If you keep underselling yourself, you will keep getting what doesn’t matter. The wrong clients. The wrong opportunities. The kind of work that looks busy, but builds nothing. And here’s something no one will tell you: You don’t just miss out on revenue. You miss out on access. You don’t get invited into the rooms that shift industries. You don’t get associated with the people who move markets. You don’t get referred, mentioned, or remembered because you were never visible to begin with. You keep your head down. You wait to be discovered. You think the work will speak for itself. It won’t. Not anymore. If your name doesn’t carry weight in your space, you don’t get to choose your clients. You don’t get to pick your partners. You don’t shape the narrative. You just take what’s left. That’s why your personal brand is not a vanity project. It’s your only insurance against being overlooked. People don’t work with the best. They work with who they know and trust. So if you’re building something real, Make sure people know who built it. Because what’s worse than rejection is never being considered at all.
