Pete Wilkins shared thisA tip of the hat to Michael Sachaj, HPA Investment Partner, for strengthening connections that fuel the innovations that supply the world with what they need or want. Leaders from startup founders to corporate & industrial executives to VC investors came together to build relationships that matter, fueling this ecosystem that powers advanced manufacturing, physical AI, and so much more.Pete Wilkins shared thisHPA had a fantastic time hosting the PowerUp at MODEX Breakfast this week in Atlanta! With 100+ supply chain and manufacturing founders and investors in attendance, it was incredible to see the energy in the room with new connections forming and longtime Zoom collaborators finally shaking hands for the first time. We were excited to bring the conversation around advancing the supply chain landscape to Atlanta's thriving tech ecosystem and connect it with the broader national community of founders and investors pushing the industry forward. Wonderful to partner with friends that have been supporting the industrial ecosystem for years, including Dynamo Ventures (Santosh Sankar), Tech Square Ventures & Engage (Akshita Iyer), and Silicon Valley Bank (Jordan Parcell). #MODEX #SupplyChain #Atlanta

Pete Wilkins shared thisCongrats to Maxwell Wilkins (my son) whose starting his next chapter at The Little Nell this summer after graduating from the University of Denver's Fritz Knoebel School of Hospitality Management! Not only did DU prepare him to succeed, but it also offered him incredible all-around experience, recenlty winning the second NCAA Men's Hockey National Championship (Total 11 Nattys) during his tenure past Saturday. Although he wasn't on the ice, there are a lot of reasons to celebrate what he has accomplished at DU and what he is poised to accomplish in the future! Cheers!Pete Wilkins shared thisI’m excited to share that I’ve accepted a position with The Little Nell as a Manager in Training for Food & Beverage. As Aspen’s only Forbes Five-Star and AAA Five-Diamond hotel, The Little Nell sets the standard for excellence in hospitality, and I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be part of that team. Thank you to Diana Ixchel Theile and Danielle May for your guidance throughout the process, and to Gina Netisingha and Ikaika Hewitt, CS for the opportunity. I’m also very grateful to Stephanie Van Cleve-DeHerrera, IOM and Lauren Sepulveda for their support and guidance throughout my time at the University of Denver. Looking forward to getting started this June.

Pete Wilkins shared thisCongrats to Linxin Wen, Suyu Zhang, and the entire Chowbus team! On behalf of HPA, we are excited about your progress and future expansion. It will help unlock opportunities for culturally rooted restaurant owners to grow their businesses and better serve their communities.Pete Wilkins shared thisWe are excited to share that Chowbus, an HPA portfolio company, has announced an $81M financing round led by Prysm Capital and Left Lane Capital, with participation from Dutchess Capital, Fika Ventures, and Avidbank. Independent restaurant operators, particularly those running culturally rooted restaurants, have long lacked technology built for their specific needs. Chowbus has changed that with a full-stack platform purpose-built for this underserved segment, offering POS, payments, marketing, and operational software that helps operators run more efficiently and grow their businesses. Since HPA's investment in Chowbus's Series Seed in 2019, we've watched the company grow into a true category leader — now supporting thousands of restaurants across North America, with more than $120M in ARR and approximately $4B in annualized transaction volume. This new capital will fuel AI-driven product development and expand Chowbus's restaurant operating system across marketing automation, operational analytics, accounting workflows, and supply chain tools. Congratulations to Linxin Wen and the entire Chowbus team on this incredible milestone! We're proud to have been part of the journey and look forward to what's ahead! Special thanks to HPA Deal Lead Joe Beatty and HPA Partner Stephen Ross, whose continued support and partnership have been instrumental to Chowbus's growth. Pete Wilkins shared thisSuper excited about the CYDELPHI investment! Great team, big problem, great solution. So glad we could partner with this dynamic team to help build a world class company.Pete Wilkins shared thisWe are excited to announce our participation in CYDELPHI's $3M seed round alongside Glasswing Ventures, Blu Ventures, and Merlin Ventures. As AI-powered attacks accelerate and ransomware dwell times shrink, legacy DFIR processes, often manual and months-long, can’t keep up. Cydelphi’s patent-pending, agentic AI platform automates forensic playbooks and recovery workflows, compressing breach recovery timelines from months to days. We were drawn to Cydelphi’s massive market opportunity, true AI-native architecture, and experienced cybersecurity leadership team. With this funding, the company will accelerate product development, deepen integrations with security partners, and expand across high-stakes industries. Congratulations to the Cydelphi team, we’re proud to support the future of AI-native cyber resilience! Every day can be a holiday, a workday, and a family day all in one - that’s PEAK living, and I felt it on our recent trip to Lisbon, Barcelona, and Sevilla. Just last week I felt like we were back in a magical 19th-century Andalusia as my wife Stacy, grandma Janet, and I visited our son Gavin, who is studying at the Universidad de Sevilla for the semester and immersing himself in the local language and vibrant culture. We were right in the middle of La Feria de Abril with horse-drawn carriages, flamenco everywhere, and the most ornate festival gates you've ever seen. We ended the night walking the old city at golden hour with the Giralda tower rising behind us. In Sevilla, we also experienced an epic Copa del Rey Final at a packed Estadio de La Cartuja filled with 60,000 fans to create a pulsating atmosphere. The fans had taken over the streets and been celebrating all day before kickoff. The energy peaked almost immediately when Real Sociedad scored just 14 seconds into the match - the fastest goal in final history! After 90 minutes, Atlético Madrid and Real Sociedad wound up tied, 2-2, after Atleti mounted a furious 2nd half rally. The underdog Real Sociedad finally claimed the win on the 9th penalty kick sending the blue and white clad Sociedad fans into absolute delirium! On the other side the Atletico Madrid fans wept having been so close to claiming the cup from King Felipe VI. We started the trip on the western coast of the Iberian peninsula running 10 miles through Lisbon city streets and hills one day and biking a 100km coastal route out beyond Cascais to Portugal’s stunning Atlantic coastline the next. Running and cycling are my favorite ways to explore a new destination. I get to practice my favorite hobby of chronicling my outdoor adventures on Strava. I’m grateful to experience these adventures with my family and combine it with an energizing visit to our new G2 Digital Markets team in Barcelona to discuss how we accelerate global growth and AI-fueled innovation - more on that in my last post. By integrating my life passions of family, entrepreneurship and outdoor adventures, I feel like every day can be a holiday, workday, and family day all in one. Integration over balance. That's the PEAK. What is one thing you do to successfully integrate your life? #PEAK #Integration #G2

Pete Wilkins liked thisPete Wilkins liked thisOne of the more interesting things I’ve learned building and scaling our AI system: A lot of what people call “AI performance” is really workflow and systems design. The model matters, obviously. But as the system grows, the bigger gains come from the control plane around it. A few things stood out for me: 1. The real bottleneck often isn’t the model. It’s the workflow. Some of the biggest failures weren’t bad outputs. They were stale state, broken handoffs, partial execution, and silent workflow drift. 2. Matching reasoning depth to the task matters more than I expected. The “thinking” setting is not a cosmetic toggle. Low reasoning is often better for fast, transactional replies. Higher reasoning is better for ambiguous research, complex judgment, and coding tasks. Use the wrong setting and you either waste time or degrade quality. 3. The highest-leverage fixes happen in shared infrastructure. The durable gains came from fixing common paths once — email handling, retrieval, validation, audit logic, state tracking — instead of chasing symptoms case by case. My takeaway: As AI systems grow, they start to look a lot more like operational systems than chat interfaces. Less about which model is smartest. More about state, routing, defaults, observability, and making sure nothing quietly breaks between steps.

Pete Wilkins liked thisPete Wilkins liked this“Relaxed and cute” isn’t how people usually describe a big milestone. But that exact choice created the kind of joy you can’t manufacture. My 50th birthday party was honestly just really fun. We kept it super relaxed. It was a cute venue, nothing fancy, and we had a photo booth, which ended up being such a hit. People were just hanging out, taking pictures, talking. It felt really easy. My mom questioned the location at first. She was kind of like, I don’t know about this… and then by the end of the night, even my parents were having so much fun! 😂 It wasn’t a big production or anything like that. It just felt relaxed and cute. And I think that’s why it worked. Everyone just settled in. There wasn’t this pressure to make everything perfect; you could just be there and enjoy it. And honestly, that’s what made it feel so special. I remember thinking that this is exactly what I wanted. Just being around people I care about and actually getting to enjoy the night.

The chat will be moderated by Scott Dorsey, Managing Partner at High Alpha. The Summit brings together founders, funders, alumni, faculty, and students from across the IU community and is expected to sell out. Attendees can register now on the IU Ventures website. Krane is a rare figure in the technology world — someone who joined Google as employee number 84, helped build it into a global institution, and now shapes the next generation of innovation as a venture capitalist. The gift was decades in the making. Twenty-five years ago, Rick Landuyt was asked to write his obituary at a corporate retreat, and giving back to education topped his list. "My goal was to give back to education," Rick says. "We all thought differently, but I learned something from that collection of students — if we could find a way to capture that collaboration for all the students across the campus, a lot more innovation would jump out." Pete Wilkins liked thisPete Wilkins liked thisWe’re getting where AI wins in healthcare wrong. We’ve invested so much energy into back-office solutions, when in reality the biggest opportunity is in how AI shows up in care delivery. Right now the healthcare community is talking about the validity of certain companies that I won't name here....and people are asking about the true durability of virtual care. Eric Shan and I wrote about why we're bullish about tech-enabled services in the latest Second Opinion Media (led by the formidable Christina Farr!). TL/DR - The next generation of category-defining companies will integrate AI directly into care delivery. That’s where the real value creation happens. Working with NRF to pursue our patent strategy is an important step in recognizing that proprietary AI systems and workflows are becoming a new form of intellectual property for modern firms. Great to partner with George, John McBride, and the team at Norton Rose Fulbright as we work at the frontier of how AI can transform investment decision-making in venture capital. At Decasonic, we believe the next generation of companies will reinvent with AI workflows and systems how organizations operate, how leaders make decisions, and how teams collaborate with intelligent systems. In going through this streamlined process, it's clear to me that many more startups should clarify their IP strategy. Our internally developed AI platform, RLEN, reflects that philosophy. We are building AI not to automate tasks and flourish outcomes, in collaborative ways for human and AI teammates. This enables our investors to test ideas, explore alternative perspectives, and reach deeper insights faster when navigating uncertainty. More broadly, we are seeing trailblazing work across industries and cities as leaders experiment with how AI can reshape communities, companies, and countries. Leadership with AI forever transforms. We are still in the early innings. Appreciate the partnership and collaboration from the Norton Rose Fulbright team as we continue inventing and innovating. Special shoutout to my colleague Abdul Al Ali who's listed as a co-inventor.

In a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape, experience-centered AI is poised to drive the next wave of innovation. Unlike incremental point solutions that address isolated inefficiencies, this approach integrates AI seamlessly across all touchpoints - creating a cohesive, patient-centric system. By focusing on outcomes, not just outputs, experience-centered AI empowers both patients and healthcare providers, improving communication, trust, and health outcomes. With tools designed to reduce administrative burdens and personalize care, this paradigm shift promises more affordable, efficient, and empathetic healthcare. The key to success will be fostering trust through responsible, transparent AI development that protects privacy and mitigates bias. #AIinHealthcare #PatientExperience #Healthcare #DigitalHealth #AI https://lnkd.in/gey7mU2i

AI and Health Tech in Focus AI Tool Used to Help Predict Postpartum Depression Researchers at Harvard University’s Massachusetts General Hospital have developed an AI tool that helps predict the risk of postpartum depression (PPD) before discharge from the hospital. Approximately 15% of women suffer from PPD which is responsible for suicide and self-harm and about 10% of all pregnancy related deaths. The researchers trained the algorithm based on about 29,000 mothers using electronic health records data including medical history, medication data, age, race, ethnicity, education, marital status, insurance type, number of births, mode of delivery, number of prenatal visits, length of delivery stay as well as an existing but more modest predictability score for PPD called EPDS. Incorporating this data resulted in an ability to predict more than three times the baseline risk of PPD. Using this model can help care teams identify those at risk for PPD and provide resources and support services such as referral to social workers, psychotherapy, psychiatry or medical therapy before they have an impact on the mother, child and their families.
