Michael Bryzek reposted thisMichael Bryzek reposted thisI’m excited to officially announce Sugar Free Capital’s Fund I. Our LP base includes institutions as well as the family offices of leading technical luminaries from Nvidia, Jane Street, Citadel, Renaissance Technologies, Crusoe, and The Boston Consulting Group. Our thesis is rooted in the MIT founder ecosystem, where gritty and intense builders take on the impossible. We closed our first fund in just six months last year, and over the past nine months, we’ve been quietly backing the next generation of technical founders, often MIT alums, across defense, gaming, physical AI, and infrastructure. One of the best pieces of advice I ever received came in my first week at MIT, from one of my first faculty advisors: “This will be the highest density of smart people you’ll ever be around.” Stepping into the real world, I realized how right that was. Sugar Free Capital lets me recreate that same dense bubble of genius - and I don’t take it for granted. To our founders: Thank you for letting me be part of your life’s work. To our LPs: Thank you for your conviction in me and in our thesis from the very start. To the SFC team: Aaron, Stephanie, Jack, and Andrew: your energy, resilience, and growth mindset inspire me every day. And to those who gave me my earliest opportunities - Kent at Bessemer, Sam and Dinesh at Comcast Ventures, and Jim at Crosslink/Tuck - I’ll remain forever grateful for your guidance and belief. Ultimately, the best companies are built at lightning speed by founders with both urgency and extraordinary technical depth. If you’re a technical founder building the impossible, we’d love to hear from you: team@sugarfreecapital.com. We’re just getting started. Warmly, Sheena Thank you to TechCrunch and Dominic-Madori Davis for sharing our story. https://lnkd.in/g4zpUArm

Michael Bryzek shared thisI’ve been a huge fan of Richard Feldman's Software Unscripted Podcast for a long time. It’s an excellent show that dives deep into computer science topics with an amazing range of guests. Last year, I had the chance to meet Richard in person, and I can honestly say he’s both incredibly smart and genuinely kind. Recently, I had the privilege of sitting down with him to discuss one of my favorite topics: building high-quality software through testing in production. Our conversation explored some of the “unique” approaches we’ve learned at Gilt Groupe and Flow Commerce, starting with a foundation in behavioral psychology. It was such an insightful and thought-provoking discussion. If you’re as passionate about software development as I am, I highly recommend checking out Richard’s podcast. It’s packed with fantastic content for engineers and software enthusiasts alike! https://lnkd.in/eiMfQt6m #SoftwareEngineering #TestingInProduction #QualitySoftware

Michael Bryzek shared thisCongrats Susan, Nisha and Team! Very excited to see @BBGVentures new $60M Fund II broaden their mandate from female founders to include all overlooked foundersMichael Bryzek shared thisFive years ago, my partner Nisha Dua and I left corporate life and formed BBG Ventures, convinced that a rising generation of founders from diverse communities and backgrounds were poised to build transformative companies in a rapidly changing America. Today we’re announcing a new $60M early-stage fund to continue that work, and releasing the research that informed our investment thesis: The Mind of Polycultural America: A Look at Identity, Priorities and Behaviors (https://lnkd.in/eGzP3f2r) We’ve always looked around corners to identify shifts in behavior and attitudes. But several years ago, Nisha began describing the changing face of the country as the American Polyculture; and last year we set out to better understand it. That research – a survey of 2000+ people, large enough to be statistically relevant across race, gender, age, income, political party, and geography – reveals a number of surprising insights. Americans today define their identities based on a unique perception of their place in the world, which will demand more nuance and personalization in the platforms and products we bring to market; but we have surprisingly common priorities, needs and concerns across nearly every age group, race and gender. The research also confirmed our belief that a diverse cross-section of founders who understand first-hand the challenges and opportunities in our polycultural future will have a competitive advantage in arenas that still need transformation: health, education, financial security, workforce support and climate safety. Thrilled to be on this journey with my partner of more than decade, Nisha Dua, plus the stellar BBGV team: Claire Biernacki, Carol Magalhães Isaacs, Drew Silverman Fennessy, Addison B. Marsh, Jr. If you know a founder transforming the way we live in one of these categories, send them our way. Thanks Leena Rao for the coverage on Business Insider! https://lnkd.in/eRb5Vv3R

Michael Bryzek liked thisMichael Bryzek liked thisToday is my first day on the Engineering team at Fay Nutrition. Fay's platform pairs registered dietitians with intelligent technology to deliver affordable, expert-led care to the people who need it most. I'll be working on the iOS app, a critical part of how people can manage their health and nutrition journey (it's always in our pocket!) It was clear from the start the team is full of kind and skilled people. Working on technology is important to me; so is using that work to make our world a bit better. I'm thrilled that I can do both here.

Michael Bryzek liked thisMichael Bryzek liked thisLeadership lesson for this week. I'm a believer in "fake it 'til you make it." Sometimes the only way is through the experience itself. Nearly 15 years ago, I had the chance to lead my first large M&A deal. I was working closely with our CFO at the time, and he suggested I go alone to the next round of discussions with the company we were seeking to acquire. I demurred, he conceded, and we traveled and handled the meeting together. Fast forward a couple of weeks, and the CFO made clear that I should handle the next, and hopefully final, round of negotiation alone. Well, I didn't need to be asked a third time! I didn't feel entirely ready to close the deal, but my CFO was clear that he was confident I could. So I consciously stepped into the role of lead negotiator, stepped onto the plane, and finalized the deal (not in one day, but shortly thereafter). In fact, insisting that I was returning home that evening proved to be a key bargaining tactic. I'm talking about stepping outside your comfort zone, not your competence zone. It's still about surrounding yourself with an excellent team and expertise, asking good questions, gathering data, and exercising judgment.

Michael Bryzek liked thisMichael Bryzek liked thisBig congrats to Eric Kau Allie Melnick and Nick Haft on launching Climatic today! 🚀 Lung health has been treated as reactive for far too long. Most of us only think about our lungs during wildfire smoke, COVID, or when traveling to heavily polluted cities, but in reality, we’re breathing unhealthy air every day. Despite that, prevention has barely entered the wellness conversation. Climatic is changing that. Their first product, L Max, is a daily lung health solution designed to help clear airways and support easier breathing in under 30 seconds: • Direct-to-lung delivery • Clinically tested, naturally derived ingredients • Built on decades of lung physiology Early data is compelling: research with Mount Sinai showed >50% improvement in mucus clearance after a single use, and 98% of athletes in testing reported easier breathing during workouts, alongside HRV gains in just weeks. Access to LMax opens today → climatichealth.com. Michael Bryzek liked thisMichael Bryzek liked thisLast week we were at the "Engineering the Exit" dinner hosted by the Wells Fargo Banking team - great room of founders, operators, and investors. One thing kept coming up is that in robotics and physical AI, the tech is rarely what makes or breaks you, but the messy work of actually deploying it in the real world is where the moat is built. We continue to be focused on teams with a clear understanding of the execution and commercial pathways for physical AI- excited to announce our latest investment here soon!

Michael Bryzek reacted on thisMichael Bryzek reacted on thisI’m deeply honoured to be inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame 2026 Class alongside such an extraordinary group of women whose work has shaped history and continues to shape our future. https://lnkd.in/eywZJkN3 To be recognised by an institution rooted in Seneca Falls, the birthplace of the women’s rights movement in the United States, makes this moment especially meaningful. It is a powerful reminder of the generations who have worked to expand rights, and of the responsibility we carry to continue that work. This recognition is not mine alone. It reflects the generations who came before us, the organisations I have had the privilege to serve over the past three decades, and the extraordinary commitment of the Equality Now team, our partners, and the many advocates, survivors, and changemakers who have driven reform of more than 135 discriminatory laws worldwide. That progress has been built through persistence, partnership, and a shared belief in a future where all voices matter in decision-making. Together, this work has touched the lives of millions of women and girls and their communities, now and for generations to come. I am equally inspired to be recognised alongside this year’s inductees - women across disciplines whose leadership expands what is possible. At a time when hard-won rights are being tested, this moment is both a reflection of how far we’ve come and a reminder of how much further we must go. Legal equality for women and girls is not aspirational but is foundational to just and thriving societies. This recognition the National Women's Hall of Fame belongs to a global movement working to make that a reality. Grateful for this recognition, and even more committed to the work ahead. “By far one of the most exceptional people I ever hope to meet, much less work with. And that's putting it mildly. What can't Mike do well? I can't think of a single thing. And not only does he code, lead, run, business-strategize, present, write, bike, and parent well--he does it all while exuding this amazing, inspiring energy that is 100% genuine. I'll never forget the panel I watched Mike participate in during my first few weeks as Gilt tech evangelist; of the six panelists (all accomplished in their own rights), he stood out as though a spotlight shone on him. He just connected so well with the audience, and they responded in kind by forming a big crowd around him at the end. I saw many crowds form around Mike after subsequent panels/talks/public appearances--he just inspires people like that. I will always be grateful for having had the opportunity to work with him--just being around Mike and watching him do his thing will change your life for the better.”

Bonus essay from Dave's Quick Hits: If a superintelligent system watched us the way we watch a dog that once found rotisserie chicken in a specific spot, and now checks that spot every day, what would it actually see? I wrote a new essay, “The View from Above”, about that question. The core idea: a lot of human behavior is not random or mysterious from above. It is legible and steerable. We are often: 1️⃣ Checking the same “chicken spots” long after the reward is gone 2️⃣ Running on reward hijacks and mimetic desire we barely notice 3️⃣ Building institutions where internal incentives quietly beat the mission 4️⃣ Narrating our biases instead of actually escaping them From a smarter mind’s vantage point, they are predictable circuits. And once behavior is predictable at that level, it is easy to forecast and shape. The essay walks through: - The “chicken dog” analogy for human error that is coherent inside a limited model - A simple tier model of meta awareness and why it matters for who we trust near powerful systems - How current A/B tests, feeds, and recommender systems are already narrow proofs of concept for large scale steerability - Why any real hope lives in the scaffolding we build around our own bugs, not in raw willpower If you are thinking about AI, alignment, product design, or governance, I would love your pushback on this frame. 📄 Full essay here: https://lnkd.in/gr-Znuyu #artificialintelligence #aisafety #alignment #humannature #systemsthinking

Anthropic just shipped file-system agents to consumers. The architecture matters more than the feature! Cowork takes Claude Code's autonomous capabilities and removes the CLI barrier - now anyone on macOS can point Claude at a folder and let it execute multi-step workflows. Organize files, process data, create documents. The AI plans and executes independently. Why the technical approach matters Most AI tools operate in browser sandboxes. Cowork works at the OS level - executing file operations autonomously, not just suggesting edits. That's a fundamentally different execution model. Anthropic built this in ~1.5 weeks using Claude Code itself. When AI can scaffold its own tooling, development velocity changes completely. What this signals strategically The AI productivity market is bifurcating: 1. Chat-based tools scale horizontally (more users, more conversations, commoditizing) 2. Agentic tools scale vertically (fewer users, higher value, defensible if you solve for trust) Anthropic's $100-200/month pricing reflects this - they're positioning Cowork as workflow infrastructure, not consumer SaaS. The constraint is trust, not capability Claude can delete files and execute arbitrary operations. That's why this is a controlled research preview. The technical primitive works - the challenge is building trust infrastructure to scale it. Audit logs, rollback mechanisms, granular permissions - these are requirements, not nice-to-haves. Why OS-level access is the real trend Browser AI is limited by web security models. It can't access local files, email databases, or coordinate between applications without manual intervention. You feed it context, then manually move its output somewhere useful. OS-level AI sees your complete working context and executes full workflows autonomously. Pull data from email, update a spreadsheet, draft a report, sync to cloud - without human intervention between steps. Most valuable work happens between applications. Browser AI lives in one tab. System-level AI orchestrates across your entire computing environment. This is why the trend isn't just "better AI" - it's where AI runs. Browser tools compete on inference quality and UI (commoditizing fast). OS-level tools compete on integration depth and trust infrastructure (defensible, takes years to build). Where this leads If file-system agents prove out, next is inter-application orchestration. Today Cowork organizes folders. Tomorrow it coordinates across your file system, calendar, email and task manager. The highest-leverage AI applications won't live in browsers - they will live in your system with administrator-level permissions. Cowork isn't just a productivity feature. It's Anthropic testing whether users are ready for AI with OS-level access. https://lnkd.in/gAQG9UGe https://lnkd.in/gXW756p7 #AgenticAI #AI #ArtificialIntelligence

Just went live on the BlockHash Podcast with Brandon Zemp, where we explored why digital identity needs a reset. At Tracer Labs, we believe identity should follow the user, not the website. In this episode, I break down: - Why we built Trust ID as a privacy-first alternative to cookies and trackers - How a quantum-resistant consent layer unlocks verified commerce and fan engagement - What it means to unify cross-platform logins, rewards, and real-world data without compromising privacy If you're thinking about GDPR/CCPA compliance, zero-party data, or simply building trust in Web3 and beyond, this is for you.
