Dark Matter." A decision made in March looks insane by July because no one remembers the constraints that made it smart. I lived this firsthand at Twitter scaling from 800 to 8,000 employees, and at Google while launching AI Overviews to billions at planet scale. The problem isn't process. Process is compensation for something deeper: organizational amnesia. An organization’s "Systems of Record" doesn’t solve this, they encode it. They store what happened, never why. That's why we are investing in Sentra. Sentra is the always-on collective memory that eliminates organizational amnesia by maintaining accurate context for all members and agents, functioning as an operational nervous system. It connects to every channel where work happens, meetings, Slack, email, code commits, docs, calendars, and treats them not as artifacts to search, but as living signals to synthesize. The fleeting and the permanent, unified into a memory that understands. The founding team is built for this: - Jae Gwan Park (CEO): Product-first founder, memory systems research at UofT and MIT - Ashwin Gopinath (CSO): Former MIT professor, created "Reflexion" (NeurIPS 2023), agents that learn from mistakes, 2x founder - Andrey Starenky (CTO): Early Vapi engineer, ex-IBM, built to process enterprise-scale data firehose Together is an operator-led fund. We invest in problems we've lived. This is one of them. Many congrats Jae, Ashwin and Andrey, we are so excited to partner with you! We at Andreessen Horowitz could not be more thrilled to lead Ease Health's $41M Series A to redefine healthcare’s operating system, unifying intake (CRM), clinical (EHR), and billing (RCM) into a single, AI-native core platform. We’ve seen this operating system playbook succeed in other industries with companies like Toast and ServiceTitan. Healthcare – long burdened by fragmented, legacy software – is ready for the same shift. Ease is starting in behavioral health, and already supports hundreds of providers across inpatient, outpatient (IOP, PHP, MAT), and residential. The team made this decision easy. CEO Zach Cohen has been a friend and colleague at a16z for years, and was someone I knew I’d be extremely lucky to back if ever given the opportunity. CTO Raymond W. is an incredible engineering leader with a track record of building and scaling elite technical teams. And President Steve Gold previously built and sold the behavioral health leader Refresh to Optum for one of the largest exits in the space. We’re proud to partner with Zach, Raymond, and Steve, and to invest alongside Abstract, BoxGroup, Sunflower Capital, and F3 Partners. Check it out: https://easehealth.com Eva Steinman Anish Acharya

One takeaway that resonates strongly with me is that AI is shifting chronic disease care from reactive visits to proactive, personalized, and continuous support, unlocking tremendous near-term, system-level opportunities for outcome improvement and cost savings.

Building UIs has never been easier with Tailwind. It turned styling into a productivity superpower and AI amplified that even further. But AI is also slowly breaking the economics behind open source (or at least Tailwind). It’s eating the discovery, traffic, and revenue that made open source sustainable The tools are winning, but the business models aren’t. If we don’t figure it out, we risk losing many tools that built the modern web.

🧠 Everyone wants to build HealthTech products that scale. But scaling in healthcare isn’t just about velocity - it’s about rigor. You’re not just shipping features. You’re earning trust across users, buyers, regulators, and clinicians. That means: Product ≠ MVP. Product = workflow, risk profile, data flow, and compliance posture. Product-market fit isn’t enough. You need product-market-trust. GTM without alignment? That’s a misfire waiting to happen. Would love your thoughts or war stories. What have you seen break first?
