The Top 10 Obstacles to Project Success; The Original Card Game for Project Managers
MuTo Performance Corp.
See publicationOne day, we discussed the Top 10 Obstacles to Project Success with a
youthful group of pre-teen project manager hopefuls. They really took to
the concept that the most common obstacles to project success can be
mitigated by combinations of best practices (processes, systems and people
skills.) In fact, they got the concept quicker than many adults.
But then, they said "This would be a great game!"

youthful group of pre-teen project manager hopefuls. They really took to
the concept that the most common obstacles to project success can be
mitigated by combinations of best practices (processes, systems and people
skills.) In fact, they got the concept quicker than many adults.
But then, they said "This would be a great game!"
We laughed, but couldn't stop thinking about the idea. Just imagine, a game
for project professionals.
So we designed the game based on the data we analyzed from our annual Top 10 Obstacle Surveys and our own Muto Method for successful project management.
Then we showed the game to project professionals for fun.
Some thought the cards predicted their own project's pending demise, others
said it was uncanny how the cards described their project environment to a
tee. Then something magical happened. Some of the players found the cards
educational. They found themselves discussing and debating the best
practices and how they might use them for real. That's what sold us! This
would be a GREAT WAY to teach Project Professionals about the Top 10
Obstacles, how they impact a project and how to mitigate them!
