È il regalo di un’amica (non esperta di vino) che ha voluto ringraziarmi per un favore: un gesto che, per me, vale molto più del punteggio di una guida. Sapevo che postandolo nelle stories avrei attirato le critiche dei puristi, e in fondo volevo proprio testare le reazioni. Si parla tanto di democratizzare il vino e di « avvicinare i neofiti », ma la realtà è diversa: spesso predicate bene e razzolate male. Sia chiaro: non è un vino da buttarsi in terra, è semplice e di corpo esile. Ma è corretto, non ha difetti e, soprattutto, è inclusivo. È un vino pop che si fa bere con piacere da chi non cerca tecnicismi a tutti i costi. Eppure, il riflesso incondizionato di molti è quello di esprimersi con termini sprezzanti e senza alcuna educazione. Pensate se la poverina avesse portato questo champagne ad una cena di « espertoni ». Forse il problema non è il vino nel calice, ma lo snobismo di chi lo guarda. Siete senza speranza. Vi lascio con una citazione non mia che rende bene l’idea del mondo vitivinicolo: « Si era costruito un trono così alto che, quando arrivò la tempesta, fu l’unico a non sentire le grida di avvertimento dal basso » Bevete a modino…. #bereresponsabilmente

These heavier elements were then expelled into space once the stars exploded as massive first supernovae. Since then, massive exploding stars have contributed elements to the universe thus setting in motion the cosmic chemical evolution. Turns out the root cause wasn’t capacity or network… it was a race condition in DNS automation that deleted the regional endpoint entry for DynamoDB. That one missing record triggered a domino effect: - EC2 instance launches failed - NLBs started failing health checks - Services from Lambda to ECS to Connect got impacted There were three distinct periods of impact: - 𝟭𝟭:𝟰𝟴 𝗣𝗠 𝗣𝗗𝗧 𝗼𝗻 𝗢𝗰𝘁 𝟭𝟵 → 𝟮:𝟰𝟬 𝗔𝗠 𝗣𝗗𝗧 𝗼𝗻 𝗢𝗰𝘁 𝟮𝟬: Amazon DynamoDB (DynamoDB) experienced increased API error rates; endpoint resolution failures occurred due to DNS issues. - 𝟮:𝟮𝟱 𝗔𝗠 → 𝟭𝟬:𝟯𝟲 𝗔𝗠 𝗣𝗗𝗧 𝗼𝗻 𝗢𝗰𝘁 𝟮𝟬: New launches of Amazon EC2 instances failed, and even once launches succeeded, some connectivity issues for newly launched instances persisted. - 𝟱:𝟯𝟬 𝗔𝗠 → 𝟮:𝟬𝟵 𝗣𝗠 𝗣𝗗𝗧 𝗼𝗻 𝗢𝗰𝘁 𝟮𝟬: Network Load Balancer (NLB) in us-east-1 experienced increased connection errors because of health check failures cascading. FibrX https://www.fibrx.io/ Strategic Importance of U.S. Shipbuilding The U.S. is hearing renewed calls to bring shipbuilding back to American shores. Recent announcements from the Trump Administration highlight plans for a new “Trump-class” of battleships, massive 30,000–40,000 ton vessels envisioned as the largest surface combatants since World War II (USNI News, Dec 22, 2025). For decades, America’s share of global shipbuilding fell to just 0.1% (1), while China now commands more than 53.8% (2). China’s shipyards don’t just build commercial vessels for foreign buyers. They also produce warships for the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN). This dual‑use model has helped China grow the PLAN into the largest navy in the world, with more than 370 ships today and projected to reach 435 by 2030 (3). The U.S. response is the “Golden Fleet” initiative, tying naval expansion directly to economic revitalization. Billions in defense appropriations have already been allocated. The FY2025 defense budget totals about $841 billion (4), with shipbuilding projected to average $40 billion annually over the next 30 years (5). The Significance - National Security: A modern fleet is essential to counter peer competitors. - Industrial Base: Shipbuilding strengthens supply chains, skilled labor, and advanced manufacturing throughout most industries. - Innovation: New warships will integrate AI, hypersonic weapons, advanced sensing systems, and directed energy capabilities such as high‑energy lasers and electromagnetic pulse weapons. The FibrX Interface At FibrX, we see a transformational role for our technology in this naval renaissance: - Detecting corrosion early to reduce lifecycle costs. - Embedding light weight, low profile fiber optic sensors for real‑time structural intelligence. - Enabling uncertainty-aware analytics enhanced digital twin models for predictive maintenance. - Aligning with “Buy American” priorities by strengthening domestic supply chains. Closing Thought The strategic importance of U.S. shipbuilding lies not only in producing new warships but in rebuilding the nation’s industrial backbone. Lots of text in the AWS post-mortem: https://lnkd.in/e-xRFw6b (edited for brevity) * already disabled the DynamoDB DNS Planner and the DNS Enactor automation worldwide * we will fix the race condition scenario and add additional protections to prevent the application of incorrect DNS plans. * For NLB, we are adding a velocity control mechanism to limit the capacity a single NLB can remove when health check failures cause AZ failover. * For EC2, we are building an additional test suite * We will improve the throttling mechanism in our EC2 data propagation systems to rate limit * we will look for additional ways to avoid impact from a similar event in the future, and how to further reduce time to recovery.
