Andrei Zimiles liked thisAndrei Zimiles liked thisi live in San Francisco and my salary is $60k/yr. i can't pay myself less because of my visa. this puts me in the bottom ~20% of households by income in SF. i get by fine: i don't have dependents and i live a simple life. if we were to raise a priced funding round for my company, my equity would be worth >$100M. i am therefore either poor or very rich, depending on how you define it. i never plan to sell my equity. i don't want cash myself bc i have no desire to spend. it's likely i'll become a billionaire in the coming years, so i will be in the target range for a wealth tax. i am a boring, sensible person just like everybody else. if i would have to sell my dear equity just to pay a tax bill, i would of course leave. that would make me sad, but is the only reasonable response. ^if you're interested in the situation + psyche of someone who will likely be affected by wealth taxes on unrealized gains if they come to pass :)

Andrei Zimiles liked thisAndrei Zimiles liked thisThe next frontier in medicine isn’t another drug. It’s a radical shift in how we view the body, the brain, and disease itself. Depression is often rooted in systemic inflammation, gut dysbiosis, mitochondrial dysfunction, insulin resistance, trauma, or disrupted circadian rhythms. ADHD may be tied to neuroinflammation, poor blood sugar control, or nutritional gaps like low magnesium, zinc, or omega-3s. And heart disease? It’s largely a food-borne illness, driven by a diet of ultra-processed, inflammatory, nutrient-poor calories. There is no single root cause. But there are root causes. And they are almost always connected by lifestyle, environment, and systems-level dysfunction. Medications have their place… But they were never designed to reverse chronic disease. They manage symptoms, often while the underlying dysfunction worsens. If we want to reverse the chronic disease epidemic, mental and physical, we need to stop asking what drug treats this and start asking why the body lost balance in the first place. The answer isn’t in the pharmacy… It’s in how we eat, move, sleep, connect, and live. It’s in our soil, our food system, our communities, our kitchens. The next revolution in medicine will come not from the lab but from returning to the root.

Andrei Zimiles liked thisAndrei Zimiles liked thisFresh from the Phocuswright Marketing AI Summit in NYC yesterday. Three major takeaways for every high-volume operator to consider: 1. Communities are the new "Intent" (Reddit, Inc. / Meta ) :Insights from Sanjay Bhatia (Meta) and Eric DeLange (Reddit) confirmed that while AI is great at targeting, trust is built in communities. The most successful brands will be those that use AI to scale their presence in spaces like Reddit where authentic travel advice lives. 2. Google is an "Action Engine" now: As Nelson Boyce highlighted, the transition from Gemini to SGE is removing the "click." If your booking infrastructure isn't deeply integrated and API-native, you will be invisible to the "Answer-first" traveler. Embracing the uncomfortable part of this transition is important! 3. The Infrastructure Gap: The best marketing AI in the world cannot fix a manual manifest or a paper-based check-in. The "Enablement Gap" is real. To win in 2026, operators must move beyond "Booking Buttons" and embrace an "Operational Brain." At TripWorks we focus on and build the intelligent infrastructure that turns these summit insights into bottom-line revenue for our operators. This was a sophisticated and successful summit! Great work Eugene Ko and the Phocuswright/Phocuswire team!

Andrei Zimiles liked thisA big day for us at Confirm today!Andrei Zimiles liked thisBig moment for us at Confirm 🚀 Today we announced our new AI Agents platform for performance management at Transform! A lot of what’s out there today adds more process, more forms and more noise. What we’re doing instead is making performance management actually useful in the moments that matter, giving managers real support before conversations, helping surface patterns you’d otherwise miss, and making feedback more consistent across teams. From where I sit in Customer Success, this is where things start to get really interesting. Performance management has always been one of the hardest systems to get right: it’s high stakes, deeply human, and often inconsistent. The idea that we can now support managers with better context and guidance in real time is a big shift. Proud of the team for getting this out into the world, and excited to see how our customers put it to work. Andrei Zimiles liked thisAndrei Zimiles liked thisI’ve spent years talking with operators who are juggling five, ten, sometimes fifteen different tools (and I was one of them). In recent conversations with press, I plainly said: “Operators are exhausted and AI is exposing the inefficiencies in that model.” Last week, the press picked up that story and the industry knows we’ve hit a breaking point. The message is clear: 2026 will be the year operators aggressively consolidate their tech stacks. But here’s the part I’ll keep repeating: AI should support the people who run great experiences and not replace them. The future belongs to lean, intelligent platforms that help businesses grow with staff that supports them. Nice quote from one of our Partners Andrew Brackin in TechCrunch: “This was one of the biggest use cases of ChatGPT,” Andrew Brackin, a partner at Gradient who invests in health tech, told TechCrunch. “So it makes a lot of sense that they would want to build a more kind of private, secure, optimized version of ChatGPT for these healthcare questions.” https://lnkd.in/gY3TV5VD

Check out the latest from Limbic - their breakthrough study in Nature Portfolio, shows how Limbic turns frontier language models into behavioral health specialists. In their pre-registered, double-blind randomized trial they showed that: 1️⃣ Adding the Limbic Layer improves AI-led therapy performance by 43% 2️⃣ Clinicians preferred Limbic over general-purpose LLMs 83% of the time 3️⃣ 74% of Limbic's AI sessions ranked among the top 10% of therapists 4️⃣ Patients rate the Limbic experience as comparable to clinician-led sessions Amazing stuff from Ross Harper and Sebastiaan de Vries - delighted to have them in the Entrepreneurs First portfolio.

Nitra • 21K followers
Big day! Nitra has raised $187 million in combined financing as we build the AI-native operating system for healthcare practices. We're also announcing that Dr. Richard Park, founder of CityMD and healthcare legend, will be joining Nitra’s Board. But the real story of Nitra starts with a question. Why does the largest industry in America (to the tune of $5.9 trillion a year) still run on fax machines, spreadsheets, and 1-800 sales reps? The doctor who just operated on you is probably spending hours every day on phone holds, paper invoices, and reconciling accounts across six disconnected systems. Nobody built the operating system for the business of healthcare. So we did. In the past year alone, Nitra has grown quickly: • $1B+ annualized processing volume across 700+ clinics and thousands of physicians • 740%+ revenue growth in 2025 to $33M+ in annualized revenue • $9M of biopharma and surgical supplies processed in a single day That’s what it looks like when software becomes part of the infrastructure of healthcare. Doctors are not just service providers. They are the backbone of every community, yet many are forced to act as part-time CFOs, insurance specialists, and procurement officers just to run their practices. They deserve software that works as hard as they do. Huge thanks to our team, our investors, and the physicians building with us every day. And to Jonathan Chen, who’s been building this with me since day one. Appreciate Fortune and Catherina Gioino for the story: https://lnkd.in/gtHyn2Wg To read more about the Nitra story check out our blog here: https://lnkd.in/giHwVry2 To apply for open positions: https://lnkd.in/gePZdYRt If you’re a physician or operator who wants to modernize your practice, or if you want to help us build the future of healthcare, we’d love to hear from you.

Generative AI in the Smart Home: Will It Obey as Well as It Promises? The new wave of generative-AI assistants has arrived with force. Alexa+, Gemini for Home, and the upcoming redesigned Siri promise natural conversations, context, memory, and human-like interaction. The “speaking well” part has advanced significantly. But the practical question remains: do they already obey as well as they should? Based on recent analyses (The Verge, Reuters, About Amazon, Android Central, 9to5Mac), today’s answer is: not yet. These assistants are learning to understand nuances “I’m arriving,” “make the house cozy,” “I’m going to cook” but they struggle precisely where it matters most: executing commands with precision, speed, and predictability. Reports highlight persistent issues: • routines that fail to trigger; • devices appearing “offline”; • ignored commands; • instability in the Google/Nest ecosystem; • higher latency in generative models (5–6 seconds in on-device tests). The reason is simple: LLMs were designed for flexible dialogue, not deterministic behavior. They interpret intention, but their responses may vary. In home automation, predictability is everything. Additionally, the market is still battling interoperability. The latest version of the Matter standard (1.4.2) focuses on stability not new features because platforms still cannot “speak the same language” reliably. Companies are moving slowly for strategic reasons: • security risks increase with generative AI; • cloud dependency introduces delays; • future monetization requires flawless launches; • Apple, in particular, avoids missteps in privacy and execution. Will the smart home improve? Yes. But we are still in the middle of the transition. Today we have a curious combination: assistants that talk like humans but obey like beta-stage devices. The definitive leap will come when three layers converge: 1. Local generative AI (near-zero latency), 2. Deterministic, auditable actions, 3. A fully stable Matter ecosystem. When that happens, we will witness the true revolution: a home that understands, decides, and executes with precision not just one that speaks well.
