Amit Thaker shared thisLast night I presented at the Addison Township Mental Health Board meeting on behalf of ReferralGPS. I'm in awe on the impact that happens at the Township level, it's truly at the crossroads of making policy changes and interacting directly with residents. They now have their work cutout for them as there were many worthy potential projects presented that will directly benefit Addison residents. One of the highlights of the evening was meeting Liliana Alarcon, an impressive student at Lake Park High School and the founder of HopeBridge, a nonprofit on a mission to reduce stigma and increase access to care. The work she is doing at her age is thoughtful, needed, and full of heart. Our community is stronger when young leaders like her step up and build solutions.Amit Thaker shared this💡Last night, I had the privilege of speaking at the Addison Township Mental Health Board meeting about my nonprofit, HopeBridge. 💙As a student at Lake Park High School and the founder of HopeBridge, I shared our mission: increasing access to mental health services for low-income families by partnering with local therapy offices and providing peer education to reduce stigma. My goal was to highlight the importance of student involvement and to offer HopeBridge’s support as the board continues developing outreach, education, and community initiatives. 🫂I also had the chance to listen to six incredible nonprofits and agencies doing meaningful work in our community. One that especially inspired me was Cares Collaborative founded by Amit Thaker, which helps individuals find therapists and psychiatrists in their area—removing so much of the stress that comes with navigating providers and insurance networks. Their presentation, along with so many others, reminded me how many people are committed to making mental health support more accessible. 🧠I left feeling motivated, grateful, and excited for the future of mental health advocacy in our community. 🤍I’m thankful for the opportunity to speak, to learn, and to keep building HopeBridge in a way that uplifts and supports those who need it most. Looking forward to continuing this work.

After the event, a few other superintendents came up to say they felt the same. I walked out on cloud 9… and immediately spilled coffee on myself. Balance, right? Part of providing high-quality, whole-person care means giving families more control, better access, and a simpler way to manage their health information between visits. We’ve improved our patient portal experience and, since the start of February, have been using Epic’s MyChart across all our locations.

Access to care remains a challenge in Lake County. Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science and Molina are stepping up to address barriers to care. Through our latest investment in RFU’s Community Care Connection mobile health program, Molina is supporting the delivery of direct health care services in Lake County by funding staff salaries and supplies. As a physician volunteer and clinical instructor at RFU’s Interprofessional Community Clinic, I’m thrilled to continue our partnership to advance health outcomes in the community.

Live From Detroit! Yesterday, the Detroit Economic Club hosted a sold out event with local health care leaders Robert Riney, CEO of Henry Ford Health and Tina Freese Decker, CEO of Corewell Health along with AVIA's Executive Chairman and Founder, Eric Langshur. The topic: Healthcare Reimagined: CEO Insights on Healthcare & Medical Innovation From and AI Innovation perspective, here is what Eric had to share with the audience; - Exponential growth: From 1700 to today, global GDP growth has jumped from 8% per century to 350%—and now AI may drive a potential 20% annual growth rate, creating mind-boggling possibilities. - A new kind of invention: Unlike past breakthroughs (printing press, internet, atom bomb), AI is the first technology that can act independently, with seismic implications for how organizations operate. - Cognitive event horizon: With information costs approaching zero and data accelerating beyond human capacity, we need AI as a thought partner to help us navigate, interpret, and act. - The reskilling imperative: The old career compact—learn once, apply, retire—is gone. Today, we must continuously reskill throughout our working lives to thrive in this transformation. #healthcare #AI #Detroit

🌟 Honored to present today at the Michigan Institute for Care Management & Transformation's 5th Annual Team-Based Care Conference: Care Teamwork Makes the Dream Work! My session, “Health Literacy: The Power of Understanding,” focused on a simple but powerful idea: understanding matters. We explored: ✅ The difference between personal and organizational health literacy ✅ How health literacy intersects with patient-centered, quality care ✅ Practical strategies to improve patient outcomes by enhancing how we communicate Improving health literacy isn’t just about educating patients—it’s about changing how we deliver information. When we make understanding a priority, we empower patients, strengthen care teams, and improve outcomes. Grateful for the opportunity to connect with so many professionals dedicated to making care more effective and equitable. #HealthLiteracy #TeamBasedCare #PatientCenteredCare #CareTransformation #HealthEquity #CareTeamwork #HealthCommunicatio

I had the privilege of attending the HCAOA Illinois Chapter conference in Chicago this week, where Jacob Taitel, DMA presented on the Fundamentals of VA and Medicaid. No pitch, just education, backed by years of experience. Often, the reason agencies are not diversifying their payer mix is that they lack the knowledge or clarity on how to execute in this space. Navigating VA and Medicaid is complex, with rules and requirements that can differ not only state by state but even county by county. Without the right knowledge, diversification can feel risky and overwhelming. When agencies understand the landscape, they unlock new ways to serve more families, strengthen their businesses, and create long-term sustainability. The team of industry leaders and experts at Paradigm lives and breathes this complexity every day. I’m energized to work alongside colleagues like Jacob, whose experience helps agencies cut through the noise and move forward with confidence.

Appreciate Crain’s Detroit Business highlighting this important issue around patient access and the role of academic medical centers. Institutions like Michigan Medicine play a unique and essential role in our healthcare ecosystem bringing together advanced clinical expertise, research, and multidisciplinary care to treat some of the most complex medical cases. Across the healthcare system, many organizations contribute to delivering care and coverage for patients. At the same time, academic medical centers often serve as referral destinations when patients face conditions that require highly specialized expertise. Conversations about healthcare access, quality, and affordability are never simple, and they require thoughtful collaboration across providers, insurers, employers, and policymakers. What ultimately matters most is ensuring that patients and families continue to have access to the level of care they need when facing serious medical challenges. Michigan is fortunate to have institutions like Michigan Medicine contributing to the strength of our healthcare system and advancing medicine for patients everywhere. #PatientCare #AcademicMedicine #HealthcareLeadership #MichiganHealthcare

Imagine you are a healthcare provider seeing a complex patient with symptoms that could point to hundreds of conditions. Now imagine you have to do it without labs, without imaging, without the patient’s social and family history. The potential outcomes are endless; sometimes you might diagnose and treat them correctly, other times you might not. The worst scenario would be if you only treated the patient’s symptom while the underlying disease continued to progress and worsen. This is what we do in healthcare when we try to fix the revenue cycle without looking at the data...
