The Evolution of Computing and ZEDEDA’s Role at the Edge 1. Personal Computing (1980s–1990s) The computing revolution began with personal computers (PCs), placing computing power in the hands of individuals and businesses. Edge Computing (Emerging–Future) As real-time data processing and localized intelligence became critical—especially in industries like manufacturing, energy, and transportation—computing needed to move closer to the data source.
