John Lepore shared thisThis Wednesday in New York, I spent the day at the inaugural SolutionExec Conference, "Off the Record." What a great day — reconnecting with friends, having thought-provoking conversations, and walking out with a clearer view of where our profession is headed than I've had in some time. A sincere thank you to James Kaikis, Jeff Margolese, David Maloof, and the entire SolutionExec team for curating a day that earned every minute of attention. Fantastic venue, sharp content, and a room full of operators who came ready to work. Three insights I'm carrying home: 𝟭. 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁. The AE-to-SC ratio conversation matters less than the value conversation. Design for impact, and the structure follows. 𝟮. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝗳 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆. Buyers demand proof. Teams that can deliver it at scale will win the decade. 𝟯. 𝗔𝗜 𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁. The most compelling stories weren't about doing the same work faster. They were about collapsing phases entirely. For those of us leading Solutions organizations, the work ahead isn't incremental. It's structural. Thank you again to James, Jeff, and the SolutionExec community. Already looking forward to the next one.

John Lepore reacted on thisJohn Lepore reacted on thisAfter nearly 7 years, I’ve turned a beautiful page at Ushur. I’m leaving the company, but never the people. 💙 A heartfelt thank you to Henry Peter, Simha Sadasiva and Sreevathsa Duglapura for believing in me, trusting me, and championing me through every season. From celebrating milestones to making me feel genuinely valued, your encouragement and generosity meant more than words can capture. As Office Manager, I had the privilege of partnering closely with the Executive Leadership Team - managing operations, international travel and visa processes, leadership visits, offsites, events, and corporate experiences across teams, always with a deep focus on people, experience, and excellence. That same warmth extended across the incredible leadership team, managers, Engineering, CS, and Product teams - both those still at Ushur and those who’ve moved on. Every interaction I had was not just productive, but genuinely joyful. Ushur is truly more than a company - it’s the people, the culture, and the care everyone brings to it. A very special mention to the People team - HR, TA, IT, Accounts, Legal, and Facilities, both in India and the US. You were my constant backbone and my go-to every single day. Always responsive, supportive, and warm - you made everything easier. Once Ushur family, always Ushur family. 🧡 I’m taking a planned personal sabbatical to slow down, travel a bit, and enjoy the pause - the rest will follow in its own time. Onwards and upwards! 😊

John Lepore reacted on thisWell you beat me to it Sarah Stevens - we are absolutly thrilled to have you back on the team. Thank you for sharing your insights, wisdom, and experience with us here at Reverb. We look forward to doing great things together.John Lepore reacted on thisSome personal news to share: I’m excited to be partnering with Reverb helping expand their network and connecting them with companies that need experienced, practical HR leadership. Thanks to Mikaela Kiner, Sarah Wilkins and team for the warm welcome! This one feels especially meaningful. Reverb is actually how I first connected with Ushur years ago, so it’s very much a full-circle moment. Grateful to Simha and the Ushur leadership team for their support in making space for this alongside my work as Head of HR at Ushur. Fractional HR is having a moment and for good reason. Companies are being asked to do more with less, while people challenges like performance, accountability, engagement, and change management are only getting harder. Most organizations don’t need a full HR team, but they do need experienced leadership. That’s exactly where Reverb shines. Through Reverb, I’ll be advising companies on HR strategy and operations alongside a team that can scale with clients as they grow. One dimension I’m especially excited to bring to this work: Ushur’s AI-first approach has given me hands-on experience designing and deploying AI agents to augment our People Operations function. AI is reshaping HR faster than most playbooks can keep up with, and I’d love to help other leaders think through where it actually moves the needle. If you’re a CEO, COO, or CFO (or know one) whether you’re building a foundation, navigating change, or leveling up your people strategy I’d love to connect. Always happy to talk about what’s working in HR, and what isn’t. #fractionalHR #AIforHR

John Lepore liked thisJohn Lepore liked thisAs a first-generation college student, I dreamed of creating opportunities for students; really, creating a path that was easier than my own. One of those dreams was working for a few decades, then becoming a part-time professor and running a capstone project with my students. I’m living a version of that dream today. Earlier this year, I partnered with Champaign Urbana Business and Engineering (CUBE) Consulting to build a member intelligence platform for SolutionExec. As the semester comes to a close, I invited the students to Chicago for lunch (& Jeni’s ice cream). During lunch, each student shared their favorite part of the project and their biggest challenge. The most rewarding part for me is hearing how each of them pushed themselves. Most of this group are Freshman Business majors, and they went hands-on with technical concepts they didn’t know existed before the project. Thank you to the entire CUBE project team for your hard work and dedication. It was such a blast to work with you, and I’m looking forward to continuing the efforts! I also want to say that the next generation of college graduates will be light-years ahead of where most of us were when we graduated. Were you building AI workflows and member intelligence as business majors when you were 18?

We hear narratives about the EU behind America in terms of innovation and change. While I used to believe and feel that, this time feels different. I had several conversations with leaders navigating changes: - Forward Deployed Engineering - Post Signature Solutions Support - Solutions Engineers becoming Account Executives To hear that the Parisian market is thinking about them now shows that these global changes are coming for the entire profession; this is not isolated to a single region, and one region is not behind another. SolutionExec is committed to servicing the profession globally. Thank you to Guideflow for your partnership in bringing this mission to life. Paris, you’ve been nothing short of spectacular. Thank you for your kindness and hospitality.

At HealthEdge®, we believe true transformation happens when people across the organization don’t just understand what AI can do, but apply it to elevate their day-to-day work. To drive this, we’ve built a learning ecosystem that meets our teams where they are. The Results of Our Strategy: -Centralization: Our "AI Hub" serves as a single source of truth for curated content and learning paths, eliminating the friction of scattered resources. -Engagement: 30% of our global workforce has attended at least one AI-specific "Power Hour." Our January session on "AI Innovation in Action" saw a peak of 380 participants. -Skill Development: Our LinkedIn Learning consumption includes 122 employees who have started structured AI learning paths. -The Impact: Our latest quarterly pulse survey shows measurable progress across the board. The number of employees who feel empowered to recommend AI solutions grew from 66% to 76%, and overall AI familiarity rose to 81%. Successful AI adoption requires more than technology implementation. It demands a multi-channel approach that respects how different roles learn—unifying the organization around smarter decisions and better outcomes. What he's describing is good capture and solutioning practice. This is how you build relationships and confidence pre-RFP. If you're familiar enough with the problem to describe it to the customer? Don't. Instead, leverage that understanding and be prepared to: 1. Ask clarifying questions AND 2. Discuss a potential solution Prepare before you step foot into a meeting with government stakeholders, and you will start to see real progress.

A huge thank you to Michael Altman , VP of E2E Self Care SCM at Kenvue, for visiting our Rutgers Business School EMBA cohort as a guest speaker. Mike provided us with deep insights into Integrated Business Planning (IBP). The key focus of our session yesterday was to understand the core pillars of IBP: ✅ Portfolio Management Review: Tracks innovation performance and aligns resources with strategy. Takeaway: Stage Gate Management is essential for project progression and clear go/no-go decisions. ✅ Demand Planning: Reaches consensus on an unconstrained, assumption-based view of sales. Takeaway: Prioritize the top 20% of products that generate 80% of sales and gross profit. ✅ Supply Planning: Synchronizes manufacturing and procurement to support demand based on demonstrated capacity. Takeaway: Monitor key asset capacity; underutilization is as detrimental to costs as overutilization. ✅ Integrated Reconciliation (IRR): Consolidates the financial outlook and vets gap-closing proposals. ✅ Management Business Review (MBR): Final leadership alignment on a 24-month outlook to decide on trade-offs and investments. The highlight was a group exercise Mike facilitated where we represented different functional areas: Commercial Sales & Marketing, Distribution & Logistics, and Manufacturing & Procurement. We simulated a real-world crisis—a massive 4x demand spike for Listerine during a global pandemic. The exercise helped demonstrate how these departments must pivot in unison to manage raw material shortages, optimize capacity, and ensure product reaches customers when they need it most. ✨ Key takeaways from the Session • Variable Horizons: Planning windows (typically 4–24 months) vary based on industry, product, and organizational size. • Data-Driven: IBP leverages industry-standard metrics to eliminate bias and ensure objective decision-making. • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Success depends on continuous partnership between Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Finance. • Execution vs. Planning: Organizations must bridge short-term execution (S&OE) with the long-term IBP window to navigate disruptions. • Modern Tech & Data Quality: With AI integration, data harmonization and quality are now critical for reliable planning Thank you, Mike, for sharing your expertise and helping the Rutgers EMBA Class of 2027 bridge the gap between classroom theory and world-class strategic leadership! 🎓 Special thanks to Professor Joe Agresta for inviting Mike and continuously helping our cohort connect with distinguished industry leaders. This bridge between academic theory and real-world leadership is invaluable to our growth. #RutgersEMBA #SupplyChain #IntegratedBusinessPlanning #Leadership #EMBAClassOf2027

I completely agree — shifting from static systems of record to event-driven, intelligent, and proactive platforms is critical for the life sciences industry. But this evolution isn’t about AI. It’s about how these platforms were originally engineered. Most were built as systems of record, not as event-driven systems designed to accommodate real-time intelligence, automation, and the power of AI — often requiring massive development teams to adapt. A major challenge across the industry remains adaptability. True innovation won’t come from adding more code, but from No-Code Platforms that make it easy to configure and tailor solutions across studies, sites, sponsors, and brands — while quickly responding to inevitable protocol amendments, regulatory updates, or program changes without needing an army of developers to build bespoke solutions each time. Platforms that were engineered this way from the start can quickly “plug AI Agents inside” — amplifying their capabilities to become intelligent, proactive, and self-optimizing without an army of developers. I believe, this is the real shift that's needed: from record-keeping systems to adaptive, event-oriented intelligence built for the future of life sciences, now with the power of AI inside.
