Zachary Abbott shared thisVery grateful and excited to share that we completed our Series A round earlier this year (see press release below)! The whole team at ZBiotics has been working ridiculously hard to create incredible growth and success that put us in a great position to complete this raise! We’re laying the foundation for an exciting new category of genetically engineered probiotics, and I’m so phenomenally excited about where we are and where we’re headed as a company. Thanks to the Series A, we’re in a strong position to continue growing the digital footprint of Pre-Alcohol, as well as launching that product into brick-and-mortar retail. In addition, we’ll be gearing up to launch our second product (very soon!) and investing in an exciting pipeline of new products in development. We’ll also be able to invest in international expansion, company culture initiatives, and more resources across the board! Thank you sincerely to Spring Tide Capital for leading the round, and welcome to the team! And also big thanks to Access Capital, Seamless Capital LP, Goat Rodeo Capital, Seaside Ventures, Siddhi Capital, Able Partners, Pure Ventures, Y Combinator, and all of our other investors – existing and new – who made this possible! It’s an exciting time to be at ZBiotics!ZBiotics, Maker of World’s First Genetically Engineered Probiotics, Raises $12M Series AZBiotics, Maker of World’s First Genetically Engineered Probiotics, Raises $12M Series A

Zachary Abbott shared thisHELP NEEDED! I'm applying to give a talk at SXSW next year titled "Beyond the Butterfly Label: GMOs as the Future of Health". Part of the selection process is public voting on candidate talks, and so if you have a minute to go in and upvote my talk, I'd really appreciate it! Go to the link below; you'll need to set up an account in order to vote, but it only takes 30 seconds. We gotta get the word out about all the good we can do with GMOs!Beyond the Butterfly Label: GMOs as the Future of HealthBeyond the Butterfly Label: GMOs as the Future of Health

Zachary Abbott shared thisLooking forward to speaking at the 7th Microbiome Movement conference on November 8th! I'll be giving a talk titled "The Benefits, Strategy & Challenges of Using Genetic Engineering for Product Development", where I'll be using our first product — the world's first genetically engineered probiotic to go to market — as a case study for how we can leverage biotechnology to bring much-needed innovation to the consumer microbiome category. I'm excited about the future we're working towards!

Zachary Abbott shared this3 years of hard work. I'm so excited that we actually did it! We launched the world's first genetically engineered probiotic! It's been quite a ride so far, and hopefully this is just the beginning!Zachary Abbott shared thisToday, we’re proud to launch the world's 1st-ever genetically engineered probiotic. Available at https://zbiotics.com. ZBiotics™ is engineered to act like your liver breaking down an unwanted byproduct of alcohol and helping you feel better the day after drinking. So you can live each day to the fullest. 3+ years in development. 10,000 samples. PhD-level science. It’s a new vision for GMOs: responsible, transparent, and built for you. And while this may be the 1st engineered probiotic, it won’t be the last.

Zachary Abbott reacted on thisZachary Abbott reacted on thisI engineer bacteria for a living but never thought of it as a tech-product until I got to enjoy the unboxing experience of ZBiotics' Sugar-To-Fiber product! And what an amazing job they've done! It's clear that every little aspect of the packaging was carefully designed and crafted to be encouraging, educational, and transparent about the technology. Once you open the box, you're greeted with a bold statement - "The first of many good decisions" on the inner lid. This applies just as much to the user as it does to Zbiotics, which is increasingly leveraging synthetic biology to create health-positive products. Then, there's a small manual. A MANUAL! A Brilliant addition to inform the user of exactly what they are getting with this Proudly GMO probiotic. The inner cylindrical container sits snugly in its slot, serenely standing out with its off-white color in the black box. The top of this container slides up smoothly, offering the same satisfaction as peeling the plastic protector off a new smartphone screen. And the cylinder below offers more encouragement with another bold statement - "Welcome to the future of probiotics". Another beautiful touch are the days of the week listed around the inner cylinder with a hole in the lid to indicate when you took your last sachet. Finally, the inside is filled with sachets in an exciting blue and the logo subtly overlaid. In my opinion, all this isn't even necessary considering what the product amazingly does - it's got bacteria engineered to break down sucrose and polymerize the resulting fructose into levan fiber that enriches your good microbiome! You take a sachet each day and it stays in your gut making fiber from the disproportionate amount of sugar we consume in our modern diets! The powder mixed in water looks rather earthy but it's got a very mildly pleasant flavor. I'm curious to find out what I experience over the next few weeks! Has anyone else tried this product yet and experienced its benefits? I would be interested to know about it! PS: If you feel I sound like a fangirl at a Taylor Swift concert in this post, you're exactly right! That's how excited I am about what Zbiotics is doing to open the world to the benefits of Synthetic Biology. And a mighty thanks to Sandiego Himawan for editing this video to beautifully reflect my overwhelming enthusiasm 😁 #Health #Synbio #Tech

It was an honor and pleasure to share the stage representing early stage biotech with this illustrious panel. Thanks for moderatingFranklin Rice, and to fellow panelists Lori Hu, Jonathan Norris and Elton Satusky. My takeaways from the event: It is clear that platforms are still viable, they just have to be proven by a lead asset that can make it into the clinic. Our panel agreed that platform supported assets have a strong value proposition in the current fundraising environment, since most stakeholders want to see a pathway to future asset development. That being said, much of the funding in Biotech right now is going to insider extensions and internally seeded mega rounds, leaving many of the most innovative companies with less cash to go around in a tight market. Now more than ever we need VCs to step up and support biotech innovation; as major pharma continue to cut R&D funding, these startups will be the dominant source of novel assets in the coming years. Unless we increase funding to support early stage biotech the pipeline issues seen across pharma will only continue to grow as more and more blockbuster assets reach the end of IP exclusivity. As always Michelle Nemits and Biocom California put on an amazing event. Can't wait for the next in the series!

UC Irvine has an entire cannabis research program, exploring cannabinoids like THC, CBD, and CBG. These compounds interact with a system we didn't even learn about in medical school—neuroreceptors specifically for these chemicals. It's a relatively new area of study with serious research happening at major universities. The challenge? Cannabis's psychoactive effects led to its ban, overshadowing its potential medicinal applications. #CannabisResearch #Cannabinoids #MedicalResearch #HealthBenefits
