🕶️ Devil May Cry 2 (2003)
Let’s be honest — this is the black sheep of the franchise. Dante’s personality is muted, the gameplay is oddly slow, and the level design is uninspired. But is it unplayable? Not at all. In fact, with the right expectations, it offers a chill, almost meditative hack & slash experience.

On the bright side, it introduced Lucia as a playable character and gave us some cool dodging mechanics and wall-running. Think of it as a breather between two chaos-filled storms.

🔥 Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening – Special Edition (2005)
This is peak Dante. The most beloved entry of the classic trilogy and one of the finest action games ever made. DMC3 serves as a prequel, telling the story of Dante’s rivalry with his brother Vergil, his discovery of power, and how he truly became the devil hunter we know today.

Combat is fast, fluid, and brutally satisfying. You can switch between multiple styles (Trickster, Swordmaster, Gunslinger, Royalguard) and even switch weapons mid-combo — something revolutionary at the time. This Special Edition lets you play as Vergil, adding even more replay value.

The difficulty is no joke, but every boss you overcome feels like a badge of honor. Stylish combat isn't just encouraged — it's demanded.

💽 HD Remaster & Performance
While these are not complete remakes, the HD upgrade is clean and serviceable. Textures are upscaled, performance is smooth (60 FPS), and the games support modern widescreens. DMC1 & DMC2 retain their PS2-era quirks, but DMC3 plays beautifully, especially with a controller.

Keyboard and mouse are supported, but not recommended for precise combat — a gamepad is the way to go.

🎵 Soundtrack & Vibes

This game isn’t just a return to form for the franchise, it’s the definitive evolution of what Devil May Cry was always meant to be: brutally stylish, emotionally impactful, and technically masterful.

⚔️ Gameplay – 10/10
Let’s get this out of the way: DMC5 is arguably the best action combat system ever made. Period.
You get to play as three completely different characters:

Nero – Back with his Red Queen sword and Blue Rose revolver, but now rocking Devil Breakers, a collection of prosthetic arms with unique powers (grapple, time stop, explosive punches, and more). He’s more versatile than ever.

V – A brand new character who commands three demon familiars (Griffon, Shadow, Nightmare) to do the fighting while he stays out of harm’s way. A completely different kind of gameplay—tactical, poetic, and risky.

Dante – The king returns with all his iconic style-switching madness, multiple melee weapons (Rebellion, Sparda, Balrog, Cavaliere, Devil Sword Dante...) and a deep arsenal of guns (Ebony & Ivory, Coyote-A, Kalina Ann x2, and the absurd Dr. Faust). There’s nothing else like him in gaming. SSS rank or go home.

The combat depth is absurd. You can juggle enemies mid-air for minutes, style-cancel attacks, experiment with hundreds of combo routes, and still feel like you’ve only scratched the surface.

🔥 Performance & Visuals – 10/10
The RE Engine shines here. DMC5 looks jaw-droppingly beautiful without sacrificing performance. Fluid 60 FPS gameplay (even on mid-range rigs), crisp animations, realistic lighting, and expressive facial detail. Each environment, from ruined cities to demonic hellscapes, is dripping with mood and style.

It’s one of the best optimized PC ports Capcom has ever released.

🎵 Music & Sound Design – 10/10
Every character has a dynamic battle theme that builds as you fight better.

“Devil Trigger” for Nero is an adrenaline bomb.

“Crimson Cloud” for V is eerie, poetic, and deadly.

“Subhuman” and later “Bury the Light” for Dante and Vergil are metal masterpieces.

Sound effects are razor-sharp. Every sword slash, gunshot, and explosion is punchy. Voice acting is top-tier, especially Johnny Yong Bosch as Nero and Reuben Langdon's iconic Dante performance.

🧠 Story – 8.5/10
Surprisingly heartfelt. The story picks up years after DMC4, revolving around a mysterious demon king named Urizen and the secrets behind V’s identity. We get to see Nero’s growth, Dante’s pain and duty, and even Vergil’s long-awaited return.

While it’s still a bit campy and full of one-liners (as it should be), there’s emotional weight here—especially in the Dante/Vergil arc. The ending is bittersweet perfection.

🔁 Replayability – 10/10
With multiple difficulties (Human, Devil Hunter, Son of Sparda, Dante Must Die, Heaven or Hell, Hell and Hell), secret missions, S-rank challenges, hidden blue/red orbs, and three completely unique playstyles, DMC5 begs to be replayed.

Add Bloody Palace mode, where you climb floor after floor of enemies with increasing difficulty, and the Vergil DLC (where you can play as him in the full campaign and BP), and you have a game with infinite replay value.
