The team's experience building this one has been a heck of a journey. This managed server gives AI coding agents secure, auditable access to any AWS services through the Model Context Protocol. It’s a core part of the Agent Toolkit for AWS, and a real step up for anyone building agents on AWS. Working with data in S3 becomes much simpler for agents. Before, asking an agent to summarize a bucket meant pulling each object into the conversation, one tool call at a time, until you ran out of context. Now the agent writes a short script that lists, reads, and aggregates across a mass number of objects in place — data never leaves AWS, the sandbox inherits your IAM scope (read-only if you want), and CloudTrail logs every call. #aws #agenticAI #mcp #s3

Patrick Korianski reacted on thisPatrick Korianski reacted on this“MCP is dead” is an entertaining but fundamentally flawed take. Every few months the developer ecosystem picks a technology to declare dead. Often, the real problem is that people are evaluating it against the wrong benchmark. MCP vs. CLI is not a competition. They operate at entirely different layers, and comparing them is like asking whether a cockpit is better than an engine. One flies the plane. The other decides where to go and how to get there safely. CLI is execution. It runs commands, provisions resources, and deploys code. It does exactly what you tell it to do, nothing more. MCP is context and expertise. It tells the agent which commands to run, in what order, with what configuration, and why. When a developer asks an agent to deploy a service, the agent needs to know more than the deployment command. It needs to know what IAM policy to apply, whether the deployment pattern should be blue-green or canary, and what observability to wire up before going to production. That's not something a CLI provides. That's the expertise layer that sits above it. Without that layer, an agent is running commands blindly. It can execute, but it can't make informed decisions. That's the difference between automation and judgment. The strongest critique of MCP isn't that the protocol is wrong. It's that most implementations are naive and lead to context bloat, high token usage, unnecessary complexity for simple use cases. These are real problems, but they're implementation problems, not protocol problems. Naive MCP is dead, and it should be. What replaces it isn't CLI. It's smarter, more opinionated MCP that encodes real expertise instead of dumping raw API surfaces into the context window. The real question is: does your product have an opinion about how developers should use it? Most developer products expose APIs, publish docs, and let developers figure it out. That works when humans are making decisions but falls apart with agents because agents act on the structured context available to them. If your product doesn't provide that context, the agent will default to whatever tool does. CLI gives an agent access to your product. MCP gives an agent the expertise to use your product well. The products that encode real opinions into their agent interfaces will be the ones agents recommend. I wrote about this principle last week (link in comments). MCP isn't dead. This is the one I'm most excited about. Before today, teams had to build what we call the agent harness from scratch: the compute, tooling, memory, identity, and security that an agent needs to actually run. That meant days of setup before running a first real test. Now devs can declare their agent and run it in three API calls. Customers define their model, tools, and instructions, and AgentCore handles the rest. When organizations need custom orchestration or multi-agent coordination, devs can switch from config to code on the same platform without rearchitecting. Customers like VTEX, NTT Data, Parrot Analytics, and Reactiv are excited to take their agent ideas to production faster. 🟠 AgentCore CLI. Developers told us they wanted to stay in one workflow across the full agent lifecycle. The new CLI lets you prototype, deploy, and operate from the same terminal. Patrick Korianski liked thisPatrick Korianski liked thisToday, I'm excited to share that Archil has raised $11M in new, Series A capital led by Standard Capital with participation from YCombinator, Felicis, Peak XV partners, Wayfinder Ventures. We've also had the opportunity to add wonderful angel investors such as Anurag Goel (Render), Richard Artoul (Warpstream), and several individuals at our partners Antithesis and Clay. This round, less than a year after our seed funding, brings Archil's total capital raised to $18M. This announcement reflects the rapidly growing need for new infrastructure in the industry. Applications that are built for the AI era -- inference, model training, and agents -- are inherently stateful in a way that existing primitives do not solve for. At Archil, we believe that the file system -- as the universal interface to data for over 50 years -- represents the best path forward for making infrastructure simple for the next decade. In fact, it's because of this deep history that file systems have become the best performing way for agents to interact with data. Their representation in the training data means that most models inherently know how to work with files and folders. Until now, file systems have never been the "cool" way to build services, and we're excited to have the opportunity to bring their developer experience into the modern era. Job postings looking for Software Engineers who are experts in React or Python or whatever language/framework are so 2025. If your engineers are writing code you're going too slow (or ... maybe you're writing very dense novel compression algorithms or something?). Don't hire one more engineer that way. In the time it'll take you to go through that old school process, your project manager could have figured out how to set up Claude Code and just build it themselves. That's not a dig at project managers, it's a wake-up call to you as a(n engineering) hiring manager. Set aside an hour today to rethink things. Pull down all those stale job postings and write one that's appropriate for February 2026. And revisit it in March 2026. How to 2x your eng team output w/ coding agents: make an overnight "Accelerated Task Pipeline." 1. Set up a coding agent in the cloud w/ access to your repos ✅ (We use our own Coworker.ai agent called Cloud Merlin, but use whatever you prefer.) 2. Every JIRA ticket that's categorized as "Accelerated" -- i.e. bugs or task-sized features -- automatically gets fed to cloud agent ✅ (KEY NOTE: the relative cost of trying to "fix" or "build" something w/ AI is so low, we don't check the validity of the report until AFTER the AI comes up with an attempted solution overnight. Think of this as a sort of async processing for organizations, optimizing for speed.) 3. Rotating daily engineer reviews (3a) quality of bug report/feature requirements (before reviewing code). If not good enough, kill draft PR and send back to reporter (3b) if requirements (basically the "prompt" in this case) are good enough, review the code itself and go through all security/privacy checks etc. ✅ 4. Ship it in that day's release ✅ The onus of "thinking through" a bug or minor feature shifts from an individual engineer -> ops+product+AI. Massively cuts total time spent investigating and speeds up feedback loop from customers/ops -> product. Goodluck
