Bob Pritchett heeft dit geplaatstI’ve AI coded two prototypes for friends with business ideas. In both cases I got a credible site up in under six hours. Each has gotten a few more days of work and now they’re at the point where “What do we actually want?” has become a harder problem than expected. AI has cranked out nice-enough designs and even allowed me to iterate some concepts, but both could use some careful thought about the user experience, the architecture and layout of the data screens, etc. And while both feel like they’re ’this close’ to an MVP you could wire up to sales, neither is really a product — yet. I am amazed at what AI can do but I feel reassured that software development is not ‘over’ as a career or industry. While I was implementing someone else’s idea, I was also bringing a deep understanding of what can be done and how to do it. Yes, my friends could have booted up an AI coding tool and built something that looks very much like my prototype. But it wouldn’t do much beyond the demo. And to go live, both of these projects need a developer attached indefinitely; someone’s got to prompt the bug fixes and feature improvements and translate business needs to code. I think AI accelerates turning both of these projects into a business, and cuts the cost dramatically. Teams can be smaller, but we’ll still need people looking at the tech and the business needs. But maybe in new ways? More part-time tech teams? More AI-managing agencies?

Bob Pritchett vond dit interessantBob Pritchett vond dit interessantI was thrilled to attend the Lighthouse Mission Ministries Gala this weekend with my wife Vanessa and support the great work they are doing in our city to heal homelessness. I also got to see the results of the work that myself and the Further Up Co. team have been working on for the last few months as we have headed up the mission rebrand as well as the Gala identity. The Gala this year raised around 34% more funds then it did last year to go directly toward the efforts of real life change in our community. There's more to come as the brand rollout continues but here are a few sneak peaks.

His answer embarrassed me. Last year, my wife and I were in Hawaii, where flip-flops are business casual, nobody rushes, and the whole island seems to run on a clock the rest of the country forgot. Our Airbnb host was a founder who made his first million before 25. One morning, he invited me to grab coffee. Yeah, he was one of those Airbnb Superhosts. We spent hours at one of the businesses he had invested in. While we were there, he introduced me to a founder friend who was roasting coffee in the back of the shop. While we were at the roastery, we did a coffee tasting. We were mid-cupping, surrounded by the smell of fresh roast, when I, the guy always thinking about “the next thing”, asked the most on-brand question possible: "So when is the big move?" Both of them looked at me like I was speaking a different language. The coffee guy set down his spoon and said, "My family’s happy. I enjoy my job. I make a good living. Why would I ever do that to myself?" That stopped me. We are conditioned, especially in entrepreneurship circles, to treat growth as the default good. Bigger. More. Faster. And if you are not chasing the next level, you are either lazy or afraid. But that guy wasn’t plateauing. He had made a deliberate choice. He understood his business deeply, knew everyone on his team personally, found meaning in his work, and shaped his life around it, not the other way around. He had optimized for something other than scale. He had already made his big move. That conversation stuck with me. I’m not against growth. The question is not whether to grow, but what to grow toward. What would I have to give up to get there? That’s the question that matters.

I’m honored to finally announce the project I’ve been quietly working on for several months: Resend Forward, the conference. I still can’t believe Zeno is trusting me with something so delicate and powerful. To guide and shape the in-person expression of such a unique and crafted brand; what a beautiful thing! I’m not sure who is crazier: Zeno for asking me to head up the project, or myself for accepting, without ever questioning that I can. I can’t wait until October 21st! Well, I can, actually. (One has to do with a new book we are writing on AI Agents that I can’t wait to share more on). The other had to do with Jellycats, an agent, and the future of web commerce: My daughter was watching videos of Jellycat stuffed animals with me last night, and she casually asked if I could task my personal agent (“Jeff”) to help her find the best Easter-themed Jellycats for her to browse. (Yes, she’s already AI native enough to understand that I could just voice text to an AI agent, who in turn could do internet research and vibe coding on the fly.) In less than a minute, my agent researched the options on both Jellycat’s site and the secondary market sites, and then vibe designed and coded a custom shopping experience, and sent it over. All of this took about 60 seconds. What struck me wasn’t just the speed. It was that she wasn’t browsing a brand’s fixed website in the traditional way. She was scrolling through a personalized, on-demand shopping experience created specifically for her, with links back to the retailer. That feels like an important glimpse of where commerce is heading. Agents won’t just help people search faster. They’ll increasingly shape the interface layer between customers and brands. assembling experiences in real time based on intent. For consumer companies, that is a pretty meaningful shift. We’re moving from fixed digital experiences designed for the customer, to having to think about agent intermediaries doing the browsing and shopping for the customer. And then reshaping the brand experience.

Are CMSes broken? And if so, could Sanity’s “Content Operating System” be the way forward? Magnus Kongsli Hillestad thinks so. And he just closed an $85 million Series C to help grow this vision. As Sanity’s co-founder and CEO, Magnus has long viewed the CMS pantheon through a slightly different lens, focusing on the core concept that content is data – and data can shape how your business operates at scale. Now, the company has launched the first complete version of its novel “Content Operating System,” an engineering platform that reinforces the value of content as a strategic business asset. This direction has clearly resonated with customers like Expedia, Figma, and Burger King, and attracted investors. In my recent conversation with Magnus, we discussed the new features that Sanity has introduced along with this investment announcement, which include an SDK, Media Library, and more. We also talked about mending the broken promises of CMS, acquiring the Begin.com team to drive scalability, and how Sanity has introduced more native #AI integration, from its AI Assist to Agent Actions for workflows. Creating new names – and even categories – is fraught with challenges. But in this age of confusingly commoditized offerings, finding differentiated value is the key, and that’s where Sanity is drawing a line in the sand. “I think we're not a headless CMS,” Magnus says. “Of course, we have an API, but we’ve never kind of been that, right?"
