Samuel Chamberlain shared thisThank you Alexander Hillary - it was a pleasure and cannot wait to get you back onboard in 2027 to the North Pole!Samuel Chamberlain shared thisI recently had the opportunity to make a quick trip to New York for an event with PONANT Explorations and The Explorers Club. What struck me most was the passion, energy, and boldness that define Ponant’s approach. They are an organisation built on adventure, luxury, and—above all—excellence. Nothing is done in half measures. Their flagship, Le Commandant Charcot, is one of the world’s most advanced icebreakers, combining state-of-the-art technology with an impressive commitment to environmental responsibility. From its weather and climate sensors on the superstructure, to the wet and dry labs processing seawater and ice samples, even down to the ice-thickness sensor on its bow, the Charcot stands as both an expedition tourism vessel and a floating research platform. Being onboard, you feel remarkably safe, despite being in one of the most remote, inaccessible and inhospitable environments on the planet. These photos are from The Explorers Club in New York and from our voyage aboard the Charcot in July, when we journeyed to the North Pole for a filmmaking project with the Exploration Museum in Húsavík. Samuel Chamberlain shared thisThank you Richard Vevers !Samuel Chamberlain shared thisI’m thrilled to announce a new partnership between Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and PONANT EXPLORATIONS GROUP, the global leader in luxury expedition travel. WHOI scientists and engineers will join PONANT expeditions to conduct cutting-edge ocean research and test innovative new technologies that push the frontiers of science — giving guests a front-row seat to discovery in action. Together, we’re developing an onboard educational program I’m particularly excited about: reintroducing the ocean to guests through the unique perspective of WHOI scientists. We're hoping guests will leave each voyage with a renewed sense of awe and understanding of our ocean planet and the potential of ocean science. We can’t wait to get started later this month with expeditions to Antarctica on PONANT’s incredible icebreaker Le Commandant Charcot. #OceanScience #Exploration #Partnership #Innovation #WHOI #PONANT Photo by Mike Louagie

Samuel Chamberlain shared this🌊 Our commitment to scientific research and exploration runs deep. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce a new partnership with Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) — the world’s leading organization dedicated to ocean research, exploration, and education. Together, we’ll launch scientific expeditions, develop onboard educational programming, and support the testing of next-generation ocean research technology—all made possible by our ships’ access to some of the most remote parts of our planet, including the polar regions. At PONANT EXPLORATIONS GROUP, we believe responsible exploration means opening the door to discovery and giving scientists, students, and guests a front-row seat to innovation that advances global understanding of our oceans. This partnership begins later this month with a pioneering Antarctic expedition aboard Le Commandant Charcot, where WHOI scientists will deploy cutting-edge LiDAR technology to better understand the stability of Antarctic ice sheets and their impact on global sea levels. We’re proud to provide a platform for research and education that accelerates meaningful change in ocean conservation. 🌍💙 Jeremy Lindblad Richard Vevers Wassim Daoud Susan Robison Patrick Marchesseau Etienne Garcia Richard Vito Danielle Fino Sandy Doss Sam Harp #OceanScience #Exploration #Sustainability #LeCommandantCharcot #PonantExplorations #WHOI https://lnkd.in/eZb7N2j6Ponant Explorations Group Announces New Partnership With WhoiPonant Explorations Group Announces New Partnership With Whoi

For most of us, that space disappears quickly. The week often begins with a surge of input. Individually manageable, but collectively enough to fragment attention before it has been intentionally directed. Research from Harvard Business School on “attention residue” suggests that when we move rapidly between tasks, a portion of our cognitive capacity remains tied to the previous one. The effect is subtle, but cumulative, resulting in a measurable decline in clarity and decision quality. What’s often less discussed is when this process begins in the day. The most effective leaders tend to approach this window with more intention. Not by doing less, but by sequencing their attention differently in the morning; creating a brief period without input, allowing natural light to stabilize energy, and protecting high-cognitive work before the day becomes reactive. It’s a small shift, but one that compounds quickly. In practice, that often looks like: • 10 minutes without input upon waking: delaying email and messaging to preserve cognitive clarity before the first decision is made. Bonus- add in a few minutes of deep breathing to regulate cortisol and train the brain to stay present. • Early exposure to natural light: even on overcast days, outdoor light provides a clear signal to the brain that the day has begun, helping to regulate circadian rhythm, stabilize cortisol release, and improve alertness and energy within the first few hours • Low-intensity morning movement: walking or light exercise increases cerebral blood flow and supports dopamine regulation, both of which are associated with improved focus and cognitive flexibility • Structuring the day by cognitive demand: placing high-level thinking first, and scheduling lower-value tasks later, rather than allowing them to compete for attention #HighPerformance #Leadership #Productivity #WellnessStrategy OOTD Vuori

Samuel Chamberlain liked thisSamuel Chamberlain liked thisNEW GRADUATES: Exceptional Cruise Industry Employment Opportunity The cruise industry offers an exceptional employment landscape for several compelling reasons: **Career Breadth & Mobility** Few industries match the sheer diversity of roles from marine operations, hospitality, entertainment, and culinary arts to finance, marketing, technology, and environmental compliance. A career can evolve across departments, brands, and geographies in ways that are nearly impossible in land-based hospitality. **Global Exposure** Employees, particularly shipboard, work across the world’s most iconic ports and waterways. That geographic immersion builds cultural intelligence and a worldview that is genuinely rare and professionally valuable. **Accelerated Advancement** The industry’s growth trajectory and operational complexity create leadership opportunities faster than most comparable industries. Onboard management responsibilities at relatively young career stages would be exceptional in hotels or resorts. **Compensation & Benefits** For disciplined, career-oriented individuals ... particularly early in their career ...shipboard employment represents one of the highest net savings opportunities in the global hospitality workforce. Shore-side roles at major lines are highly competitive with comparable positions in hospitality, finance, and technology sectors - in addition to great cruise benefits. **Scale & Complexity** A large cruise ship is essentially a floating city ... managing 5,000+ guests and 2,000+ crew members simultaneously. The operational sophistication required develops professionals who can handle complexity at a level few industries demand. **Industry Growth** The global cruise industry continues to expand its passenger base, fleet capacity, and geographic reach. New builds, new markets (Asia, expedition, ultra-luxury), and new consumer demographics create sustained demand for talented professionals at every level. **Purpose & Experience** At its core, the industry delivers joy; milestone celebrations, family reunions, bucket-list destinations. That emotional resonance is a meaningful part of the employment experience and drives genuine pride among industry professionals. **Community & Culture** The shipboard community, in particular, creates extraordinarily strong bonds. I admire the community that can develop. The shared experience of living and working together in a unique environment builds loyalty and camaraderie that former crew members carry for life. For students entering the field through programs like FIU Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management, the cruise industry represents one of the few sectors where a hospitality or tourism degree can lead directly to global, high-responsibility, and genuinely differentiated career paths. #CruiseJobs #CruiseCareers #CruiseIndustry #CareerOpportunity #Leadership #FutureLeaders #Hospitality #Workforce #WorkAbroad #FIU #CLIA #SeaTrade

Samuel Chamberlain liked thisSamuel Chamberlain liked thisStillness in Santa Fe: A restorative escape rooted in ancient healing and modern longevity. At nearly 7,200 feet, Santa Fe, New Mexico, offers more than breathtaking landscapes; it invites a different physiological experience. High-altitude environments introduce a form of controlled stress, encouraging the body to adapt- enhancing metabolic and mitochondrial efficiency. Rooted in the region’s rich cultural heritage, healing spices and traditions add another layer of holistic wellbeing, grounding the experience in both nourishment and ritual. Paired with expansive dark skies and a natural invitation to disconnect, Santa Fe creates space for a deeper kind of reset. It’s a reminder that wellness is not always driven by doing more, but by choosing environments that foster a deeper sense of restoration. My recent column in Four Seasons Magazine explores this intersection of place, performance, and restoration. In ultra-luxury markets, availability depends on one thing (and it’s not budget). There's often an assumption that the service quality of concierge partners for UHNW clients comes down to execution competence and response speed. And both matter. But in destinations like Mykonos during peak August, Courchevel over Christmas week, or Saint-Tropez in July, something else determines whether your client gets what they need: Supplier relationships. Not contact lists. Relationships. The difference shows up when inventory is tight and options disappear. At that point, access ultimately comes down to who's making the ask. We've seen this year after year in Mykonos. When you need a last-minute table at a fully booked restaurant, when a villa cancels 48 hours before arrival, when weather forces a yacht route change – situations are solved and luxury is protected through relationships, not requests or budgets. Here's how this plays out: A concierge with a contact list sends an email or makes a call. They're asking for a favor from someone who doesn't know them. The answer is usually no, or "let me see what I can do," which means probably no. A concierge with real relationships makes the same call, but the conversation is different. There's history. There's trust. There's reciprocity built over years. They're activating a relationship, not asking for a favor. Which means the answer shifts from "maybe" to "let me make this work." That shift protects your client's experience when variables change. And we’ve learned this at Cloud 9 and acted accordingly over the years. We invest heavily in supplier relationships through in-person industry access: • We attend events where the luxury travel ecosystem is built – where serious advisors connect with serious suppliers. • We prioritize face-time with restaurant managers, villa owners, yacht operators, and security teams. • And we've been doing this long enough that the relationships other concierges are still working to build already exist for us – and run deep. When August in Mykonos is fully compressed and a client needs something rare, we’re able to activate relationships we've spent years building. So, when considering concierge partners for your UHNW client, focus on: • How long have they been operating in this destination? • Can they give examples of times they secured access when inventory was sold out? • Do they attend industry events where supplier relationships are built, or rely on digital communication alone? A concierge with real relationships doesn't just execute well when things go smoothly. They solve problems that would otherwise collapse the experience. Curious how we approach supplier relationships differently? Send me a DM, I’ll be happy to share more.
