I became passionate after watching my Dad use the computer after his first three strokes," I realized this: Web Accessibility pushes me to be a better developer. Proper markup. Smart architecture. Focus on details. I believe it's the foundation of front-end development and we should strive to cut fewer corners and create a better experience for everyone on the web. Image continues to produce some of the best creators and comics of all time. I'd personally like to thank Lorelei Bunjes for seeing what we were trying to do early on and getting it. She has so many great ideas about digital comics, and all comic fans are lucky she's in our industry. We'll be announcing more publishers soon, and of course, launching on iPad very, very soon. I still can't believe I get to open a comic book store!

Here's the Real (and Incredibly Simple) Way to Get More Women in Tech
The Muse
Leslie Doherty doesn’t want to talk about problems—she wants to talk about solutions.
She describes her role as a front-end architect for Deloitte Consulting’s Digital Studio in Seattle as a “problem-solving role,” in which clients come to her with problems—and her team brings them solutions. Those solutions? Everything from helping giant tech companies launch new products to guiding auto manufacturers through technological changes in the marketplace.
But her broader professional…Leslie Doherty doesn’t want to talk about problems—she wants to talk about solutions.
She describes her role as a front-end architect for Deloitte Consulting’s Digital Studio in Seattle as a “problem-solving role,” in which clients come to her with problems—and her team brings them solutions. Those solutions? Everything from helping giant tech companies launch new products to guiding auto manufacturers through technological changes in the marketplace.
But her broader professional mission is to change the conversation about women in technology from one about problems to one focused on solutions. As she puts it, “There’s a lot of talk about how we got here—but that’s only relevant if we can fix something.”
And she certainly walks her talk: Outside of her day job, she speaks at conferences championing women in technology, she tutors children in web development, and she’s writing a children’s book about programming with her 10-year-old daughter.
We sat down with Doherty to learn more about what she sees as the future of encouraging more diversity in tech—and what anyone who’s ever considered a career in technology can learn from her path.

Designing for Neurodiversity Looking for Real-World Experience We’re exploring UI/UX design standards for the neurodivergent and autistic community going beyond typical accessibility checklists. While WCAG 2.2, EN 301 549, and PAS 6463 offer great foundations, there’s still no single unified digital standard for neuroinclusivity. Most products focus on visual or mobility accessibility, but cognitive and sensory accessibility is often left behind. I’m particularly interested in learning from people or teams who have: Built apps or web platforms following neuroinclusive design principles Adopted “user autonomy” or “customizable UX” frameworks (reduced motion, focus modes, calm interfaces, etc.) Integrated testing with neurodivergent users or designed features specifically for autistic audiences Used any recognised guidelines or research frameworks beyond WCAG for cognitive/sensory inclusion If you’ve designed, researched, or implemented in this area I’d love to connect or hear your insights. What worked best? What gaps do you still see in the standards? A quick thought on makers and takers that I've been sitting on for awhile, especially given that #DrupalConVienna is this week. As it's framed, there are two sides. Yet, we are one #Drupal community. To me, that is the story of open source, especially after being in it for 17+ years. ↳ I have seen the #Drupal community grow from a handful of dreamers to a global force. ↳ I have watched as some build, code, and give their time for free. ↳ I have seen others use, benefit, and sometimes never give back. But here’s something to consider: ↳ Both makers and takers are needed. ↳ Makers of #Drupal push the limits, create new tools, and keep the engine running. #Drupalcon Vienna is a testament to that. ↳ Takers spread the word, use the tools, and show the world what’s possible. Is this is a battle? Perhaps it's a strive for balance. Here’s what I’ve learned after years in open source: 1. Makers are the heartbeat: ↪ We write code, fix bugs, and answer late-night calls for help. 2. Takers are the proof: ↪ They use what’s built, find the gaps, and show what works in the real world. 3. Both sides teach us: ↪ Makers learn what people need. Takers learn how things are made. 4. Growth comes from both: ↪ When makers and takers talk, share, and listen, the whole #Drupal community gets stronger. 5. Investment is key: ↪ Time, money, and care must flow both ways. We must invest in local #Drupal communities, their ecosystems, and in each other. 6. The microcosm matters: ↪ Every open source project is a small world. What works here can work anywhere. 7. The future is shared: ↪ The best ideas come from many hands, not just a few. I have seen projects fail when one side is missing. I have seen magic happen when both sides show up. Open source is not just about code. It’s about people. It’s about building together, using together, and growing together. If we want #Drupal — and any open source project — to thrive, we must keep investing. To me, this looks like a more robust connection with the local #Drupal communities in the U.S., like Pacific Northwest Drupal Summit, MidCamp, BADCamp, Florida DrupalCamp, Drupal Camp Chattanooga, Drupal 4 Gov, etc. Keep investing in the technology. And in each other. That’s how we get through the storm. That’s how we all win.
