Public speaking. How do you do it? Do you get nervous? I get asked this pretty often (and okay, I’ll admit it), I’ve got an unfair advantage. My major at Chico State was public speaking… so yeah, guilty as charged. But that’s not very helpful to those asking me the question, so what I’d say is this. The way to become more confident in public speaking is all about preparation. Put the work in, control what you can control, and don’t worry about the rest. For any presentation, you’ve got to know the material, but also try to figure out what people are going to ask, what they’re not going to ask. If you role-play scenarios beforehand, your brain will start to find connections you hadn’t previously considered. And of course, above all else, you’ve got to put yourself out there in the first place. Fake it till you make it! Got any tips you can share? Fire away…
