FY2025 BUILD_RAISE GRANT AWARDS ANNOUNCED BY USDOT💲💲💲 Interesting results for California, which again did not receive its fair share of federal funding support. What happened and how do we know? 🤔 ➡️ FY25 Round 1 Award Allocations for RAISE = $ 1,320,000,000 (Biden Admin) ➡️ FY25 Round 2 Award Allocations for BUILD_RAISE = $ 488,100,000 (Trump Admin) Awarded Projects: https://lnkd.in/gbd-DjD8 As the state with the largest population (at 11.93% of the U.S.), Californians should reasonably expect to receive roughly 12% of the funding from these grant awards. A theater renovation. Affordable homes for hundreds of families. Small businesses finally gaining access to capital. This is the kind of impact Civic Communities is delivering across Southern California. I recently wrapped up my term as Board Chair, and I’m proud to share our 2025 Annual Report. In 2025 alone, Civic helped deliver: • $44.5M deployed into community projects • 1,097 housing units facilitated (including 1,038 affordable homes) • 358 jobs created and sustained • 3,109 individuals served through community programs • $151.5M in public improvements managed One milestone that stood out: Civic received an $85M New Markets Tax Credit allocation, bringing the organization’s total to $413M (!!!) over the past 12 years. Serving as Chair has been an incredible experience. I’m grateful to the Civic team, the Board, and our partners who are working every day to expand opportunity and strengthen communities. No more waiting. Because… We did that. We released the High Stakes report. And the room was full—of policy makers, educators, community leaders, workers, and every single person this industry touches. We surveyed over 1,100 cannabis workers across California and spent more than three years collecting stories, analyzing conditions, and collaborating with our partners to bring this research to life. What came out of it? A truth-telling, worker-centered, historic report that names what’s happening—and what’s possible. It was more than a launch. It was a moment. A mirror. A movement. And while this project is complete, the real work is just beginning. Now, we move in advocacy. Now, we take the demands of this workforce and head to Sacramento. Now, we organize, educate, and build. Because cannaworkers have spoken. They want safety. They want fairness. They want training, stability, and a real future in this industry. And we’re not just listening—we’re moving. Deepest gratitude to the @uclalabor , our nine incredible community partners, and my fellow researchers—Madison, Victoria, and Robert. I’m proud to stand beside you and inside this movement.
